I may be very unreasonable to ask this... and nosey... but I need to lose a bit of weight and I wonder if I tend to eat more or less than other people. My husband seems to eat very little really but is slightly overweight.

So, if you want to, hit me with your HONEST food diary for today/yesterday/a typical day.

today is cheat day (however with 45 mins intense cardio + 25min walk to work)

so it will likely be -

Breakfast - strawb protein shake a couple of filter coffees
mid-morning - some form of chocolate
lunch - chicken chunks, fruit and yogurt
dinner - blow out chinese (crispy lamb, kung po beef, ribs, seaweed, singapore chowmein etc)

having a proper cheat meal or day makes the disapline in the week worth it.

I've weight myself on the scales -3lb so I'm happy with that! (my typical weekday food is on my 1st comment on this thread, hard work but its paying off)

I don’t eat breakfast. Lunch is usually soup and / or sandwich and some light crisps like sunbites or quavers. Dinner is something like veggie fajita mix with salad, sweet corn fritters with egg and avocado, spaghetti pomodoro, veggie chilli, veggie sausages with roasted veg etc. I also drink tea and Diet Coke, and often have a small chocolate bar like a kit Kat or a penguin for a snack. I lost lots of weight recently doing the above but cutting the chocolate and having half my plate every night be salad - I need to get back to that discipline!

Keep forgetting to eat because I'm so busy!
Worst day was on Tuesday. Only had two cups of tea and a biscuit, then cleaned non stop in other people's houses for over 6 hours.
Only had chewing gum.
Really bad hunger pangs 8 hours later. Could only drink milk before I could even think of eating solids.
I really don't have time to eat!

Today has been better.

Porridge for breakfast and a prawn salad for lunch. Will have an apple for snack later. We're out for dinner later so I'll probably have 2 courses then which will undo the earlier good work!

Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast: half a nectarine and a bowl of shreddies with full fat milk

Lunch: Ham sandwich, cucumber sticks with a garlic yoghurt dip and a bag of hola hoops Blush

Mid afternoon whispa Blush

Dinner: butternut squash and sage risotto, followed by a low fat lemon yoghurt.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant so probably eating more than usual (though skipping the usual alcohol calories). I'm 5ft 1ins, normally about 8 stone and so a healthy bmi.

Is nobody going to 'fess up and add "plus every meal and snack: my children's leftovers"?

Today is an ordinary day
Breakfast
a cup of tea

Someone brought cake in to work so I had a slice (with a cup of tea)

Lunch - I brought in some leftover paella but was still hungry so accidentally bought myself some sushi when I was buying it for my daughter's supper.

Supper for me will be (after I've dropped my daughter off at her dad's for the weekend), microwave popcorn, and the fruit bowl which currently has plums, apples and satsumas in it. I'm pretty sure only the apples will be left after I've had a browse.

I'll probably drink a lot more tea and watch another episode of Vikings.

Tomorrow
Breakfast will be a cup of tea and a warm sausage roll freshly made from the local butcher's where I shall also by a large amount of biltong. Will go and buy fruit too. That's probably it for the day though as I'm not at work and won't remember to eat again until around 5pm by which time it'll be supper and my daughter will be home - we will possibly watch Strictly with marmite on toast.

Dont think what you eat really matters. As long as you don't over eat and eat junk food. I would say that the exercise is more important. Try and get at least an hour's excerise in each day.

I'm a size 10, 5ft 3" & weigh 9st 1lb.

Mon - Fri I eat 3 meals a day, don't snack inbetween & drink lots of hot water. At the weekend I will indulge in anything I fancy although in moderation. I find over eating really affects my MH so I'm careful to still be sensible even on my relaxed days.

M-F is normally:
B - yogurt, fruit & OJ
L - sandwich & fruit
T - pasta/rice with meat/prawns & lots of veg

Drinks - between 8/10 hot waters & a glass of cold water after tea & before bed.

Weekend pretty much the same but will enjoy a glass of wine & a dessert.

Exercise - during the week I don't do much "proper" exercise but keep active running errands & housework but at the weekend we always try to get out for a walk both days.

I go by everything in moderation. Boring but works for me.

I totally fluctuate (like most people I imagine) I’ll go through “good” phases where I watch the calories and I do 5:2 and I don’t drink for a few weeks and then I go through phases (like right now) where my fuck it button is pressed and I overeat and drink too much.

I’ve had more of the latter than the former over the last few years and am carrying 10lbs more than I’d like to, though am still within a healthy bmi range.

I think it’s worth seeing what your body responds to best and what won’t make you feel so restricted in your eating that you want to binge. Funnily enough during me good cycles I also really enjoy my food and eat much more delicious stuff - when in a bad phase the food I tend towards has no value being tasty or healthy!

Gosh the diets of some people on here are incredible.

I think I’m pretty lucky that I have a good metabolism and pretty much eat what I want. I’m not skinny but my bmi is around 23, size 12. Yesterday I ate:

2 slices white toast and marmite for breakfast
Large salad of cous cous, leaves, halloumi, roasted veg and hummus for lunch
Personal domino’s veggie supreme pizza and potato wedges for dinner
1/2 a packet of Percy Pigs

That’s quite a bad day for me but not out of the ordinary. I eat out a lot. I like big portions.

I was pleased yesterday that having guessed I'd eat a kitkat and a bag of crisps as snacks, I just had the kitkat and a low calorie hot chocolate.

Today:
B: 1 slice of Vogel seed bread, boiled egg and coffee
L: 1 slice vogel seed bread, an avocado, an apple and some melon slices
S: cups of tea
D: will be hairy bikers' healthy beef curry with naan, samosa, pakora and lime pickle.

Doing Sober October and love those Bavarian no-alcohol beers, so will probably have one or two of those as well. .

Lol I am definitely far from a healthy diet

Breakfast
A spoonful or 2 of baby porridge in an attempt to get DD to eat it. Occasionally the other half of her banana.
Half a cup of coffee (usually ends up cold)

Lunch - every few days I'll have half a can of baked beans or a can of tuna but usually at uni or rushing about. Every few days a coffee from costa/neros.

Dinner - extremely large portion of homemade veg chilli, spag bols, curry, pizza, carbonara etc usually with lots of veg if not entirely vegetarian.

Every saturday I'll have half a tub of Ben n jerrys for dessert. Partner will buy me chocolate once a week (usually reeses as I love peanut butter).

We get Chinese takeaway once a fortnight.
