I may be very unreasonable to ask this... and nosey... but I need to lose a bit of weight and I wonder if I tend to eat more or less than other people. My husband seems to eat very little really but is slightly overweight.

So, if you want to, hit me with your HONEST food diary for today/yesterday/a typical day.

OP posts:
Youngandfree · 20/12/2018 12:38

Yesterday

Bacon butter and cup of tea

Small bowl of jambalaya (leftovers from dinner previous night)

McDonald’s for dinner (we were on the road) so burger and chips and a coke.

I don’t even think of my calories I just try to eat when hungry and that’s it.
I weigh just over 8stone.

Youngandfree · 20/12/2018 12:39

feelingverylazytoday · 20/12/2018 14:05

I'm in the normal BMI category (just), this is what I normally eat -
Breakfast (after swimming) - beans on wholemeal toast with a poached egg or a fishfinger sandwich. A banana
Lunch - usually just a sandwich
Dinner- something like salad with omelette and new potatoes or lentil and vegetable stew
Snacks - an iced bun, porridge or a couple of slices of toast and jam.
I've lost over 4 stones over the last couple of years. I normally swim for an hour 5 times a week and walk about 10 miles a day (not through choice, it's just how life is at the moment).

Whyislarryhappy · 20/12/2018 14:11

Honest from yesterday
Breakfast skipped
am snack chocolate coin and apple
Lunch cheese and ham toasties
Dinner veg bake with coleslaw
2 chic biscuits inbetween
Breakfast half bowl of cornflakes
Snack milkyway cake bar
Lunch cheese salad sandwich

Probably better than how I normally eat. I usually skip breakfast though!

knittedjest · 20/12/2018 14:12

I have a pretty limited diet. I'm not a picky eater but find a few foods I like and then eat them everyday for months.

No breakfast

Lunch: A pork fillet and vegetable baguette or chicken rice paper rolls with peanut dipping sauce. Or a medium 6 nugget meal from McDonalds.

Dinner: Whatever is cooked for the family or if I don't want that some strawberries, mango and banana blended together with some water into a sorbet.

I also typically eat a couple of those kids kinder chocolate bars a day and drink a small can of vanilla coke. Besides that I just drink water or iced tea sweetened with lavender.

Huntawaymama · 20/12/2018 14:16

Breakfast
Glass of water and cup of tea
Protein bagel with avacado and scrambled egg (yes really it's my fave and I have it 5 times a week I'm not being faddy) or a couple of times a week I'll have a bacon sandwich

Mid morning
Glass of water cup of tea and a banana

Lunch
Glass of water
Homemade vegetable soup and a tuna sandwich and whisper/snickers/similar

Mid afternoon
Cup of tea and couple of ginger biscuits

Dinner
Glass of water
Usually a "hearty" meal like, beef stew or sausage casserole or a lamb dinner
Strawberries and cream (3/4 times a week)

A couple more glasses of water and maybe another cup or tea before bed. I'm breastfeeding and looking at this I need to drink more 🤔

MyBreadIsEggy · 20/12/2018 14:19

I go from one extreme to the other - I either eat loads, or I eat very little.
I’m one of those “skinny-fat” people - I’m very petite, but I openly admit I am very unhealthy.
I’m a smoker too.
On a good day I’ll have:
Breakfast: cup of tea and a cigarette
Mid morning: coffee and a biscuit
Lunch: sandwich and some salad
Mid afternoon: coffee and a piece of fruit or a biscuit
Dinner: family meal, pasta/roast/chilli - something hearty and home cooked
Evening: cup of tea and more biscuits
I usually smoke about 5 cigarettes a day.

On a bad day:
Breakfast: cup of tea and a cigarette
Mid morning: coffee
Lunch: coffee and a packet of crisps
Mid afternoon: coffee
Dinner: sandwich/random leftovers from freezer/takeaway/ready meal

I don’t drink anywhere near enough water, and feel like crap most of the time. My goal for the New Year is to keep a food and water diary so I can get a grip of myself!

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/12/2018 14:24

Yesterday
Breakfast Cup of coffee,
4pm Cheese roll
7.15pm veggie casserole consisting of 3 vegan sausages , cauliflower rice , 1/2 bag of mixed Chinese vegetables and a 1/4 jar of chunky veg tomato sauce.

Put 1lb on as I had over stuffed myself.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 20/12/2018 14:26

I do intermittent fasting and tend to eat one large 1000 calorie meal a day and a big bow of Skyr and honey.

MrsCar · 20/12/2018 14:29

2 slices of toast & cup of tea
Mini twix

4 cream crackers with cheese

moomoogalicious · 20/12/2018 14:32

Good day:
small bowl of muesli with soya milk
banana
salad and tuna
enchiladas
satsuma
small choc bar

usual day today
small bowl rice krispies with soya milk
fry up with sausage, bacon, black pudding, toast
5 heroes

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/12/2018 14:39

So far today:
Piece of chorizo
Greek yoghurt

About 6 coffees with milk

I should really eat something, I'm out on my do tonight and if I drink wine on an empty stomach it will not end well....

Normal day I don't eat breakfast, I have eggs for lunch, usually with cheese or avocado, or bacon (or all), and dinner would be meat plus veg in some combination. Usually a full fat Greek yogurt and raspberries or nuts.

I try very hard not to eat sugar and bread/cereal/ pasta. This time of year the sugar is my nemesis, it's everywhere

Notmorewashing · 20/12/2018 14:54

Whole Brie
Half a baguette
Latte
Fried egg and toast beans
Mince pie
Roses chocs

Gogreen · 20/12/2018 14:59

Breakfast- 2 cups of tea, one sugar in each

Lunch -3 cups of tea (I dont really eat breakfast or lunch)

Dinner last night- spag Bol and about 10 little celebration sweets,
Dinner tonight-McDonald’s

Not healthy, but I’m not trying to be, I am losing weight though so need to address this soon and sort myself out!!

Happinessisabook · 20/12/2018 15:05

Yesterday I had

2 cups of tea with about 20ml semi skimmed milk in each
1 litre low cal squash
1 litre water
2 egg omelette with 2 slices ham and some cheddar (fry lite to cook it)
Tin of asda chunky soup for lunch
Chicken breast, carrot, broccoli, peas, cauliflower, mash (made with semi skimmed milk and full fat lurpack) and gravy for dinner.
3 crackers with some smoked salmon cream cheese on for snacks

Cupcakecafe · 20/12/2018 15:07

Today so far I've had 2 cups of tea, a tin of ravioli, 3 slices boiled ham, 2 crispbreads with cream cheese and smoked salmon, and 3 crackers with cheese roule on.

Not very healthy but I rarely fancy real food at the minute so tend to just pick randomly at the cupboards.

NKFell · 20/12/2018 15:17

Yesterday:

Porridge (and 2 cups of coffee)
Banana
Ploughman's sandwich and pickled onion monster munch (2 cups of coffee)

Snack of rice cakes and fruit.
Dinner- grilled hallumi, rocket, pistachios, avocado, tomato, Jerusalem artichoke and lemon. Snack of chocolate before bed!Blush

Lettermethis · 20/12/2018 15:39

Breakfast - porridge with cacao powder, chai seeds, blueberries with almond milk

Lunch - poached eggs, smoked salmon on sourdough bread.

Dinner - home cooked prawn & pineapple curry with lots of veggies & whole grain rice.

Snack - half a BIG bag of tyrells crisps.

I used to be a size 22, but changed my lifestyle completely and I've been a size 10 for 5 years now. And I eat MORE than I used to! It's about variety and making better choices.

lljkk · 20/12/2018 15:44

My BMI is about 21.5. I'm a pig & eat a huge amount, far more than my TDEE says I should eat (I'm 51 yo). Yesterday I was mostly sedentary but did about 60 minutes of fast skating, & ate

Medium-large bowl of 50:50 oats & blueberries with FF milk
2 small chocolate balls
2 cups of tea with FF milk
LOTS of Caesar salad with dressing, parmesian, & 2 huge pieces of 'everything' pizza (thin crust)
1 heavy Xlarge oatmeal raisin cookie
Maybe 40% of a (enormous) cheese+ham calzone; my 19yo son ate the other half & was full.
Maybe 3 oz of lemonade

... may have had a large banana, too.
I'm about to do 2 hrs of canoeing so might work some of that off :)

Xenia · 20/12/2018 15:52

Yesterday salmon with loads of stir fry veg in oilve oil plus broccli and spinach.

Later on a seeded bread roll with butter and after raspberries, cherries (a very expensive treat).

Later 2 baked potatoes with butter and half a pack of feta cheese.

Mmmmm lovely

Cheekysquirrel · 20/12/2018 16:23

Yesterday:
Slice of toast for breakfast
Nothing for lunch
Two fingers of kitkat mid afternoon
Slice of toast for dinner

Today is much the same.
Most days are! Often minus the kitkat mind you. I went hypo (on insulin) so had to have it.

Babygrey7 · 20/12/2018 16:33

cheeky, how can you live off that?!

These threads always amaze me

I eat about 2500 cals a day, I reckon (rarely add it all up, too much work Grin)

I have toast or (2 slices, one with peanut butter, one with jam) or muesli with fruit and yoghurt, or porridge with milk and brown sugar

Lunch:
Often get a salad and a baguette at Pret (my colleagues say I eat two "mains" but the salads are more of a side, IMO). Or a soup and a sandwich.

Dinner:
Something involving carbs (pasta, rice, potato) Protein (meat, fish) and vegetables. yesterday spag bol and cucumber salad, today a creamy chicken stew with rice and green beans

snacks: fruit or a biscuit or some chocolate or some crisps

This is my "normal", it is quite normal, right?
