On the 22nd of December we had a delivery man knock on our door for a parcel for a lady 4 doors away from ours.

I took in the parcel for them and signed for it even though I don't know them.. my thought was that it's a neighbour and possibly a late Christmas present they didn't want to miss.

We attempted delivering the parcel to them every day, twice a day, from the 23rd-30th because they didn't come to collect. On the 2nd of jan we put a note through the door to say the parcel was with us and we attempted many times to deliver it to them.

We still have this parcel!!

Today I saw a lady come out of the house as I happened to be walking down the street to my car. I stopped her and explained we had a parcel for their house and explained the attempted deliveries and note. She laughed and said 'oh I know, thanks. We don't need it now and have had a refund for it' Confused
so then I said to her that it belongs to them and they need to return it if it's not needed. She said while walking away from me 'ha! Well I didn't sign for it' Shock

What do I do with it? Can I now be in trouble for doing what I thought was a good deed for a neighbour?? Sad

Seriously tempted to just leave it at their front door.... but I did sign for it Shock

The delivery drivers get fined for each parcel they return to the depot with.

I thought it was just that they were paid per parcel delivered?

I was in my hallway today when a card popped through the letter box from Amazon saying 'sorry we couldn't deliver'. I opened the door and the delivery driver nearly had a heart attack. 'Sorry' he said 'I assumed you weren't in'. 'You could perhaps have rung the bell before deciding that?' I said. 'Fair point' he said and gave me my parcel.... I mean?!

They don't get fined they just don't get paid.

Some amazon drivers get paid regardless. The people delivering in the cars get paid but the time slot. Any issues will be detrimental to their rating but no pay is deducted.
