to think that Ant McPartlin winning a TV award is the height of piss taking?

I don't watch all those odd programmes they present but the man

-cheated on his wife with his PA, now girlfriend, and she is quite obviously pregnant
-writes an article flaunting his love for his new girlfriend while still divorcing his wife
-caused a nasty accident and was subsequently convicted of drink driving

  • has not worked for a whole year

yet apparently won an award last night!

Others in the public eye who have done what he has done get vilified (look at Prince Philip's car accident!)

Yup.
They monopolise everything too. Give other people a shot and I'm sure they might have a chance of winning!

Whisky2014 · 23/01/2019 15:15

Winning 18 times in a row just shows no progression

IdleBetty · 23/01/2019 15:16

Yes. But Dec has done a sterling job on his own this year, so maybe people have voted for that reason?

I agree though, it makes a mockery of these type of TV awards.

Lwg87 · 23/01/2019 15:16

Totally agree. What would he actually have to do for people to turn against him? The drink driving incident would have ended many a celebrities career but somehow he’s been welcomed back like a hero 😏

IdleBetty · 23/01/2019 15:18

In my opinion Dec carries that partnership. He has proven he doesn't need Ant at all. He should have been nominated on his own this year.

IncomingCannonFire · 23/01/2019 15:18

Well he did go blind in Byker Grove so sympathy for that, eh? Hmm
(sarcasm)

DaffoDeffo · 23/01/2019 15:18

yes I do wonder how low some people need to go but other people do one small thing and never work again!

OP posts:
JasperKarat · 23/01/2019 15:18

The drink driving and relationship stuff isn't relevant to the award, but how can he be best presenter for a year in which he didn't present anything?!

JasperKarat · 23/01/2019 15:19

He should have been nominated on his own this year. - Dec
Agreed

HugeAckmansWife · 23/01/2019 15:20

What award is it? Because none if the things you mention relate to his TV work. He's obviously not a great guy in his personal life but that doesn't mean he's not good at his job (disclaimer.. I don't watch his shows either so I don't know)

Justworried20146 · 23/01/2019 15:21

Totally agree how could they win when they haven’t presented with each other this year !!
I don’t even really like holly willoughby but she should of won with Phillip

RomaineCalm · 23/01/2019 15:22

but how can he be best presenter for a year in which he didn't present anything?!

This is the bit I find bizarre. It probably says more about the people that have voted for them for the last 18 years.

ManicUnicorn · 23/01/2019 15:23

Did he cheat on his wife? I don't think we know that for sure do we? I have heard on the grapevine that the 'painkiller addiction' was actually an addiction to something else though.

Dec is the naturally funny one in the partnership. That's been obvious for years.

Anapurna · 23/01/2019 15:24

Don’t watch that sort of thing but of course I know who he is. Hardly out of the eye of the meeeeeja for walking his dog.

That is a joke. I dislike Piers Morgan but he is dead right about this “award”.

northernmonkey1010 · 23/01/2019 15:25

Ellen came out has lesbian and was black listed and so was the person who was her partner on her sitcom! It's disgraceful I hate the c!?t

noodlenosefraggle · 23/01/2019 15:25

It just goes to show what a load of old nonsense these awards are. The NTA's are just an excuse to back slap the same old itv dross, no matter what they do, and to give them filler for their programmes. I wouldn't even bother turning up if I had been nominated against Ant and Dec or This Morning. Were Phil and Holly pretending they were drunk and had just come into work from the after party again? That's just so hilarious Hmm

Thesearmsofmine · 23/01/2019 15:27

I don’t think he should have won, it’s all very odd really. I don’t watch them really because I find them irritating but I did watch I’m a celebrity this year and enjoyed Dec and Holly presenting together so maybe it is just Ant I don’t like!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 23/01/2019 15:27

He hadn't presented any tv programmes in 2018.

Can't see how you can win an award whilst not doing said award winning job.

Fucking batshit!

Bluestitch · 23/01/2019 15:32

There should be criteria to meet in order to be nominated- such as actually presenting any shows that year. Agree Dec should have been nominated on his own. Possibly lots who voted were doing so as a show of support to Dec but it comes across as validation of Ant's awful behaviour. Dec would probably have won on his own anyway.

MinecraftHolmes · 23/01/2019 15:33

The first three point are totally irrelevant. But yes winning presenter of the year when you haven’t presented for a year is a bit of a piss take.

MawkishTwaddle · 23/01/2019 15:37

By this yardstick, I should stand a good chance of winning the Nobel Prize for Science, despite the fact I haven't been in a science lab since an ill-fated day of supply teaching two years ago.

PlumpSyrianHamster · 23/01/2019 15:42

YANBU!

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 15:42

I am amazed that it's taken til 3.15 this afternoon for a thread like this to pop up. Shock Grin

I am pleased that Dec got recognition though. There aren't many persenters I like TBF.

Poodloo · 23/01/2019 15:42

No need to call the programmes odd. They just aren't to your taste.

I agree Dec should have been nominated on his own but really his personal life has nothing to do with his tv life in your points above.

blueshoes · 23/01/2019 15:44
