If you had to choose would you prefer a Corbyn Government/soft or no Brexit or a Hard Brexit with Tories staying in power?

If the choice was between a hard Brexit (but the Tories staying in power) or soft/no Brexit and the Tory vote collapsing and Corbyn getting into power, which do you think would be more damaging to the UK and to you on a personal level?

On the other hand, if Yvette Cooper and the centralist lefts take power, they will have my vote

Bombardier25966 · 28/01/2019 19:04

Long term labour members all around me are cancelling their memberships.

Yet membership numbers are still over half a million. Anyone might think you are exaggerating...

I was a staunch remainer during the campaign and referendum, not going to say I was particularly well educated on the matter because I wasn’t. It was gut instinct that it was an “unneighbourly” thing to do and would make people feel unwelcome which I didnt want, plus on a rudimentary level thought (and still think) that the club isn’t going to let us leave on better terms than the members, under any circumstances.

Now I just want there to be as little disruption to the populations daily life as possible. I don’t want people to suffer with regards to medication or job loss, and I’m most anxious about food and supplies because like millions of people across the country I am already on a budget with no savings, plus I have small children so food price hikes would really impact on my quality of life.

I would hope personally for a soft Brexit to put the issue to bed but remain relatively stable. There is just too much complexity and lies and personal agendas to determine what the best option would be, especially since naturally what is “best” depends on your position in life and political outlook.

I would feel disgraced though to be part of a country who’s government, after years already of austerity, then plunged us into an economic disaster, which seems, unbelievably, to seem a very likely outcome right now.

noodlenosefraggle · 28/01/2019 19:13

You say these things but don't see what the absolute evil wa#er tories have done/doing to our country, our children, our poor and less fortunate, our homeless, our NHS and our benefits etc etc etc but hey ho the food banks are quite good!*
And yet, they couldn't win an election.

Limensoda · 28/01/2019 19:15

What kind of shite are people reading or listening to, to say they are terrified of Corbyn being PM?
They think it would be worse than this Tory government? There are millions of poor, homeless or unemployed people who are living in fear every fucking day under this heartless cold government.

Limensoda · 28/01/2019 19:18

I want Kier Starmer

Me too!. and he'd also make a good PM Grin

Cattenberg · 28/01/2019 19:21

Definitely Corbyn and soft/no Brexit.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 28/01/2019 19:22

People being terrified of Corbyn is laughable when you look at the absolute pig's ear the Tories have made of governing this country. Surely it can't be worse than that.

Absolute no brainer for me. Soft/no Brexit and Corbyn. (I'm a Labour voter but no fan of Corbyn).

TheGirlWithTheArabStrap · 28/01/2019 19:22

Corbyn Labour Government and soft Brexit.

OftenHangry · 28/01/2019 19:26

@Bombardier25966 well that's what they say. Mind me lots of the lost members I know are women. Actually majority.

Limensoda · 28/01/2019 19:27

And yet, they couldn't win an election

But reduced the majority which made May have to bribe the DUO with OUR money....

Limensoda · 28/01/2019 19:27

DUP...

Limensoda · 28/01/2019 19:30

I despair of the mindset of those who think Corbyn would be a disaster and are oblivious to the despair the Tories have inflicted on people in this country.
Fucking madness!

Madbengalmum · 28/01/2019 19:35

Lots of despair going on in the momentum camp then!

GreenDinosaur · 28/01/2019 19:35

If you want madness, vote Corbyn, you ain't seen nothing yet! 😱

Hard Brexit and Tory government every time, no contest.

icannotremember · 28/01/2019 19:41

Corbyn and no Brexit.
Even better, Starmer mounts a surprise leadership challenge and we get him as PM and no Brexit :)

NewName8674 · 28/01/2019 19:42

I'm a bit confused by some posts in this thread - based on their manifesto before the last election, I think a soft Brexit is precisely what Labour is offering?

Definitely Corbyn and soft/no Brexit for me. I have plenty of doubts about Corbyn, but believe Brexit will be the death of the UK as a major economy with good standards of living. I don't think any government could fuck up the country to the degree the last two Tory governments have.

SwedishEdith · 28/01/2019 20:10

No Brexit is most important issue - it's forever and impacts everything. Corbyn is old and replaceable. Plus, it's a Labour govt, not a Corbyn one. I'd struggle if the Tories campaigned for no/soft Brexit Confused. They really are terrifying.

BartholinsSister · 28/01/2019 20:19

Why would brexit be 'forever'. Surely if it doesn't work out we can apply to rejoin. Heck they even take economic basket-cases like Greece. The UK is just the kind of powerhouse economy they need to prop up their club.

DopeyDazy · 28/01/2019 20:22

it's the ABC rule, anything but Corbyn

tillytrotter1 · 28/01/2019 20:25

I'm old enough to remember hard left governments, no contest, Corbyn et al would be the death of this country.

SwedishEdith · 28/01/2019 20:31

Surely if it doesn't work out we can apply to rejoin.

Yeah, sure, it's that easy. We can just dick everyone about non-stop - we're the UK after all.

TheGoogleMum · 28/01/2019 20:39

I think hard brexit with tories in power would be worse for me personally and most people

PinkGin24 · 28/01/2019 20:41

Tories and hard brexit for me hands down. But then again I have voted conservative my whole life and voted Brexit with the intention of a No Deal.

ZenNudist · 28/01/2019 20:43

Im a Labour voter but hate corbyn. Can i ask for no brexit and a centrist reasonable person in charge of a Labour government?
