That a male just won a women’s cycling World Championship?

Can’t really get my mind round this tbh though i was aware of another male Laurel Hubbard taking medals in the Women’s Weight Lifting World Championships earlier this year. Are we really ready for males winning the Women’s Wimbledon Title and the women’s Olympic 100m Final?

Strange that, eh? Maybe if she ran in men's races and started beating them then we'd hear a whimper.

ConcreteUnderpants · 21/10/2018 11:25

I'd be pretty interested to see what the winner's testosterone levels were like.
I'm sure I read somewhere that he doesn't believe in taking the androgeny medication as it's against his human rights...

AvoidingDM · 21/10/2018 11:36

I wonder if the IOC and the Athletics Federation are trying to sort of create a stance without saying we are banning trans athletes but make it impossible for them to compete.
Caster is sort of caught up within the same regulations.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 12:49

Regarding testosterone levels, I'm sure Rachel has said they are low, lower than some women.
I don't know about muscle mass, heart and lung size however, maybe that has been conveniently ignored?

WitchyMcWitchface · 21/10/2018 15:09

No the levels for T women are much higher than a normal women's for transgender women in sport. But then you get cases like caster semenya who has high levels. But then you get normal women being banned if they take extra testosterone.

Testost Levels in sport are something like men 13nmols, Trans women 10nmols, women 2nmols. Fair eh?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 15:11

I thought she had said here measured lower?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 15:11

ConcreteUnderpants · 21/10/2018 15:54

Prettu sure not.
Especially as she states that, "There is no evidence that having a higher produced value of endogenous testosterone has any performance advantages at all. The evidence does not bear that out. So that is the second myth: the more testosterone you have, naturally, the better you are. So trans women might be male early on, and that on average such bodies have more endogenous naturally testosterone, therefore they’re stronger because of that. We have evidence that is just not the case."

Really don't think she is doing transpeople any favours at all.

Badmoonsarising · 21/10/2018 16:17

Peter Tatchel has spoken on this - he can’t see why transwomen are being picked out for having a physical advantage when many athletes naturally have a physical advantage anyway 🤔. The video debate is quite interesting though.

Maybe the word natural is quite important hereHmm

I wish Mr Tatchel and his recent comments/non-letter signing etc would just fuck right off.

FekkoTheLawyer · 21/10/2018 17:36

Really? He can't see this?

TwistedStitch · 21/10/2018 17:43

Peter Tatchell can see it fine. It's just a shame that he's turned out to be yet another raging misogynist pretending to be progressive.

FissionChips · 21/10/2018 17:44

I thought it very suspect that PT brought up fast twitch muscle... .

LikeIcare · 21/10/2018 17:48

PT always was a twat.

What astounds me is the level of self-delusion of the TW. Tweeting about breaking world records on an average day. No you're not the fastest woman in the world because you're not a woman.

Hazza000 · 21/10/2018 17:49

Fucking disgusting

ConcreteUnderpants · 21/10/2018 18:12

^^
And I like i said, I really don't think Rachel M has done the movement any favours.
I especially thought her non acceptance of the apology really shit and essentially just used it as another excuse to bash the bronze winner.

SlowlyShrinking · 21/10/2018 18:45

Yet again trans activists trying to conflate intersex conditions, where there may actually be a debate to be had about fairness (both to intersex and non-intersex competitors) and transwomen athletes, where there’s no confusion at all about the fact that they’re male, because only males can be transwomen.

WitchyMcWitchface · 21/10/2018 18:57

The IAAF are changing the rules on testosterone levels

"Really don't think she is doing transpeople any favours at all."

It's really not. There is no requirment for Rachel to compete against females except her own desire to win!

Other trans people are suffering and looking for help to deal with crippling dysphoria and Rachel if front stage beating women in women's sport.

Badly done.

LittlePearl · 21/10/2018 21:00

Good grief, the cognitive dissonance there is astonishing.

Tatchell knows full well that there is a world of difference between two men competing where one might have a genetic advantage over the other, and a woman competing against a man.

It's not all about testosterone, there are a myriad of things that give men an advantage over women and he knows it. Utterly sickening.

I shouldn't be surprised anymore but the hatred of women, expressed without any sense of conscience, is terrifying.

Quite heartening really, as are the Daily Mail comments. Unsurprisingly not full of abuse, but comments about it being unfair.

Another issue is of course, is how she isn't officially cheating, as she is playing within the current rules!
