Warwick Police haven't prosecuted anyone for these vile rape threats and Warwick uni are now letting (some of?) the perpetrators back in to study at the same university alongside those they discussed threatening to rape.

Would you be happy sending your child here?

Warwick students suspended over rape threats allowed to return earlyly*_

I'm so angry for these ladies. Why should they be the ones to leave

xsquared · 31/01/2019 08:02

Gobsmacked they had their ban refused to one year. What about safeguarding their female students? These pathetic individuals should absolutely not be in the same vicinity as the women they threatened to rape.

xsquared · 31/01/2019 08:02

Reduced

BramblyHedge · 31/01/2019 08:14

Each student is worth £27k to the university...

GirlDownUnder · 31/01/2019 08:15

What is also worrying, and I’m actually quite shocked by, is the minimising comments under the student report in The Boar linked in the BBC article eg it was a private chat and just a joke Shock

fezzesarecool · 31/01/2019 08:24

There are no words

ghostyslovesheets · 31/01/2019 08:27

It’s a fucking disgrace

User758172 · 31/01/2019 08:32

I think their punishment has been adequate.

BumbleeBeeMe · 31/01/2019 08:34

I'm not surprised at all. Women are not allowed to feel safe.
I was raped by a man and was made to work next to him for an extra six months (until I had means to leave). Two other colleagues had also told our boss he raped them (I didn't know this at the time) and our boss kept him on. It's the way of the world - we wouldn't want to ruin the young man's life.

JacquesHammer · 31/01/2019 08:35

What an appalling thing for those women to have to endure.

What message is it sending out? Tough luck, men are more important.

It's an absolute disgrace. Has much changed since the bad old days?

JugglingMummyof2 · 31/01/2019 08:37

We were looking at Warwick for their BSc Health and Medical Science course for DD1 - we have decided against it. They will lose a lot of applicants over this and rightly so.

longwayoff · 31/01/2019 08:39

Bumblebees thats terrible, what action did the police take against him?

JacquesHammer · 31/01/2019 08:39

Their initial sentence should have been expulsion, as simple as that.

What a shame Warwick are treating their commercial enterprise as more important than the safety of their female students.

Fazackerley · 31/01/2019 08:40

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this - these men sound awful. But they didn't rape anyone, it was a stupid private chat, their lives are effectively ruined due to the social media interest. If we learn anything from this it is to tell our children not to talk utter shite on social media.

justlonelystars · 31/01/2019 08:41

I went to Warwick. Joined in 2010 and the flat above me (all boys) spent their first night slipping notes saying “I’m going to rape you” under the doors of the all girls flat opposite. No action was taken back then and it seems like little has changed.

Pickled0nion · 31/01/2019 08:42

If we learn anything from this it is to tell our children not to talk utter shite on social media.

Really? That's what "we" learn from this??

CocoDeMoll · 31/01/2019 08:43

@MrsAriadneOliver do you think that a one year ban and allowing these creeps back to study next to the girls adequate punishment?

Bluestitch · 31/01/2019 08:43

I've just seen the screenshots. They are awful, descriptions of graphic violence against named individuals. They should have been expelled.

Fazackerley · 31/01/2019 08:44

pickledonion it's a wholly unpleasant situation, not sure what anyone can positively learn from it unless you have suggestions?

Nanny0gg · 31/01/2019 08:44

We were looking at Warwick for their BSc Health and Medical Science course for DD1 - we have decided against it. They will lose a lot of applicants over this and rightly so.

I hope you've written to them and told them this.

MrsBrianWarner · 31/01/2019 08:44

They should have been excluded until the women they threatened to rape have left the university. At least.

Its vital for them to learn there are serious consequences for how they have behaved. The fear of the women that these arseholes are returning and may carry out their threats? Not ok.

It is appalling.

Warwick haven't thought this through. I hope they lose business.

JacquesHammer · 31/01/2019 08:45

not sure what anyone can positively learn from it unless you have suggestions?

Well we’ve positively learned that Warwick don’t value the safety of their female students.

Fazackerley · 31/01/2019 08:45

Yes I agree and I wouldn't encourage dd2 to apply (was on her radar).
