I'm Male. I'm a member for a long-time as MNHQ will no doubt clarify if asked.

DW has been in my life for over 20 years, DSS is 22 and has been in my life since just before he was 2. DD is 19. Over Christmas (DSS not present as lives many miles away) DW told myself and DD her conception date for D(S)S was her birthday - a non-special date in the year (eg: DDs was my birthday over the Christmas period). Over our lives together this has never come to light, and I'm pretty upset as a result. Her ex was very violent and alcoholic during their relationship, no part of their sons' life since 18 months, and apart from a handful of months when DSS was 14 (during which he sought to split us up, acknowledged by social worker who ended contact after school expressed concerns) no contact.

DSS has been raised as my DS, and seen me as such from incredibly young age both in wordage and behaviour, mirroring his sisters' behaviour. Should note he was never encouraged in any way to do so.

So, am I being unreasonable in being upset? Or should DW have been more reserved after so long? Not sure how I'm going to, or supposed to, feel when her birthday rolls around each year.

She wants to share it with you because to her, it was special. It doesn’t matter who was involved, it’s just the date she conceived her son and I’m sure she would like to openly tell you. Be thankful that you have this good of a relationship, that she can speak to you about things like this and I wouldn’t be angry, your relationship sound very strong if she can share this with you.

You are being a bit of a tosser about this OP, and it sounds like, if it really bothers you, you need some therapy. This is your problem. Not hers. But you're not coming back are you? Not sure what sort of a response you expected to get on a site that is posted on mainly by women... no male entitlement going on here, oh no Hmm

CheshireChat · 02/01/2019 20:10

TBF to the OP he might've not said anything to this wife and it's just an irrational knee jerk reaction.

VamillaSugar · 02/01/2019 20:22

Well, if it was a knee jerk, then the knee hit the table and he’s walked off saying “Ow.”

MrMakersFartyParty · 02/01/2019 20:28

Like she never had sex on her birthday. You sound a bit unhinged!

Laiste · 02/01/2019 21:08

Oh i WISH OP would come back!!

It's the ''special day'' bit which i keep going back to as well. No special day.

It's not logical. I can't .... No i just can't get my head around it! Grin

It's not special as in xmas but it was on her birthday so it is special but now it's not special for me even though it's not meant to be special for me because it's hers and not mine but it's ruined now and can't ever be special.

? Yes ?

CheshireChat · 02/01/2019 22:48

VamillaSugar I'm banking that reply for later use!

VamillaSugar · 02/01/2019 23:18

@cheshirecat. It’s yours, with pleasure, my dear Grin

Chloemol · 03/01/2019 00:04

Sorry but I think you need to grow up. She had the child before you got together. You love him as your own. What does it matter when he was conceived. And anyway after twenty years sure,y you could have worked it out yourself anyway

Consolidateyourloins · 03/01/2019 07:43

OP is long gone and unlikely to be reading anymore.
