There seems to be a trend for people calling spaghetti bolognese “spag bowl”......gives me the rage Angry

AIBU?!

What phrases piss you off??!!

What about 'spag bol'?

Is that better?

Rinoachicken · 27/11/2018 10:31

I always thought it was spag bol

RosieAndJimDoTheOldRagDoll · 27/11/2018 10:32

If it's a trend (spag bol not bowl) then it's a long one as I grew up calling it Spag Bol.

SylviaAndSidney · 27/11/2018 10:33

Spag bol, not bowl. I know someone who calls it ‘sketty bollocks’, as do her (young) children 🙄

MrsStrowman · 27/11/2018 10:33

I have genuinely never seen spag bowl in my life, spag bol, yes I might jot it on the list when I'm meal planning. Would never say it though

caperplips · 27/11/2018 10:34

I know..I can't stand it.
Thankfully I don't know anyone in real life who says it, I only ever see it written on here but it sets my teeth on edge

Livinglavidal0ca · 27/11/2018 10:34

I say spag bog Grin

Avegemitesandwich · 27/11/2018 10:34

Urgh, spag bol is just as bad tbh!

JudgeyMuch · 27/11/2018 10:35

Tagliatelle pasta works much better with a ragu sauce than spaghetti and is what you'd be served in Bologna.

HTH

aoeu · 27/11/2018 10:35

We've always called it spag bog. Just rolls off the tongue easier.

Houseonahill · 27/11/2018 10:35

Life is too short for all those extra syllables.

Namestheyareachangin · 27/11/2018 10:35

I feel the same about 'mac and cheese' OP Blush I know it's silly to get so irritated but...argh!

NoUnicornsToSeeHere · 27/11/2018 10:37

It’s ragu actually Grin

RagingWhoreBag · 27/11/2018 10:37

I’ve always thought bowl was an autocorrect for Bol. I write bologs on the Tupperware when I freeze leftovers just because it makes me giggle

What really pisses me off is people called it Bolonaise - makes it sound like some kind of French dressing.

JudasPrudy · 27/11/2018 10:37

Op is your objection to 'spag bowl' rather than 'spag bol'? If so YANBU.

empmalswa · 27/11/2018 10:38

Never heard anyone say spag bowl, bol as a shortening for bolognese, but never bowl

DoingMyBest2010 · 27/11/2018 10:39

'French stick'. No, it's not a stick. It's a baguette. Oh and the word 'fag' - ugh.

empmalswa · 27/11/2018 10:39

What really pisses me off is people called it Bolonaise

That's literally the only way I have ever heard it pronounced! What are we supposed to be saying?

grincheux · 27/11/2018 10:40

I sent DP a text with autocorrect's "help" regarding "spat bog" for dinner a few weeks ago and it's stuck.

No bolognese in this camp. We eat spat bog now.

caperplips · 27/11/2018 10:40

I have never seen / heard Spag bowl but definitely have read spag bol

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 27/11/2018 10:40

I hate the the word spag bol.

ShotsFired · 27/11/2018 10:40

Saying "Spag Bol" is surely better than some godawful fake Italian accent?

"Zeee spaaaa-gettteeeee bol-og-nyesiiiii ees oon zeee tay-byle!"

Monty27 · 27/11/2018 10:41

I call it bollock knees. because i only cook it when cba to cook anything else
Confused

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 27/11/2018 10:41

I’m also team ragù Grin

Holidayshopping · 27/11/2018 10:45

I have never heard spag bowl?!

It’s long been called spag bol though!
