If you had to choose would you prefer a Corbyn Government/soft or no Brexit or a Hard Brexit with Tories staying in power?

If the choice was between a hard Brexit (but the Tories staying in power) or soft/no Brexit and the Tory vote collapsing and Corbyn getting into power, which do you think would be more damaging to the UK and to you on a personal level?

Corbyn is on his last legs as far as I can see.
What I don’t understand is the fact that the British people voted on something that had no plan or manifesto ! It was madness to vote, whatever. side you were on, on something so important with no plan, just a lot of nonsense from both lots, very odd behaviour from normally sensible people.

littlenicky61 · 31/01/2019 15:19

No / soft brexit whatever it takes

BorisBogtrotter · 31/01/2019 15:50

"But when it doubles the next year? Or when the threshold drops to £50K?"

Um that was never indicated was it. So you are just making things up now.

"Best not vote for him then."

I was talking about you.

"And you think it'll remain like that? Corporation tax will be a cash cow for Momentum until the country belatedly realise that low corporation tax brings a far higher gain in PAYE and VAT income."

Actually the link between low corporation tax and investment is extremely tenuous, it hasn't caused any extra increase in investment here or the US, or higher pay since rates were lowerd.

So your objections aren't on what was in the manifesto, but situations of your own imagining.

Good work.

Hard Brexit with the Tories ANY day of the week, rather than that clown Jeremy Corbyn in power. I shudder at the thought of it! Shock

BorisBogtrotter · 31/01/2019 15:59

Again, no legitimate criticism of Corbyn's policies OR any legitimate justification for hard brexit.

icannotremember · 31/01/2019 17:04

Corbyn is in real trouble. His youth support is falling dramatically. His party is strongly in favour of remain. Most Labour voters are in favour of remain. If he loses those voters, who can he replace them with? A few kippers who are pro leave but anti Tory, and that's about it.

Hardly a reasoned critique is it? Just sound bytes - (which I got told off for pointing out).

^ this. Plus the issue of anti semitism which he and tge party are failing to deal with.

If anyone knew a tiny bit about him they would know that if he wasn't leader he would be a leaver just like his mates Dennis Skinner and George Galloway.

The way he behaved towards Angela Smith the other day was childish and pathetic.

Many of us have known him for decades. We know what he is like.

Vicky1990 · 31/01/2019 17:53

Google, Jeremy Corbyn and IRA.

I did a quick thematic analysis of all the posts in this thread (where you count words and then group them into themes, so you can produce qualitative data on text). I'm ill and bored Grin and my first outcomes were ;

  1. Overwhelmingly people have said no Brexit
  2. People are obsessed with Jeremy Corbyn.

For all the 'he's an unelectable dangerous clown' rhetoric; he's also very prevalent in people's discussion. Interesting that there is an intense focus on one man. Very little focus on TM.

I take it you didn't bother to look at the title of the thread where his name is mentioned.

ohreallyohreallyoh · 31/01/2019 18:14

I would vote for no Brexit above anything else at this point. Corby is pro-Brexit so....it’s notable option.

Readytorewind · 31/01/2019 18:17

Witchesweb

The title also says
No Brexit
Soft Brexit
Hard Brexit
Tories

I take it that you don't understand that forums are places for discussions, observations and opinions?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 31/01/2019 18:23

Obviously not happy with either choice.

Wondering if the Tory / Brexit option would lead to Corbyn being replaced with a more centrist leader.

Then again we'd have a hard Brexit. Think I'd better think it out again Hmm

icannotremember · 31/01/2019 19:26

I do think Corbyn is interesting and discussions of him are often fascinating. I am hugely disappointed by him. I voted for him in the first leadership election and for Owen Smith in the second. I will probably not vote Labour at the next GE. I don't think Corbyn should bear anything like as much blame for Brexit as May and Cameron, but i do think he has been a very poor opposition and that he could have done a lot more, a lot sooner and with a lot more conviction, to help avoid the mess we are in now.
