Newborn and custard

Mainly posting here for traffic because I really don’t think I am being at all unreasonable!! I am fuming! I left my 5 week old baby in my husbands ‘capable’ hands for 2 minutes while I went to hang some washing up and when I came downstairs husband was feeding him custard (an M&S microwave custard - not baby food) from his finger! Letting baby suck it from his finger!

I am so angry but do I also need to worry about baby? Husband has got angry saying I have over reacted in being so mad! Baby was sleeping on me a second ago as I took him off of husband but now he has taken him off me and baby is screaming!!

OP posts:

I never said it did need to exclude the father.

I was responding to a suggestion that the father needs to exclude the mother and be alone with the baby in order to bond. Which is nonsense obviously

Ha ga Cathf! I’m certainly getting that gist right now!

Some really odd replies on here I think! My DS is anaphylactic allergic to dairy products and this was not something we knew at 5 weeks old. YANBU at all to be upset, but glad everything is fine now.

I would worry what else your oh will do.
Someone that does something so stupid as ‘a joke’ will most likely make another massive patenting fail again soon.

OP - it must be quite entertaining for you - having appreciated fairly early on that you had overreacted and things are now fine - to see posters still apoplectic with rage and more angry than you ever where in your opening post!

Feeding a baby anything before 6 Months is detrimental to health and can have long term implications...but as this is a one off I think you’ll be ok. You are right to be mad!

JingleJake · 02/02/2019 12:17

@Aridane I was thinking exactly the same! It’s quite funny!

Booyahkasha · 04/02/2019 23:36

Feeding before 6 months is not detrimental to health, and people should not feel guilty for doing so, many babies genuinely need it. 5 weeks....obvs ridiculous but no harm done as a one off!
