to think little mix preaching body positivity is questionable

i am all for the message of body positivity in women and i know there is always something we generally dont like or would change, but i watched little mix on the beeb saturday night and wondered what had happened to the one that had come in for some stick originally. (i thought she looked fine but you watch these groups get groomed and moulded and styled into the new cheryl coles) anyway i thought they must have replaced "jesy" .

nope. she has however morphed into a shadow of former self in that she is completely unrecognisable. she must have had some major surgery to actually look like a totally different person.

now ok it happens. and its up to her i guess.
but then i read today about the song on their new album promoting body positivity and image and loving what you have etc and thought hang on a minute Confused

is it not a bit rich coming from a group who have morphed into the usual with one morphing into looking like a whole other person completely clearly with the help of a ton of plastic surgery?

maybe iabu but thank god my DD is an adult if thats the message girls are getting.
yeah be positive and love yourself but only if you haven't got a few million in the bank to change it. disappointing.

It's quite clear from an earlier pic posted that Leigh-anne has gotten rid of her black feature and now has a long straight "white" nose. Sad really that she felt the need Sad

I agree with you about the message being somewhat hollow OP.

As for Jesy, people were vicious about her appearance before. I’m not surprised she has felt pressure to alter herself.

It makes me relieved to have only sons, TBH, this weird toeing the line of “women aren’t sex objects and should be comfortable with themselves, but it’s totes cool to carve up your face and dress up to harden dicks when your job is supposed to be singing”. And we’re meant to pretend it’s empowering, if it’s empowering why aren’t men doing it?

I felt a great deal of empathy for her when I saw the video to , in which she's so clumsily edited to look thinner that it's offensive - the stripes on the background really obviously warp around her and only her at several points, especially when she's lined up with her bandmates (like at 0.54. Yeah, I just watched it again and I'm cross now).

It goes so far beyond photoshopping to warp and stretch every frame of someone in a video. She literally wasn't allowed to be real, and I bet she got pulled up about it by their management. Little wonder she had surgery in an atmosphere like that.

Back in the day female popstars looked like they were having fun

Always thought she was the double of Carol Vordeman.
