to think little mix preaching body positivity is questionable

i am all for the message of body positivity in women and i know there is always something we generally dont like or would change, but i watched little mix on the beeb saturday night and wondered what had happened to the one that had come in for some stick originally. (i thought she looked fine but you watch these groups get groomed and moulded and styled into the new cheryl coles) anyway i thought they must have replaced "jesy" .

nope. she has however morphed into a shadow of former self in that she is completely unrecognisable. she must have had some major surgery to actually look like a totally different person.

now ok it happens. and its up to her i guess.
but then i read today about the song on their new album promoting body positivity and image and loving what you have etc and thought hang on a minute Confused

is it not a bit rich coming from a group who have morphed into the usual with one morphing into looking like a whole other person completely clearly with the help of a ton of plastic surgery?

maybe iabu but thank god my DD is an adult if thats the message girls are getting.
yeah be positive and love yourself but only if you haven't got a few million in the bank to change it. disappointing.

Yes im not keen on their appearance considering who their biggest fans are but hey ho

Sirzy · 19/11/2018 11:57

It doesn’t sit right with me either, the photos seem so photoshopped and unnatural which rather goes against the idea.

coppercolouredtop · 19/11/2018 12:00

google jesy though....before and after. that girl has had some serious and very obvious work done. its not just their image for me.....its the fact she has had so much surgery she actually looks like someone else!

YANBU... you should love yourself... so long as you're surgically altered...

ZeroFuchsGiven · 19/11/2018 12:02

Im glad it wasn't just me who noticed that, it took me a while to realise Jesy was Jesy! She's almost morphed into Jade, She looks more like Jade now than like Jesy. Really wierd.

cadburysflake · 19/11/2018 12:10

I thought the same, she doesn’t even look like the same girl. I just hope they have sunk without trace by the time my 2 year old is into groups like that, I find them totally inappropriate for little girls anyway.

Baking101 · 19/11/2018 12:24

Might it not just be weight loss and photoshopping to make them look similar? Plus make up.

Not sure if she's had plastic surgery based on the photos but you can see she's lost a fair amount of weight and toned up.

RobertDeNiro · 19/11/2018 12:27

The whole notion that stripping off as female pop stars is down to ‘empowerment’ is such bollocks. They all dress like strippers in their music videos because sex sells, simple as that. And Perrie and Jesy look considerably different these days as well.

CruCru · 19/11/2018 12:28

Has she actually had surgery? I thought she had lost weight and had a lot of contouring make up on.

coppercolouredtop · 19/11/2018 12:31

I'd definitely say surgery. Look at her lips and face shape before . She had a cute round little face. I'm sure contouring and weight loss are a factor but her face is unrecognisable.

BathFullOfEels · 19/11/2018 12:31

If you watch the video of their new song you can see how much work she’s had done baking. The first scene when they’re in the back of a van Jesy looks completely unrecognisable. Soooo much filler.

coppercolouredtop · 19/11/2018 12:33

I googled jest before and after. I'm usually rubbish at spotting surgical alterations but this one is soooo obvious.

OP posts:
BathFullOfEels · 19/11/2018 12:34

I don’t think contouring makes your face look like this.

Badtasteflump · 19/11/2018 12:35

Absolutely agree. I don't follow Little Mix at all but remembered them from X Factor. When they were on TV on Saturday I couldn't believe they were the same people!

I think the saddest thing is that women in that industry in particular all seem to morph into the same 'look' - that, I presume, would take surgery or at least some botox and fillers!

So yes, the whole idea of 'empowerment' is a piss take.

coppercolouredtop · 19/11/2018 12:36

I wouldn't mind it's just the message they are delivering with it about living your self blah blah ....

Except if your rich and a pop star then you can love yourself a bit more after all your surgery!

OP posts:
CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 19/11/2018 12:38

Jesus! I’ve just had a look at what she looks like and she is a completely different person. How sad.

Badtasteflump · 19/11/2018 12:39

Found this 'before' and 'after' pic. No way could that be achieved without surgery.

JellieEllie · 19/11/2018 12:42

I agree.
Why are they posing naked and promoting that you shouldn't feel unconfident in your own skin. Shouldn't let bullies and society make you conform to someone you aren't.
And then have the image photoshopped to within an inch of its life?

Unfortunately I believe it's just a sly way of them being able to get their kit off for money without them being accused of sexualising themselves as in previous years.

And lets not forget they have just been dropped by Syco their management and have an album out.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 19/11/2018 12:47

Agree she's probably had lips, cheeks and chin done.

SoupDragon · 19/11/2018 12:48

The biggest change seems to be that she's lost her round cheeks.

totallyliterally · 19/11/2018 12:49

I thought new video was a bit off.

Them in tiny pants shoving their arses out and then lots of 'normal' women dancing about in underwear. Really not sure what message that gives

IrmaFayLear · 19/11/2018 12:49

Dh and I watch the old Top of the Pops from the 80s. It's a bit bizarre that women are supposed to be "empowered" now, yet female pop stars back then were very much clad in a full set of clothes, no overly-sexual gyrating and crude lyrics (hark at me!). On the last TOTP there was Kate Bush and Eurythmics (Annie Lennox) and the top ten had many female acts.

It rankles with me that every male pop star now (eg recent Jason Derulo video) will be grooving away fully clad - nay, in a big coat - whilst women disport themselves around him wearing nothing. This is not empowerment nor embracing one's sexuality!

Bluetrews25 · 19/11/2018 12:51

I noticed this too - they are all morphing into one generic face, from what I can see. Low self esteem and body dysmorphia, anyone?
