On the 22nd of December we had a delivery man knock on our door for a parcel for a lady 4 doors away from ours.

I took in the parcel for them and signed for it even though I don't know them.. my thought was that it's a neighbour and possibly a late Christmas present they didn't want to miss.

We attempted delivering the parcel to them every day, twice a day, from the 23rd-30th because they didn't come to collect. On the 2nd of jan we put a note through the door to say the parcel was with us and we attempted many times to deliver it to them.

We still have this parcel!!

Today I saw a lady come out of the house as I happened to be walking down the street to my car. I stopped her and explained we had a parcel for their house and explained the attempted deliveries and note. She laughed and said 'oh I know, thanks. We don't need it now and have had a refund for it' Confused
so then I said to her that it belongs to them and they need to return it if it's not needed. She said while walking away from me 'ha! Well I didn't sign for it' Shock

What do I do with it? Can I now be in trouble for doing what I thought was a good deed for a neighbour?? Sad

Seriously tempted to just leave it at their front door.... but I did sign for it Shock

I wouldn’t bother wasting any more of your time contacting amazon trying to resolve this. Just open the parcel and if it’s anything decent put in charity shop
Dont take anymore parcels in

Ethel36 · 19/01/2019 20:57

Just keep it.

CantstandmLMs · 19/01/2019 20:57

Open it and keep it. Amazon don't give a crap, honestly.

Onecutefox · 19/01/2019 20:58

You need to contact Amazon customer service not the delivery people as they could also leave the parcel for themselves.

WutheringBites · 19/01/2019 20:58

I’m a wuss, so I’d email amazon to explain. Then I’d Definitely open the box.
Then I’d come back here and put everyone’s mind at rest —from our nosiness—Smile

Fusioluxe · 19/01/2019 20:59

Dont keep it without contacting amazon. It’s an offence to open someone else’s mail. Neighbour sounds like a Cf and might cause trouble later.

.

I know I'm not so just after some advice..

Every time I read one of these threads I get crosser and crosser. Not only do I seem to be the only person who has ever had to return something to Amazon, by a ridiculous mix up (which was my fault) I actually returned something to Amazon that I'd bought on eBay.

Imknackeredzzz · 19/01/2019 21:04

Oh for gods sake just open it and stop bloody stressing! Amazon don’t give a crap.

Can’t believe you’ve wasted this much time worrying about this!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/01/2019 21:05

I would not trust her. I'd contact Amazon and the seller and explain the whole story. Then I'd return the package with a note attached again telling the whole story.

WatcherOfTheNight · 19/01/2019 21:06

Op you have an obligation now to keep us updated when you find out what's in the box .
Don't do a Victorian safe number on us !

Mistlewoeandwhine · 19/01/2019 21:07

Oh God open it! I need to know!

Tiredismymiddlename85 · 19/01/2019 21:08

I honestly wouldn't worry about it - Amazon are pretty laid back with returned goods. I declared some books I bought as being lost, they refunded me and then I found them a few days later. They don't really care.
If you're worried, then just take a photo of you leaving it on their doorstep. Then wipe your hands of it - I wouldn't even bother contacting Amazon.

checkoutmyusername · 19/01/2019 21:09

Please open the box!

crazycatlady5 · 19/01/2019 21:10

I think you’re worrying way too much about this tbh.

TheBestThingsInLifeAreFreee · 19/01/2019 21:12

Open it and tell us what's inside! Grin

TokyoSushi · 19/01/2019 21:12

If you contact amazon on live chat this will be over in 5 minutes, they will either come an collect it from you or most likely tell you to keep it!

Please let us know what it is, and definitely don't poop in the box! Grin

TokyoSushi · 19/01/2019 21:13

**and collect it

Fusioluxe · 19/01/2019 21:14

Amazon customer service are open now. Just ring. Free call.

When choosing what to do with an issue like this, what would you (hypothetically) prefer to be the headline in the papers tomorrow?

That you rang amazon
Left it on her doorstep
Opened it and kept contents
?

ApolloandDaphne · 19/01/2019 21:14

Ach just open the box and keep whatever is in it. You deserve it!

Kittykat93 · 19/01/2019 21:16

Jesus just open the goddamn box already Grin

TheCanyon · 19/01/2019 21:16

Op, please just open it and put us out our misery. Amazon won't give a shit, your neighbour clearly doesn't give a shit so why should you give a shit? OPEN IT

ddl1 · 19/01/2019 21:17

How odd. I would contact Amazon, thought they're not always the easiest to get hold of.

StressedToTheMaxx · 19/01/2019 21:18

You can return it to Amazon but you would need to open the box because I am a nosey bitch that needs to know what is in the box because you need to let them know what you are trying to return to their company Grin

Nicknacky · 19/01/2019 21:20

Why do posters even care what’s in the box?! It won’t be anything exciting.
