It's the worst nights sleep ever, child or adult.

I m awake with horrendous period pains codeine not touching them......promised the kids they can get up at 6!!

TheNativityDonkey · 25/12/2018 01:51

Mine are all young adults now but I recall one Christmas where they were up befire is gone to bed myself. It was a long night eith lots of " is it time yet?" So I feel your pain.

I'm up because I am late coming to bed gerting organised rt6c but ive been in bed an hour 6snd nextdoor must have a dog staying for Christmas. It has a very deep and loud bark. It's 1.50am and let's out one bark every 30 seconds or so. It's really annoying and keeping me awake.

CheshireChat · 25/12/2018 02:12

Still have the presents to stack and the footprints to do and DP is bloody dragging his feet.

DS should be in bed until 9 or so, but he woke up at 6 when we had to go to the airport. We had an afternoon flight!

MaverickSnoopy · 25/12/2018 02:15

Oh god this is me. Currently holding 2mo dd post night feed, putting off putting her down, because then we need to fill stockings. 7yo DD came in an hour ago fretting that he's not been. HATE this bit and praying she doesn't wake. She woke at 3am on her birthday! Told her no getting up before 530am. We're all fairly poorly too and really need sleep, especially our 2yo who has a hacking cough. Praying her coughing doesn't wake everyone up. Oh I want sleep! I wish the stockings could be magically filled.

BastardGoDarkly · 25/12/2018 02:17

Just finished everything.

Work has left me exhausted and pissed off.

Really hope I can shake the feeling and enjoy tomorrow Wine

HostessTrolley · 25/12/2018 02:19

I just saw this 😊

AyoadesChinDimple · 25/12/2018 02:21

I'm awake with trigeminal neuralgia. Not pleasant to put it mildly. We leave stockings downstairs now as used to leave them in bedrooms but they'd be awake until 4 asking if he'd been. This way works.

RangerLady · 25/12/2018 02:33

I've had an hours sleep. Myself and dd2 can't sleep for coughing..praying dd1 doesn't wake to find he's been as she will have am almighty tantrum when told to go back to sleep. Have barely slept in days, so needed it tonight.

MaverickSnoopy · 25/12/2018 02:38

Fuuuuuuck half way through filling stockings in our room and 7yo attempts to walk in. Thankfully I could say I was up with baby and she didn't see anything. Problem now is I know dd and she's unlikely to go back to sleep.....

Now I have to stay up because the stockings in our room are done and if she walks in she'll see. Arggghh

YouBetterWORK · 25/12/2018 02:44

I'm awake too, DD is only 10 months but woke upset at 12.30 (only half a hour after I'd got MY head down argh) and as she's had a bad cough is in bed with us. She's a boob monster as of late. Had some sleep and she woke wanting more milk. Now she's taken up all my side of the bed, and I'm sat up wide awake. DH fast asleep (although you ask him tomorrow morning, it's all "yeah I'm really tired I didn't sleep very well" Angry )

Cannot wait for this bastard cough and cold to do one, she's had it ages, and I can finally get a night with my side of the bed to myself for an uninterrupted kip.

In fact, I might take myself off in the afternoon back to bed, a lie in this morning isn't happening we need to get the bastard cooking on.

We didn't do stockings when I was little, and a rule that we weren't allowed downstairs till dad had checked to see if s santa had been.

EdmundSlackbladder · 25/12/2018 02:44

Same here. Got 5 yrs olds stocking on his bed - snoring away merrily. 7 yr old woke as I was about to put his on, swiftly hid it behind my back. He just got up for a cup of water. It’s gonna be a loooooooong night.

Newjobnewstart · 25/12/2018 02:47

Mine didnt nod off till almost gone midnight. Im now bursting for loo but scared to get up incase i wake them. Why are creaky floorboards so much louder in middle of night

cpark · 25/12/2018 02:51

Ugh my baby is teething been up since 1! Full house tomorrow not that anyone will care I've been up most the night!
Good luck!

MaverickSnoopy · 25/12/2018 02:54

We have a plan at least. I'm staying awake for 30 mins to guard the filled stockings. DH is crap and although is willing, would fall asleep in minutes if not seconds. Then we'll fill 2yo stocking. Then see if 7yo is awake and do her stocking. If she's awake we're going to offer to take the stocking downstairs for her, otherwise he won't come if she's awake will he. If she's asleep then grab stocking and fill. If she wakes at any point mid fill we're going to say that Father Christmas has muddled up some of the presents and we're sorting them out or that Father Christmas left her presents on the landing because he thought she might still be awake.

Daisychainsandglitter · 25/12/2018 03:07

I feel your pain OP. My eldest who is 4 is awake too and has been for the last hour. Shock

chrisie16 · 25/12/2018 03:16

LOL LOL LOL LOL xx I loved this! I was the person, guilty as charged, of getting my Herberts up at 4.00 a.m. I couldn't wait! The Bloke did try adjusting the clocks. I felt that was just mean, and ignored it xx lol x

Emelene · 25/12/2018 03:19

I'm up with my 6 week old who won't settle. Not unusual for me! Hope you all have an amazing Christmas with your kids!

Herja · 25/12/2018 03:25

Also awake... We compromised on "no! It's not morning! Go back to bloody bed. Fine, you can open 1 thing. Then GO BACK TO BED". Only now I'm sodding awake.

SisterMortificado · 25/12/2018 03:26

I'm in Aus, so it's a Decent and Reasonable time of day now.
But- although DD(7) was crashed out and snoring by 10.30, we had to hold off stockings and such until she'd been for her midnight poo (which she's done every damn night of her life).
The rustling began at 5.30, and at 6.30 I heard, in that stage whisper all children have, "[Stepdad], is mum awake yet? He's been and I want to show you! " I decided I should probably be officially awake at that point.
Good luck to all those struggling with early wakers/non-sleepers!

Alittlebitofthis · 25/12/2018 03:27

My 6yo ds has been up at 12 then again at 3. He's awake now lying in his bed. I was going to put the stocking in his room but just got dh to put it downstairs

AnotherOriginalUsername · 25/12/2018 03:29

Rule in our house has always been "no presents opened until the dog has been walked". I frequently had my significantly younger sister stay overnight on Christmas Eve and it put a stop to stupidly early starts!

This year our son is up at 3:30am but he's only 3 weeks old so we'll forgive him! Unfortunately we lost the dog recently, we'll have to get another to continue the Christmas morning lie ins!
