To detest washing my hair?

Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Probably one of my most hated jobs every week is washing my hair.
I do absolutely anything I can to get out of it!
4 days of hair down, 2 days of dry shampoo and mum bun until I can pluck up the energy to wash it.
I was even just bargaining with myself that I would do it tomorrow morning instead.
It’s just tedious isn’t it.
My hair is frizzy, dry, thick, takes bloody ages to wash and then an age to dry and straighten and I just cannot be arsed after a long day of work and childcare.
It’s about shoulder length so not even particularly long but is so time consuming.
I can’t go to bed with it wet as I get an itchy scalp and it’s impossible to style in the morning when it’s dried naturally.
Please make me feel less of a minger and tell me other people wash hair once a week too.
In all fairness it never looks greasy, it takes around a week to get oily.
I just feel lazy!

Sat here procrastinating with a towel on my head as I just cannot be bothered to dry and straighten it. Maybe I’ll go with a crop!

I think you’re right.
It’s more the drying I can’t stand.
Perhaps I could get it thinned out at the hairdressers next time.
Such a boring task drying hair!

I love having clean shiny hair! I wash it most days Blush

Ragaroo · 28/11/2018 21:15

Yes I hate it, and my hairs gets greasy so fast!
I have to wash it first thing in the morning, and get up earlier, so I have maximum energy to do it lol. And I always end up wishing I'd done it the night before. However sleeping on it makes it greasy, I can't go 2 sleeps without needing a tonne on dry shampoo, so I try to time it so I get maximum "wear"!

hairwashhatred · 28/11/2018 21:15

I love the clean shiny hair after.
But it’s the process of getting there that I cannot bear! I sound pathetic whinging about hair washing Blush
But just pondering what other people do!

I count myself so bloody lucky that I've got the hair I have. I wash it in the shower every single morning with shampoo (no conditioner ever), bung it in a towel whilst getting ready. Remove towel, brush hair for 1 minute (half way down my back) and carry on with my day. I'm often complemented on my hair even though I don't give it any attention. So very lucky.

hairwashhatred · 28/11/2018 21:16

Wish I had maintenance free hair!
Mines like a mushroom if I don’t blow dry and straighten!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 28/11/2018 21:16

Mine takes a day to get oily and then I can get away with a day with dry shampoo but have to wash it after that.

It also takes so long to dry my hair, I don't use a hairdryer because I get major frizz and it has been known to still be a bit damp in places 24 hours later.

Drives me mad.

PeachesandPie · 28/11/2018 21:16

I'm so with you! I only wash mine once a week too. It's fine in the summer as it dries so quickly into nice curls but a massive pita when it's cold and I need to dry and straighten it.

hairwashhatred · 28/11/2018 21:17

Yep when mine was longer it would still be damp underneath after 24 hours in winter!
The shorter length definitely helps. But still cannot be bothered with the effort!

Milliepatch · 28/11/2018 21:18

I wash my hair daily but i cannot bloody stand drying it! My hair is really long so is a nightmare to dry. I normally leave it wet for about 2 hours before I attempt the hairdryer!

Verbena87 · 28/11/2018 21:18

Total pain in the arse and waste of time we could be using for something actually rewarding (cake, sex, sleep, sitting in silence without doing anything at all...), yep.

I quite like my hair short but currently have it really long as it’ll go 10 days between washes. It’s thick and wavy though so I go to bed with it wet and let it sort itself out - usually fine, occasionally disastrous.

I hate having wet hair and having to dry it but it needs to be washed at least every other day.

haverhill · 28/11/2018 21:19

It doesn’t bother me as my hair’s quite fine and naturally straight. I just wash, put some split end stuff on the ends and leave it. Maybe 2 minutes with a dryer if I’m feeling fancy.
However I’d love thick, wavy hair!

hairwashhatred · 28/11/2018 21:20

It is an utter waste of time! I agree!
And to piss me off even more I discovered after I had wet my head tonight that we were all out of adult shampoo so I’ve just used kids mango L’Oréal. Bet it’s going to dry all crappy now too.

Jezzifishie · 28/11/2018 21:21

I have really thick hair, the only way I can cope with it is by having a pixie cut. I love it - the freedom!

explodingkitten · 28/11/2018 21:21

I dislike washing my hair as well. I have messy curls. I wash it every day and put some product in and that's that. It could look a whole lot nicer if I'd put a frizz controlling creme in and blow dry it but can't be arsed unless I go to a party or funeral. It looks ok-ish without.

JennyOnAPlate · 28/11/2018 21:22

I detest it too. My hair is very thick and very curly and it's just too much faff.

SecretWitch · 28/11/2018 21:23

I hate the feeling of my long wet hair on my body. I brush it straight away after shower, plait it as soon as possible, it should be good for two or three days. The best part is the nice rippley curls when plait is undone.

ShannonRockallMalin · 28/11/2018 21:24

I hate washing my hair too. It’s very thick and although I’ve had it cut to shoulder length it still takes bloody ages to wash, condition and rinse properly. I usually brave it twice a week. Also hate blow drying so try to wash it on a non work day so I can just leave it to dry, but in winter that takes almost all day. I do like my hair, just not its maintenance!

Grimbles · 28/11/2018 21:25

I was the same op, until I started having a keratin treatment on my hair every 12 weeks or so. Used to take me 2 hours to dry, de-frizz and straighten my hair, and now I can do it in 30 mins. I can even go out in this weather without stressing about my hair fizzing up

GeoEm · 28/11/2018 21:26

Yeah I really cba with it either.
After bleaching it back to blonde from blue (yes blue) it takes forever to try.
Sitting with a hair mask on right now and cba going to wash it out.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 28/11/2018 21:28

Mine is a faff. Agree that it's the drying and styling that really put me off.
Sometimes I wash it, bung it in a tight plait still wet and then forget about it because I just can't be arsed. After that I end up rocking the windswept hippy look.
I can remember having the energy to treat, dry and straighten my hair. It looked good. I wonder what happened.
