Caught speeding again... 3rd time

Hello,
I am stupid. I got caught speeding on motorway which went down to 30mph for works in September. I am allowed to do driver improvement course. I have been caught by a van one month LATER. Yesterday I was on motorway again and I'm sure for a second I was driving at 33mph. I'm so ill and worried. I've been driving 18 years and never been been caught speeding.
I need my car for work, does anyone know if I could admit the third driving offence and pleas guilty but ask for a warning not the points?

What do you men caught by a van one month later - a second offence?

And then you had a third offence or you didnt get caught for the third offence?

Three offences is nine points not disqual unless you were over and got more than three for one of them.

Start driving within the speed limit.

Duckherding · 12/12/2018 11:36

Don't speed, you won't get sympathy here 3 times suggests you don't pay attention to the road

CraZzymuMMy · 12/12/2018 11:36

You really shouldn't be driving. 'I haven't been caught' suggests you do this a lot. Speed limits are there for the safety of yourself and everyone else. Would you be asking for excuses if you had killed or injured someone

dippledorus · 12/12/2018 11:37

Stop speeding. Simple.

Elllicam · 12/12/2018 11:38

How many points do you have? 33 seems low to get points.

WoahBaby · 12/12/2018 11:39

Zero sympathy here. I want you off the roads thanks. You are a risk to others. PAY FUCKING ATTENTION!!!! Unfortunately you've still got another 3 points to collect before you get banned. Hope you don't cause an accident in the interim.

RCohle · 12/12/2018 11:40

That should only give you 9 points - unless you already had points on your licence. If your car is that important to you for work then you really need to stop speeding frankly.

NoParticularPattern · 12/12/2018 11:41

Well if you didn’t speed then this wouldn’t be a problem would it? I can’t say I’ve ever struggled to notice signage indicating a reduced speed limit on a motorway. They usually make it pretty obvious. You sound like you’re a danger on the roads if you’re not capable of a) noticing very large signs and b) so forgetful that you do it twice in the same place. Get an eye test or something. Perhaps you’re blind as well as hard of thinking

lynnepot · 12/12/2018 11:41

does anyone know if I could admit the third driving offence and pleas guilty but ask for a warning not the points? - I don't think it works like that. If they dock you points that's it. You should still have 3 points left to play with though after three offences though, no? Abeit your insurance will rocket up a bit.

33mph? Your speedometer in your car may read that but it’s usally 3mph over on the speedometer than what your actually doing.

SlowNorris · 12/12/2018 11:42

Grin 3mph above a 30 limit and she’s a danger to society and herself. MN is fun.

Villanellesproudmum · 12/12/2018 11:44

As Havana says, you might be ok.

PinkHeart5914 · 12/12/2018 11:44

Honestly don’t speed and you don’t get caught, you don’t even need to be intelligent to work that one out

Nicknacky · 12/12/2018 11:44

No, you can’t ask for a warning.

And do you mean you were doing 33mph through roadworks with a temp 30mph limit?

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 12/12/2018 11:45

Well stop fucking speeding then. I'd rather you werent on the road tbh. I'm not saying I've never gone over the limit for a few seconds by accident but three times is taking the piss. They'll be harsh this time as you will be seen as just not caring. It doesn't matter how ill with worry you are, if you keep doing it then they will come down hard.

thenightsky · 12/12/2018 11:45

33 should be OK. But if you've got 2 offences and one was a speed awareness course, then I think you'll get points for the second offence plus the points you avoided by doing the course will be added.

WoahBaby · 12/12/2018 11:46

@SlowNorris yeah it sounds a bit petty 'only' being 3mph over but there's a hell of a difference between 30mph and 40mph in the damage it can do in a car VS pedestrian accident, especially children. Once you factor in margins for error, OP could've been closer to 40 than 30. Plus it's the general lack of attention that just boils my piss frankly. What other laws of the road does OP not bother with?!

Nicknacky · 12/12/2018 11:46

No she won’t get the points from the first offence. That’s been dealt with by the course.

Sitranced · 12/12/2018 11:47

Stop speeding then.

loveka · 12/12/2018 11:51

I went on a motorway course last week. I had been 'caught' doing 58 average in a 50 roadworks on the M1. I actually felt it was unfair, as all the roadworks signs had disappeared. Everyone speeded up, I was still doing 50 and I felt in a difficult position as cars were streaming past me on both sides! I sped up, then around 5 or so miles along there was an 'end of free recovery' sign. So clearly we had all been speeding in a 50 zone.

Anyhow, on the course there was a fair amount of anger because a lot of people had had similar situations. I didn't say anything as I had speeded up without seeing any signs indicating the roadworks had ended.

Anyhow, this course was only an education on smart motorways. They said people don't understand smart motorways sufficiently so this course has been developed.

They said that on smart motorways you will get a fine / points for going over the speed limit as speed is automatically registered. Also they can now detect middle lane joggers and tailgaters (vg!)

Now I don't think this can be strictly true- ie 1 mph over 70 and you get a ticket- but I do think the possibility is there. One guy was there for doing 73mph.

To OP's question. You will do your course for the 1st offence. Any subsequent offences you will get points (and fine)

If you have had 2 more offences that is 6 points. So not the end of the world.

loveka · 12/12/2018 11:52

Hoggers. Joggers really would be a problem!

Gravelface · 12/12/2018 11:57

Sounds like you didn't get points the first time, as you did a course. You have points from the second time and it seems unlikely you'll get points for 33 in a 30, as I would echo the point raised above about your speedo.

Use your cruise control if you have it..

JustABetterPlayer · 12/12/2018 11:59

Get a bike instead, it’s damn near impossible to catch us speeding if we are being observant 😄

JustABetterPlayer · 12/12/2018 12:00

Also surely you are nowhere near 12 points so don’t worry Grin
