The whole active thread list is always taken up by tons of trans bashing threads. How is it acceptable? Anything relating to anyone transgender is bashed. If this was against another minority of people, race, sexuality, religion it would be taken down and reported as hate crime. I don’t understand how the feminism board makes it acceptable?

Poor Ali GGrin

YuhBasic · 15/11/2018 19:06

I haven’t seen any trans bashing. Literally none.

What I have seen is women stating their belief that men cannot become women. That opinion is every bit as valid as the opinion of some people that men can become women - except it’s just that bit more valid because it’s factually true.

Imagine being so sure you was born as the wrong sex that you was severely depressed your whole life but women only thought you did it because you wanted to destroy all of their rights

If you see something that is actually a hate crime, please report it.

If you see a discussion on the nuance of how some trans rights activists are pushing for changes that might disadvantage women, maybe have a read and a think.

Discussing a clash of rights is not, in itself 'phobic'.

PortiaCastis · 15/11/2018 19:08

Hate crime ......I don't think so just women trying to stick up for themselves and their rights and anyway the active list is more diverse than trans this that and the other as different matters are also important to women such as pregnancy childbirth womens health and so on. Today there have been a lot of brexit threads which is understandable but hate crime nooo what bollocks !!

CrabbyPatty · 15/11/2018 19:08

What I see is widespread scaremongering and harmful generalisations about the trans community. I see that as transphobic. Being racist is a different opinion but its still racist! As women we are greater risk of physical and sexual violence and verbal harassment from men, so why the obsession with trans? FYI I'm a straight woman, not trans and don't hate men.

Elfinablender · 15/11/2018 19:08

Not being on board with trans orthodoxy is not a hate crime.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/11/2018 19:08

I do not hate people who are trans. I am, however, cross about the proposed changes to self-ID because of the risks it poses to women and girls - predators will seize on it as a new way to gain access to single sex spaces.

I am angry about the trans woman who is going into beauty forums and asking girls as young as 11 about their periods, and who wants to be approached by girls in the Ladies’ loos for advice on using tampons - he wants to offer to help them insert their tampons.

I am angry about people born male bodied, who grew up with the physical advantages that confers for certain sports - height, strength, bone density, muscle mass, lung capacity etc and who are using those advantages to beat biological women.

I am angry about someone who would, in the past, have been called a cross dresser, getting s place on a list of high achieving women. I am angry that comic relief have chosen a trans woman as their first woman of achievement (this may not be exactly the right title but they are featuring influential women).

I am angry that children are being given puberty blockers that could have life long effects on them, and may turn them into asexual, infertile people.

I am angry that lesbians who do not want penis-in-vagina sex with male bodied trans women are being told THEY are too focussed on genitalia, and the trans women are discussing how best to break through the cotton ceiling (which means the lesbians’ knickers) and that some lesbians can ’cope’ with PIV sex.

I am angry that Shon Faye - a prominent trans activist has said ‘Women - enjoy your erasure’.

I am angry at being told I am not a woman, I am a ciswoman, as if I merely belong to a subset of womanhood. I am angry about the toxic stereotypes of male and female that back up the trans activism.

I am angry that Girl Guiding UK have said that a trans girl (a male bodied young person) could share a tent with adolescent girls and their parents would not have the right to be to,d - which is a real safeguarding issue.

I am angry at the angry subset of the trans community who want their rights at the expense of women and girls, and their rights and safety - and who do not care one jot about this.

Whyisthisacceptable · 15/11/2018 19:09

@caprisunorange I said transgender people not men

What hate crimes have you seen OP? Is criticism of an ideology and support of sex based rights a criminal act now?

Omgineedanamechange · 15/11/2018 19:09

“Hate crime” doesn’t mean what you think it means.

I don't believe it's possible to change sex, I don't believe transwomen are women and I think alot of the current trans ideology is regressive and homophobic. Am I a criminal OP?

Whyisthisacceptable · 15/11/2018 19:12

So it’s the fear that a man could pretend to be trans in order to attack women or girls? Which must be such a small minority of people. And also not truly transgender if their sole motivation is to use it as a cover. I don’t see how that’s different to assuming everyone from one religion could be a terrorist.
So yes, transphobic.

To think mumsnet is full of hate crime?
MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 15/11/2018 19:13

@CrabbyPatty - nothing to do with hiding something "boring", it's just there's no point engaging in those threads if you disagree.

It's only Mumsnet, it's highly unlikely to change the world!

Caprisunorange · 15/11/2018 19:13

Plenty of people assume that people from one religion are terrorists. That doesn’t actually make them guilty of hate crime Shock

TwistedStitch · 15/11/2018 19:13

Can you define 'truly transgender' please?

PlantsArePeopleToo · 15/11/2018 19:13

Pretty sure that in order for something to be a hate crime an actual crime needs to have been commited in the first place. The hate bit itself is not a crime.

However do feel free to report all these alleged hate crimes on here to the police.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 15/11/2018 19:13

Imagine being so sure you was born as the wrong sex that you was severely depressed your whole life but women only thought you did it because you wanted to destroy all of their rights

Yeah. Because that's it in a nutshell, isn't it?

Whyisthisacceptable · 15/11/2018 19:13

Why is trans ideology homophobic?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 15/11/2018 19:13

Mumsnet has loads of Trans threads. A topic has been suggested more than once.
As it is I hide them individually.

If you are seeing hate crime report it to MNHQ.

Blanchedupetitpois · 15/11/2018 19:15

You’re completely right. It’s one of the corners of the internet where transphobia flourishes. But people will argue that as long as they adhere to MN’s (incredibly watered down and inconsistently enforced) talk guidelines, they aren’t being transphobic. It’s an absolute pit of transphobia though. It’s a good idea to hide the threads - any attempt to challenge views is futile and exhausting.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 15/11/2018 19:15

And also not truly transgender if their sole motivation is to use it as a cover

Is there a handy guide to how to differentiate the 'truly transgender' from those 'faking it for nefarious intent', then?
