Just tested myself to a bar of fruit and nut and it's about half the thickness, fine whatever you stingy bastards. But wtaf have you done to the taste?! It's greasy and has a bad flavour like a fatty sweet taste not a nice sweet taste.

Am I alone?! Yucky.

Green and Blacks or Bendicks Bitter Mints every time. At a pinch, the German Ritter Sport they used to do an amazing Mocha and still do a fantastic peppermint. Cadburys is second only to Galaxy on the slime scale

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 03/10/2018 08:09

I buy Cadbury if the address on the back is Dublin and it says made under licence from the UK. My sister and I bought some Dublin Cadbury Dairy Milk last year and almost cried when it melted properly in our mouths!

bowdownbeforelokitty · 03/10/2018 08:37

Don't even get me started on the way Terry' Chocolate Orange has been desecrated. One by one, and year by year every single chocolate Christmas memory is being eroded by takeovers, palm oil and a taste so waxy, chalky and lacking in resemblance to taste of my childhood that I just don't buy chocolate in bars or boxes in my day to day life.

bowdownbeforelokitty · 03/10/2018 08:43

R.I.P Terry's Chocolate Orange
1932-2012

longwayoff · 03/10/2018 08:58

Have to say I thought it was just me and that my taste had changed. Thats it then? All our beloved chocolate ruined and adulterated. Damn it.

Bumble1830 · 03/10/2018 09:05

Switch to Galaxy, so much nicer x

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 03/10/2018 09:06

All I can say is: YANBU.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

SingaSong12 · 03/10/2018 09:11

YANBU
I think Fredo bars are ok and Twirl, otherwise I just don't bother with Cadburys.

Fraula · 03/10/2018 09:17

A national treasure has been desecrated!

Aldi chocolate is so much better now.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 03/10/2018 10:52

All those people saying they'll just eat Galaxy - it's packed with shitty palm oil too.

Wtaf have they done to dairy milk?!
PawneeParksDept · 03/10/2018 11:17

I can vouch that :

Galaxy
Freddo
And Green and Blacks are RUINED

People who are saying otherwise haven't had them in a while

longwayoff · 03/10/2018 12:31

RIP Terry's chocolate orange. Perfection thrown away.

flamingofridays · 03/10/2018 12:35

palm oil! I prefer galaxy now, but that has started tasting waxy of late so maybe they have put it in that too!

flamingofridays · 03/10/2018 12:36

what gets me is a lot of people must have stopped buying it because its not as nice, have they not noticed that?

Elphame · 03/10/2018 12:43

I've pretty much given up - Milka was OK but I see it's owned by Mondelez so I expected it's on limited time if it hasn't been ruined already.

Chocolate sales must be through the floor given the comments on this thread

MoltenLasagne · 03/10/2018 12:47

I got some Godiva chocolate for my birthday a few weeks ago and it was like I remember Cadbury's tasting as a child. Sadly a bit too expensive for a regular treat.

NotAQueef · 03/10/2018 12:54

@liadan Purple snacks are amazing - used to have them all the time as a child before moving to UK. Wish they were sold here

EK36 · 03/10/2018 12:57

Dairy milk used to be my favourite chocolate. It's not nice anymore. Now I buy lindt.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 03/10/2018 13:57

Has anyone tried the Aldi equivalent of Roses etc? I won't touch the latter anymore as they're so disgusting. I considered buying the Aldi version as I love Moser Roth and the chunky 200g (?) bars with nuts but they looked a bit cheap and nasty. I'm willing to try again this year!

BillywigSting · 03/10/2018 14:06

Irish dairy milk is a totally different beast and far far superior.

English dairy milk has definitely been ruined. I'm very lucky though, there is an Irish foods section in my local supermarket that stocks Irish dairy milk made in Coolock in Dublin. It also sells cheese and onion tayto crisps, Barry's tea and red lemonade but that's a totally different thread!

Rumboogie · 03/10/2018 14:11

Glad you posted this. I had a bar of fruit and nut the other day for the first time in several years and couldn't understand what had happened. It was terrible! Also, didn't it used to have roasted hazlenuts and now it has almonds?

Why Why Why does the Government allow foreign mega companies to take over everything in the UK? I know this happened before T May pledged that no further foreign takeovers would happen, but the govt seems to have gone very quiet on this.

BuntyII · 03/10/2018 14:17

I urge you all try Lily O'Briens. Delicious and totally underrated chocolate.

LimboLuna · 03/10/2018 14:23

@BillywigSting my sainsbury's has started stocking Red lemonade, my children had it for the first time last week and LOVED it.

AlphaBravo · 03/10/2018 14:24

Try a double decker... I nearly cried and took it back to the shop. It's all shite. Cadburys is rotten now... packed with Palm Oil instead of cocoabutter. GRIM. I wont buy it anymore.

Excited101 · 03/10/2018 14:54

What is red lemonade?!

I haven’t bought a creme egg for years now, love the Lindor ones. Still love a Cadbury’s bar so long as there’s not much chocolate involved... like a crunchie! Sad to hear about G&B, their little fruit balls are divine though!
