Posting for traffic!
Stupid husband has arranged for us to go to MIL for the pressie run on the 22nd-23rd, last minute. I've had my shopping booked for the 22nd for weeks but have now had to cancel. Desperately trying to find another slot but no one has anything in the on the 23rd or 24th.
Ive tried;
Tesco
Asda
Morrisons
Waitrose

Quick! Where am I missing? I really really really don't want to do a whole food shop in person on Christmas Eve!! Sad

I also go shopping on Xmas eve and pick up bargains. But I'm single my kids are older and doing their own thing and I'm only in the shops for about 30 mins. But there are some brilliant bargains to be had at that time.

Eilaianne · 16/12/2018 09:58

So it was in the family calendar and DH just couldn't be arsed to check it? Which means There's no point having it or updating it.

I think you're covering for your man child OP.

You're going to have years of this in store too for any DDs if you show them this lack of teamwork is Normal in a relationship.

Bluesheep8 · 16/12/2018 10:37

Why can't you just go to the shops? You know, like we used to?

Bluesheep8 · 16/12/2018 10:40

Sorry I didn't mean to sound so snippy! Blush

gamerchick · 16/12/2018 10:46

What did we all do before online shopping?

Queued for hours, kicked each others heads in in carparks. Rammed trolleys into ankles.

Thanks to online shopping its no longer like that. Hasn't been like that for years.

mrsdarcey78 · 16/12/2018 17:45

can you ask a family, friend or neighbour to be there for when it comes? or get the husband to do a early morning shop as it is his doing that caused it all?.

dwab45 · 16/12/2018 17:46

Tell DH to fuck off.

missmouse101 · 16/12/2018 17:53

20th/21st would be perfectly ok.

Port1ajazz · 16/12/2018 17:55

Considering how non thinking he's been can't DH go by himself ! Why should you be the only one stressed ?

Daniellamoss · 16/12/2018 18:01

You won't get a slot you should of kepy it. I would of been furious.

Nena1 · 16/12/2018 18:03

@Port1ajazz

Somebody already suggested this. OP explainec DH has ASD and cannot go into crowded places

NotANotMan · 16/12/2018 18:05

5am on Christmas Eve??

Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 18:25

Back in the day people grew and harvested their own food. It didn't come out of a computer. Stop being a drama queen and get your arse to the shops.

purplebunny2012 · 16/12/2018 18:30

I don't understand why you cancelled first! It's Christmas!

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 16/12/2018 18:33

Trouble is people do a massive online shop and then go back into shops just like they used to. Online shopping just increases total fo summon...doesn't replace people going out at all.

manicinsomniac · 16/12/2018 18:45

Glad you've got it sorted.

I'm a bit stunned by the responses you got though. I get that online shopping is preferable to going yourself at Christmas if you're busy. But it's hardly one the same level of importance as a visit to family. Shopping can be done anywhere at any time of any day or night that people are free nowadays.

So it was in the family calendar and DH just couldn't be arsed to check it? Which means There's no point having it or updating it

It's not a family event though, is it? It's a shopping delivery. Something to stay in for if you have nothing else going on. But not a reason not to do something else more interesting instead.

greenpop21 · 16/12/2018 18:46

I'd let him go to his DM and you stay home for the delivery. His cock up!

BiscuitsEqualbiggerknickers · 16/12/2018 18:59

Ocado, just had the same panic (but I was unorganised 😊)

£10 delivery but if your a new customer you get 30% off your bill, actually worked out ok price wise.

Enthymeme · 16/12/2018 19:06

Re arrange MIL OR ask him to do shop OR starve at Xmas and offer it up OR am I missing something? Is it usual to have to make an appointment with MIL?

kenandbarbie · 16/12/2018 19:11

Click n collect?

Leapfrog44 · 16/12/2018 19:20

ocado.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 16/12/2018 19:29

sainsburys
ocado
iceland

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/12/2018 19:31

Sainsburys

Or

Ocado if they deliver nr you

Also asda and maybe morrisons do click and collect so it wont be delivered but you can pop to pick it up

nomorearsingmermaids · 16/12/2018 19:34

I have the opposite gripe to a lot of people on this thread clearly - I simply do NOT understand why in god's name anyone would choose to go the supermarket over online shopping. Just why.

BrendasUmbrella · 16/12/2018 19:34

You should just have said "OK then dearest. I'll cancel the online delivery and you can pick up the shop when we get home on Christmas Eve." He might pay attention to when the shopping is booked in for if it the disruption causes him some inconvenience. At least send him to get the click and collect.
