Inspired by another thread on here, AIBU to have a wish list if clothes I wish existed?

I want...
Tights that don't fall down/ cut me in half/ ladder / go wobbly.
Jeans with proper pockets, enough to fit a mobile phone without it peeking over the top.
Comfortable bras that don't cost a fortune.
Pants that match the above bras that aren't made of polyester.

What else would you add?

Skirts/dresses with POCKETS in them FFS!
Yes to the correctly positioned buttons so shirts don't show your boobs through the gap.
Tights that don't roll over at the top regardless of where you position them - none of them that claim to do this, behave like that on me
Soft bras you wear in bed at night that don't roll up under the boob and cut in the same amount as a wireless bra does

And the holy grail which I think is actually impossible (but then my feet are quite knackered with odd lumps and bumps and general wear and tear) but a pair of not excessively high heels (workaday court shoe type) that aren't agony after an hour AND could someone please design shoes of this type that accommodate people with wider feet and really narrow heels so I can please take a step without my foot slipping out of the bloody shoe!!! They're all like boats at the back. I literally live in boots now as they're the only shoes that stay on my feet.

When I win the lotto I will invest in a company that does absolute basics in quality materials, a small range of colours, but various sizes and cuts.
Vests: in short, normal and long length, camisoles and tank, camisoles are available in a modest over-the-boob neckline and 'I breastfeed but don't want to buy breastfeeding tops' lower cut. Black, white, several nudes, navy...

codswallopandbalderdash · 20/01/2019 16:57

Three quarter sleeves - my upper arms are not what they once were
Clothes that are designed to accommodate breasts (i.e. not wide in places you don't need it)
Pockets, pockets, pockets - on dresses, skirts, coats, cardigans, jumpers, you name it
More pure cotton clothes
Tights that don't end up with the crotch half way down my thighs

codswallopandbalderdash · 20/01/2019 16:59

Oh and I agree with summer clothes that don't have flowers or spots on them. I like plain clothes thanks

WyrdSisterWeatherwax · 20/01/2019 17:24

Comfort bras with decent padding for a boost

Tights that fit properly, don't ride down and don't cut into my middle but also don't cost £15+ a pair

Pants that cover my bum without being shorts

More cropped cardigans with long sleeves available on the high st

AndromedaPerseus · 20/01/2019 17:24

startedearly I found some on a wholesale website see pic attached but the minimum order is 50 dozen so not feasible but they are so much better and cheaper than the non wired bras you can currently get in the U.K. They give the same amount of support but its made soft material which don’t dig into you. Hopefully someone in the underwear business will see this thread and start importing them soon as I need to replace my current collection soon

Longer tops longer tops longer tops. I hate tshirts and jumpers that ride up and leave a cold gap as soon as you move, and shirts and blouses that don’t have enough material to be tucked in.

Plain nightwear not plastered in slogans that are supposed to be cute/sexy/sassy but are actually just cheap and embarrassing.

I’m actually fine with sleeveless/cap sleeved summer dresses and can’t find enough of them. If it’s hot enough for me to have bare legs I’ll boil to death if my arms are covered.

Beach dresses and coverups that aren’t polyester and aren’t white. If I need a beach dress, it’s because it’s 30 degrees, so I don’t want to be a sticky sweaty mess. And I’m almost certainly away from home, so don’t have access to a washing machine, so things need to stay vaguely presentable for more than three hours. White things may look beautiful and fresh and summery when they are new. They do not stay that way when they are constantly impregnated with sand and suncream and fake tan.

schnubbins · 20/01/2019 18:00

I am 5ft 10 I need longer tops Everything just comes to belt line and after a wash I can very often throw or give it away

More V necks or scoop necks to accommodate my 36E boobs.Everything is high round neck.Be it in tops or dresses .I feel like I am being strangled.

Dresses with a longer waistline .Most waistlines end up around my boobs.

In summer no polyester .Who can wear that in temps over 30 degrees?

No more of these square boxy tops/jumpers that are also too short. They make everyone just look shapeless.

Why is everything just made wider and not longer. Most dresses look like tunics on me.i am starting to hate shopping.

sollyfromsurrey · 20/01/2019 18:14

Sizes that are not missing....8-10, 12-14....what if you are an 11, a large 10 or a small 12? Shoes that include half sizes....3-4, 5-6....what if you are a 4.5. Kids clothing sizes that don't leap from 130cm to 150cm. That's a 20cm difference in height!

sollyfromsurrey · 20/01/2019 18:16

I'm not in agreement about pockets however. I don't like the extra padding that invariably ends up around the hip/bum area and have been known to have a dressmaker remove the pockets on slim fitting trousers and on skirts. What is it that people keep in their pockets? You just end up looking lumpen.

NotTheQueen · 20/01/2019 18:18
  1. v necks
  2. sleeves
  3. longer tops (I’m 5ft and short of body with longer legs... so if these tops are too short for me, what the hell are the rest of you wearing?)
  4. nice trousers with reasonable thickness of material - often too thin you may as well be wearing tissue
  5. nice knitwear (uniqlo, please offer your larger sizes in store!)
  6. STANDARD SIZES - if guys can go into a store and know that a 30/30 fits their legs and waist, why the hell can a woman’s size 12 not have the same measurements across all brands??
Rubusfruticosus · 20/01/2019 18:28

What is it that people keep in their pockets? Keys, phone, cash when needed.

rightreckoner · 20/01/2019 18:34

I really don’t agree with standardising sizes even more than they are. We need the variations in cut. There aren’t four sizes of woman. Some are apple shaped, some pear, some hour glass, some straight up and down, some broad shouldered, some narrow, long waisted, short waisted, long legs, short legs, muscular/lean. And that’s before you get the normal variation of weight which probably goes from 50kg to 100kg to cover 90pc of the population plus height variations and all the additional variations that come from age/disability. We are all a combination of the above meaning there are tens of basic types. If there were literally four mandated sizes that were the same across all shops I’d never find anything to wear (5ft 7, overweight, very long waisted, big boobs, broad shoulders, slim waist, c section overhang, slim arms, massive head). M&S doesn’t fit too well as I find it more suited to an apple shape whereas Hobbs is ok.

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 20/01/2019 18:38

Full sleeves, full torso fabric (not weirdly short or full of decorative holes), bigger pockets. Inside pockets for jackets. Flat lace up dress shoes in black with no weird designs. I think I need to start shopping at men's section!!

bluebellation · 20/01/2019 18:39

I hope some manufacturers read this thread as so many are saying the same thing.

My bugbears are:
Why no choice of trouser length? Men's trousers come in a variety of lengths, women's rarely do.
Long enough tops.
As mentioned above, shoes wide enough over the toes, but close fitting round the heel.

SecretNutellaFix · 20/01/2019 18:45

Evans are good for larger feet- my sister wears a size 9/10 and I wear a size 6/7 depending on style.

I would like simple white t-shirts with a small v-neck and basic- NOT cap- sleeves that reach my arse and keep my expanse of white midriff covered when I stretch up.

Rubusfruticosus · 20/01/2019 19:06

As mentioned above, shoes wide enough over the toes, but close fitting round the heel. Merrell barefoot shoes fit like this.

FaFoutis · 20/01/2019 19:24

I don't understand the Evans size 9 thing. Surely being plus size does not give you big feet, might be wider feet but not longer. Surely?
I'm thin, I have big feet.

Siameasy · 20/01/2019 19:41

Bloody knickers are shit nowadays
Must be made from the cheapest cotton ever. If I wanted see through I would’ve bought see through
Same for my DDs ones. So skimpy that when she sits down her genitals fall out
Have bought two pairs of WAHM pants-100% cotton jersey. Hold you in, not see through, keep you warm. £ tho

hickerydickerydockmouse · 20/01/2019 19:42

cuffed and elasticated trousers that have pockets.

Shirts that have pockets

Long sleeve clothes that are made of quality material.

dresses that would look flattering on a pear shape.

hickerydickerydockmouse · 20/01/2019 19:45

shoes that are not flats but have one inch heels or a little block heel but are not eye watering expensive

Kids shirts that go up to their bottom.

Kids knickers that cover fully and don't show their bits under dresses.

gamerwidow · 20/01/2019 19:45

dresses with lower waists
Yes! I am fed up with belts sitting on my rib cage I can’t be the only one freakishly long of body.
Also dresses with sleeves but not stupid bell ones or other oversize nonsense

hickerydickerydockmouse · 20/01/2019 19:50

@AndromedaPerseus and @startedearly I have seen these bras in peacocks.

PippaParty · 20/01/2019 20:31

For small back, larger cup and cheap bras- Primark.

For shirts and dresses cut for a larger bust but still with a small waist - Bravissimo/Pepperberry, often reduced on eBay. They the sell the dress size with curvy or super curvy.

I wish designers would make dresses that I can get on and off myself. How many times have I gone to work with a dress half zipped up at the back, because I just can't reach the zip or move the dress. I am NOT a contortionist.
Or dresses that have no give whatsoever....I end up with numb arms with a sore red stripe where they end on my upper arm.

Boden and Laura Ashley are the worst.

StartedEarly · 20/01/2019 21:21

AndromedaPerseus Those bras look very similar to some I once got from Asda. Unfortunately I didn't buy a dozen, as they haven't had them since. I am pretty flat chested and hate wires. Soft and lightly padded is perfect for me.

hickerydickerydockmouse Will check out Peacocks.

It does seem to be the cheap end of the bra market that does these bras.
