Just tested myself to a bar of fruit and nut and it's about half the thickness, fine whatever you stingy bastards. But wtaf have you done to the taste?! It's greasy and has a bad flavour like a fatty sweet taste not a nice sweet taste.

Am I alone?! Yucky.

Fucking palm oil is ruining EVERYTHING.

user1andonly · 02/10/2018 20:52

Freddos are still edible (At least I think so - not had one for a while)

Dairy milk is just rank now. I wouldn't even eat it if there was a massive bar in the house and nothing else!

Wannabeyorkshirelass · 02/10/2018 20:57

Twirls and giant buttons are still the old taste, but the bars are absolutely foul. I am gutted as it's one of the few chocolates I like. Down to galaxy now, and the smooth 'melted plastic' texture of it is offputting.

DwangelaForever · 02/10/2018 20:57

This is why I'm glad to live in Northern Ireland, we get Irish dairy milk bars as well as UKs in our shops here and their tiffin, mint crisp and golden crisp are still as amazing as ever Grin

Unobtainable · 02/10/2018 20:57

Yes, theyve replaced the milk and sugar with oil and sweeteners. Its horrible and doesnt melt in the moth now and just gets sticky instead of disolving into lovely, powdery melted chocolate.

Such a shame.

DwangelaForever · 02/10/2018 20:58

@Wannabeyorkshirelass cause they're made in their Irish factory I believe

harriethoyle · 02/10/2018 20:59

The Lidl wholenut equivalent is UH-MAY-ZING

pitapizzapie · 02/10/2018 21:00

Irish dairy milk was ok more recently. I think twirls are made in Ireland still, which may explain why they're ok, too.

emma2939 · 02/10/2018 21:02

I'm glad you posted this..... I had some dairy milks out of a heroes tub not long ago and spat them out they tasted disguisting!! I actually checked the tub date cos I could have sworn they tasted off! Now I know why I won't be buying again I ended up binning the lot Sad

pitapizzapie · 02/10/2018 21:03

Sorry, cross posted with everyone else.

Ireland has good Cadbury's still.

Liadan · 02/10/2018 21:08

I'm Irish and the misfortune of tasting a yellow snack bar. There's now 4 biscuits as opposed to six and the chocolate is sickly sweet. Weirdly, the purple snack is as good as ever.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 02/10/2018 21:11

The tubs (grr at the absence of tins) of Christmas chocolates (Heroes, Roses etc) are a major letdown. I refuse to buy them any more. Does anyone have a failsafe alternative? I looked at Waitrose/M&S own brand alternatives last December but the reviews were equally poor.

I buy most choc from Aldi now, maybe I should check out their Christmas selection tub.

MipMipMip · 02/10/2018 21:11

I had the back end of a whole nut and opened a fruit and nut so I could do a direct taste test. The new ones are awful. 😢

Try Ritter Sport(!?) it is very yummy.

WeLoveFlowers · 02/10/2018 21:13

Cadburys is ruined now. I like Willie’s caocao. Proper chocolate there!

OhFlipMama · 02/10/2018 21:15

Aldi chocolate is very nice, nicer than dairy milk. Not their cheapest one, I can't remember the name of it now.

I still love Wispas, Freddo's seem nasty to me though.

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 21:17

Chocolate is disgusting at the moment.I genuinely dislike it all.

brokenharbour · 02/10/2018 21:42

There was another thread about this recently and loads of people said they didn't buy it anymore. It is disgusting now. Makes me wonder if there's been a hit to their sales.

StrawberrySquash · 02/10/2018 21:43

I had a Cadbury's Snack biscuit (yellow packet) recently and it was actively unpleasant. I only finished it because I was very hungry.
I've taken to buying other brands. M&S is pretty good, I find. Godiva too. No idea why they've decided to devalue the brand by appearing in all the supermarkets, but it tastes good.

PerverseConverse · 02/10/2018 21:47

OP where were you for this thread:

What the fuck have they done to chocolate? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3339012-What-the-fuck-have-they-done-to-chocolate

You'll find lots of good chocolate reviews in there.

I have a weird sense of deja vu......

maddiemookins16mum · 02/10/2018 21:49

Are Badburys still pretending that there’s a glass and a half of milk in every bar? I beg to differ.

PawneeParksDept · 02/10/2018 21:51

There have been lots of threads about how awful Cadbury's is now, they flatly deny changing anything and they so obviously have.

Their Big Taste Toffee Whole Nut is old style taste but it's the only one

You have to go to other brands, people on here recommend Moser Roth but my Aldi is hard to get to.

Waitrose own brand also good

They have also changed Green and Blacks the White Chocolate one is nothing like it was Sad

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/10/2018 21:55

Glass and a half of the cheapest palm oil they could lay their hands on?

Awful stuff now.

NoHufflefucksGivenMugglefucker · 02/10/2018 21:56

So many chocolates are ruined now. Terrys chocolate orange is waxy and yuck too 🤬

NoHufflefucksGivenMugglefucker · 02/10/2018 21:57

Do like milka actually. Haven’t had in ages. Still good?

longwayoff · 02/10/2018 21:59

Chocolates definitely gone downhill however, found a sugar free bar in aldi that was reasonable.
