If you had to choose would you prefer a Corbyn Government/soft or no Brexit or a Hard Brexit with Tories staying in power?

If the choice was between a hard Brexit (but the Tories staying in power) or soft/no Brexit and the Tory vote collapsing and Corbyn getting into power, which do you think would be more damaging to the UK and to you on a personal level?

OP posts:

I don't agree with Corbyn on defence or NATO, so I would never vote for a party where he is in charge. Easy.

BartholinsSister · 29/01/2019 09:59

Corbyn is a staunch brexiteer, another reason to avoid him.

scaryteacher · 29/01/2019 10:05

He has to be Bartholins He wouldn't be able to renationalise anything under EU state aid rules if we stay in as I understand it.

BorisBogtrotter · 29/01/2019 10:10

"He wouldn't be able to renationalise anything under EU state aid rules if we stay in as I understand it."

Then you don't understand it.

mobyduck · 29/01/2019 10:10

Brexit won't be bad. It's like worrying the water is cold before you dive in!
Sure, the poor will take hit initially, but things will work out.

Basecamp65 · 29/01/2019 10:14

Corbyn government under any circumstances.

He is not the person or the party I would ideally want in charge but he may give a pause to unrelenting assault against the poor. Our country is turning into a vile hostile place to live and a Corbyn government may be a step in the right direction to turning this round.

Huntawaymama · 29/01/2019 10:16

I'd keep the tories in

BigFatGoalie · 29/01/2019 10:49

If Corbyn was our prime minster we would emigrate.

Limensoda · 29/01/2019 13:27

Let's hope wherever you go like foreigners Grin

Boris According to this theconversation.com/renationalising-britains-railways-eu-law-not-a-barrier-96759 some of the rail network could be brought back into public ownership, but it is very clear that a wholesale renationalisation of everything to do with the railways is not possible; there has to be a separation of infrastructure and rail services. The article is quite clear that under current EU competition law, renationalisation can't happen.

MirrorBox · 29/01/2019 15:14

Any party that agrees no brexit would have my vote.

BorisBogtrotter · 29/01/2019 15:30

"but it is very clear that a wholesale renationalisation of everything to do with the railways is not possible"

No nationalisation into a natural monopoly is not possible.

Nationalisation of course is possible, they are two different things.

Renationalisation does not have to take the old BR model, it could mirror Germany and France, by having nationalised infrastructure and both nationalised and private operating firms.

Same could go for the energy markets.

Justanotherlurker · 29/01/2019 21:52

Renationalisation does not have to take the old BR model, it could mirror Germany and France, by having nationalised infrastructure and both nationalised and private operating firms

So considering our rail network is run on nationalised infrastructure is already the somewhat the same, the fact france is having to open up its tender to operating firms due to EU regulations is also what we did, and if we add that we our rail network is an old victorian system that needs modernisation with a lot of people against such upgrades such as HS2/HS3 etc.

Kind of shows it is not a simple solution one way or the other.

Anyway this is besideds the point after tonights shit show, looks like it 's going to be a no-deal with each party wanting to shift the blame.

Any referendum now is with Mays deal or No deal.

everythingisginandroses · 29/01/2019 21:55

Corbyn, all day every day.

Unfinishedkitchen · 29/01/2019 22:15

We will end up with a hard Brexit followed 6 months later by Corbyn as PM. Shit times.

BlackberryandNettle · 29/01/2019 22:57

Terrifying choice. Honestly if I absolutely had to make that decision I think I'd go hard Brexit.

BeachtheButler · 29/01/2019 23:28

So long as they can deliver no brexit or, failing that, a soft brexit, I'd have Micky Mouse in charge of the Govt.

MrsPworkingmummy · 29/01/2019 23:31

Hard brexit and tories.

mobyduck · 30/01/2019 02:09

We live in a democracy so we could halt Brexit if we wanted, or choose any of the OP choices given- we have as an electorate chosen to go with Theresa May.

moredoll · 30/01/2019 02:23

Sure, the poor will take hit initially, but things will work out.

Oh well, that's okay then.

moredoll · 30/01/2019 02:25

Labour government.

Corbyn's nearly 70. I hope he does the decent thing and resigns before the election.

mobyduck · 30/01/2019 02:50

*Sure, the poor will take hit initially, but things will work out.

No, it is very un-okay but it is just the way it is.
Wealthy people will be largely unaffected by food price rises.
Actually, I'm not wealthy but I am retired and I wouldn't care personally if food prices doubled. But I would emphasise with others.

AutumnColours9 · 30/01/2019 03:53

Corbyn anyday

BigFatGoalie · 30/01/2019 07:18

limensoda he is and will run this country into the ground. We have a contingency plan and thankfully the means to do it.
I have no issue with “foreigners”. What a weird and slightly racist thing to write Confused

noodlenosefraggle · 30/01/2019 09:13

I'm more afraid that the current shower have made it impossible for there to be a Labour government. Partly because they have been useless at holding the government to account, which is the job of the opposition and partly because they don't look like they want to be in government. Because it's easier to say 'Oh but look at what the Tories have done' than actually be responsible and do something yourself. I'm not even a paid up Labour supporter. I have mainly voted Lib Dem, but they are our official opposition and the party most likely to win a GE. I don't believe they will ever win an election while Corbyn and Momentum are in charge. 500,000 members don't win you an election, especially if they are replacing activists who go out and explain to people why they should vote Labour and explain their policies with people who 'like' posts on the internet but can't even be bothered to pay their £10 renewal subscription on time, never mind vote or persuade other people to vote.
