Just tested myself to a bar of fruit and nut and it's about half the thickness, fine whatever you stingy bastards. But wtaf have you done to the taste?! It's greasy and has a bad flavour like a fatty sweet taste not a nice sweet taste.

Am I alone?! Yucky.

You're not alone. I think chocolate, in general, has gone downhill!

ChocolateOrIDie · 02/10/2018 20:10

I legit cannot tell the difference and still love it just the same...

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 02/10/2018 20:11

Haha sorry just seen I autocorrected treated to tested 😂

Anyway yeah is it Americanisation or the sugar tax or what? Either way I don't bloody like it. Going to have to start stockpiling Belgian chocolate lol

They’ve ruined the lot apart from Twirls, and I reckon that’s just a matter of time.

OftenHangry · 02/10/2018 20:12

I stopped buying Cadbury diary milk about 2 or 3 years ago...
Bloody MondelezAngry

Thebeautifullisette · 02/10/2018 20:13

Not sure about Dairy Milk specifically but I tried some chocolate that was rank and it turned out to be full of palm oil. They might as well have used wax, it was inedible.

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 02/10/2018 20:14

I've seen people mention it before now but dairy milk was still ok until now - maybe I was still buying the old stuff.

OftenHangry · 02/10/2018 20:18

They changed it massively over the years. It's full of fat and oils now. You can actually taste it.
Mondelez has a form for ruining products from companies they buy.

happyasasandboy · 02/10/2018 20:19

I think it is all Cadbury chocolate except Twirls and Wispas. I wonder if there's something about the texture of those that means they can't replace the milk with palm oil Confused

papayya · 02/10/2018 20:19

I thought the same! So disappointing! Galaxy is still lovely though 😄

Hidillyho · 02/10/2018 20:20

Bloody palm oil. It ruined my Cadbury life. I now prefer galaxy and I never thought that would be the case 😩

missyB1 · 02/10/2018 20:22

Can’t eat dairy milk now, and I used to love it! I literally just eat Toblerones these days!

PlinkPlink · 02/10/2018 20:24

Ugh... no you are not the only one! I am selective enough with my chocolate but they really have ruined it.

Caramels are my favourite and it's just not the same. And I make worse for myself... I always buy one hoping it'll taste right... And it never fucking does!!

Drummingisfun · 02/10/2018 20:24

Try lindt roasted hazelnut. It is soooooo much better. I never went back to fruut and nut once I tasted that.

bridgetreilly · 02/10/2018 20:24

Ruined it.

MeAgainSparkle · 02/10/2018 20:28

Get some Aldi chocolate Mosser Roth is amazing

MaryBoBary · 02/10/2018 20:30

I used to be a dairy milk addict but it’s definitely not the same anymore. I’ve moved on to galaxy as my go to instead. Sad times Cadbury, Dad times.

Tobebythesea · 02/10/2018 20:31

It is ruined unfortunately. I haven’t purchased Dairy Milk now for 2/3 years. Horrible stuff. Even Creme Eggs - used to be my favourite. Angry

Munchyseeds · 02/10/2018 20:32

You can still buy the lovely old recipe....if you live in/go to Canada

goldenoldiemum · 02/10/2018 20:32

Over many years many small British chocolate companies have been taken over by big American or European companies such as Kraft and Nestle and they have reduced the quality of the chocolate presumably to make greater profits. I am b..... minded and stop buying from them. Currently I am enjoying supermarket own brand chocolate bars. I recommend trying them.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/10/2018 20:35

It's awful stuff. I agree though that Twirls seem to have escaped and still taste like they used to.

I'm not a big milk chocolate person - I prefer an 85% cocoa dark chocolate that I never have to share because everyone else hates it Grin but I do occasionally buy it for kids parties/making DC ice cream.

I agree - Cadbury's chocolate now just tastes weirdly greasy and really unpleasant.

GerdaLovesLili · 02/10/2018 20:35

nasty, gritty palm oil.

flirtygirl · 02/10/2018 20:40

Yep I'm a chocoholic that no longer eats Cadbury's. It's pure crap.

Lidls is excellent.

DropZoneOne · 02/10/2018 20:42

I've stopped buying Cadbury from about a year ago. Aldi chocolate is good - even the dairyfine has a decent melt in the mouth texture.

catsmother · 02/10/2018 20:44

Dairy Milk's been dreadful for years. The giant chocolate buttons used to be okay, with the 'old' taste and texture though I've not had any for a while so don't know if they still are. But interesting about Twirls ... I may try those but I do resent increasing Mondelez' profits given they've ruined so much Cadbury chocolate.

Ritter chocolate is really flavoursome.
