On the 22nd of December we had a delivery man knock on our door for a parcel for a lady 4 doors away from ours.

I took in the parcel for them and signed for it even though I don't know them.. my thought was that it's a neighbour and possibly a late Christmas present they didn't want to miss.

We attempted delivering the parcel to them every day, twice a day, from the 23rd-30th because they didn't come to collect. On the 2nd of jan we put a note through the door to say the parcel was with us and we attempted many times to deliver it to them.

We still have this parcel!!

Today I saw a lady come out of the house as I happened to be walking down the street to my car. I stopped her and explained we had a parcel for their house and explained the attempted deliveries and note. She laughed and said 'oh I know, thanks. We don't need it now and have had a refund for it' Confused
so then I said to her that it belongs to them and they need to return it if it's not needed. She said while walking away from me 'ha! Well I didn't sign for it' Shock

What do I do with it? Can I now be in trouble for doing what I thought was a good deed for a neighbour?? Sad

Seriously tempted to just leave it at their front door.... but I did sign for it Shock

Any idea what it is?!

LittleMe03 · 19/01/2019 20:05

No. It's rectangular shaped and very light. So I'm guessing it's something in a box. I'm not sure why that's relevant thou Confused

Contact the company, tell them what they did and ask what they want you to do.

Nicknacky · 19/01/2019 20:07

Just leave it on their door step.

CandleConcerto · 19/01/2019 20:07

That’s so weird. Even with a refund why wouldn’t she want what she ordered? Surely that’s the ideal (but dishonest, but still...) outcome?

countrybunny · 19/01/2019 20:07

I'm interested as to what it is!

Ultramic · 19/01/2019 20:09

Contact the courier and ask their advice - what a batshit thing for her to do!

LittleMe03 · 19/01/2019 20:09

I know it's from amazon because it's wrapped in their amazon prime tape.

The only way she could have got a refund is to have surely blamed me? Saying I signed for it but never gave her the parcel? That's why I feel as thou I should leave it intact

Contact the company it is from, tell them the situation and that they can arrange a collection from you when is convenient for you.

bridgetreilly · 19/01/2019 20:13

If it were me I would actually report them for fraud.

pyramidbutterflyfish · 19/01/2019 20:13

I’d either keep it, or dump it outside their house

CatnissEverdene · 19/01/2019 20:14

I'd return it to the company who sent it... along with a note saying the recipient said they didn't want it. How bloody rude.

trooth · 19/01/2019 20:14

Contact Amazon and let them know then dump it in her front garden or on her doorstep.

Badwifey · 19/01/2019 20:17

What a cheeky bitch. I'd have to open it to see what it is and where it came from. Id then ring the company with reference and tell them you've made multiple attempts to give it to her and tell them to send someone for it.

Serialweightwatcher · 19/01/2019 20:18

I'd contact Amazon and say you have had this parcel all this time, have tried to give to the recipient but they won't come and get it and what should you do with it? Cheeky cow

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/01/2019 20:21

I'd return it to the company after a peep in the box

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/01/2019 20:21

That actually says peep by the way - it looks like poop with the strike through SmileGrin

gamerchick · 19/01/2019 20:22

Definitely contact Amazon, cheeky cow.

I'd be opening it and contacting the seller myself. They're down the item and the money, it's not fair on them.

Fusioluxe · 19/01/2019 20:26

Don’t poop in the box 😆

Can you just “return to sender” with proof of delivery at the post office? I know you shouldn’t have to but at least you’ll be rid of the thing then.

StoneofDestiny · 19/01/2019 20:26

Agree

Gazelda · 19/01/2019 20:27

Oh please poop in the box! Then leave it in her doorstep.

TheCakeCrusader · 19/01/2019 20:27

Contact Amazon and explain what’s happened in regards neighbour not bothering with parcel and claiming a refund. State that you’d like to return parcel and what do they advise?

CandleConcerto · 19/01/2019 20:27

But she’s not benefiting from that? Surely she should have claimed th refund then accepted the parcel? Bloody amateur.
