I don't watch all those odd programmes they present but the man

-cheated on his wife with his PA, now girlfriend, and she is quite obviously pregnant
-writes an article flaunting his love for his new girlfriend while still divorcing his wife
-caused a nasty accident and was subsequently convicted of drink driving

• has not worked for a whole year

yet apparently won an award last night!

Others in the public eye who have done what he has done get vilified (look at Prince Philip's car accident!)

It does not take much to be over the limit. If you got heavily drunk the night before, you may genuinely not know you’re still over the next morning!

@Baby1onboard11 it takes a lot to put you more than twice the legal limit. I can't believe the amount of excuses you are making for him. He knew when he got in that car that he was pissed, we could all see it when he got out, he could hardly stand ffs.

I don't drink at all, my dad doesn't drink anything before he drives because he spent far too many years going to RTAs where people had been drink driving. Neither of my kids drive the day after they've been drinking because one has a job where they rely on their driving license and the other treats victims of drink drivers in A&E. It's not a hard decision to make.

I used to love ant and Dec. Now I just like Dec. Don’t think Ant has done himself any favours last year with the comstant positive PR stories that always feature the dog.

I do think it’s ridiculous they won, when one half of them didn’t do the work but I read that Ant said the award was for Declan. But that being said next year when they get it they will say it’s the 19th year in a row. No matter what way you look at it, the award is for both of them.

Just proves how rigged the voting is. I feel sorry for the others in their category. They must have thought if not this year then never!

I really loved them when I was young. Admittedly nothing they present is to my taste as an adult but had fond memories of SMTV live and Pop Idol.

I don’t usually pay attention to celebrity gossip but ears pricked when I heard the Ant stuff purely because he’d been with his wife for so bloody long.

Nobody knows the ins and outs but I find myself sympathising far more with her. The recent interview he gave was uncalled for, he basically disparaged their entire 18 year relationship and portrayed his new girlfriend as his saviour. He hasn’t come across very well.

Did I watch a different show to some people on this thread?
When they were awarded the gong at BGT, Ant handed it straight over to Dec and said he didn't deserve it but it was for Dec.

And people have been speculating for months that his new girlfriend is pregnant. Doesn't seem to have materialised.

He had been officially separated from his wife when this new relationship is said to have started, so no one can say with any authority that he has cheated.

But why let any of that get in the way of the bitchiness on this thread?

The relationship with Lisa was over for a long time. It was taken as read in the press that the marriage was over for more than a year before they announced it. It appeared to be a co-dependant relationship. They partied hard and Lisa appears to have her own demons. Marriages break down and there really wouldn't have been a way to keep the new relationship a secret so I don't judge for that at all. I'm not going to be "Team Lisa" just because she's a woman.
The drink driving I do judge but addiction is an illness and people are more forgiving because no one was hurt. I certainly don't believe it should be career ending.

The NTA used to be, I use this word lightly, prestigious. It’s now another version of the Soap Awards but with more categories. Pointless.

It is total dross. I don’t know why anyone ever watches tv award shows. They’re always full of luvies praising themselves to the hilt. Even worse that Ant hasn’t been working. It seems like rich and famous actors etc get awards all the time. I’d rather see air time dedicated to normal people.

Many people get arrested and punished for drink driving. Many of those go back to work and it does not affect their career and livelihood.

Many people have affairs and it does not affect their careers.

At least he did accept responsibility and get treatment, and took time off to deal with it. Many people don't.

It was also not just his award. It was for his present partnership with Dec as well. I assume the award was for work done together before the incident, as well as work done by the 'Ant & Dec' brand - by Dec after the crash.
He himself apparently commented on it and said that it was Dec who should have the award rather than him.

I love Ant and Dec! Ants made mistakes and has paid for them. I think we need to remember that half of what we read in the media is twisted to sell papers.
He very graciously passed the award to Dec last night and openly said he wasn’t expecting to win this year at all and that it was Decs award.
I love their friendship - you can see how close they are and there’s not many friendships that have lasted as long as theirs and have stood the test of time.
They have a mutual respect and love for each other.

I have always loved Ant and Dec, and I think everyone is allowed to make mistakes. However I agree 100%. They should not even have been up. DEC on his own yes. But not ANT as well - no...........!

Also fucked off to the nth degree of them winning the award. I would rather Holly and Phil won, even though I am a bit bored with them.

When anyone wins 5 x in a row, they should be ruled out from the nominations for at least a year IMO. Two even! Not fair on others. JMO obvs!

The British public are the most fickle people ever look how Michael Barrymore and Angus Deaton were treated, plus after all the fuss about phone scams which included sat night takeaway I wouldn’t trust them

He shouldn't have driven drunk at all it probably wasn't the first time just the first time he was caught.

I also think TV needs a shake up.
Bring in new relevant presenters, take a risk. Make it into a fecking reality show if you like!
