Just tested myself to a bar of fruit and nut and it's about half the thickness, fine whatever you stingy bastards. But wtaf have you done to the taste?! It's greasy and has a bad flavour like a fatty sweet taste not a nice sweet taste.

Am I alone?! Yucky.

I bought a box of Roses the other day and chucked them away. They were HORRIBLE. I absolutely love chocolate but they were inedible.

AlphaBravo · 03/10/2018 15:39

Hotel Chocolat is where it's at. Until they ruin that too.

I've noticed Thorntons Vienese Truffles have gone down the pan too. They were my favourite ever chocolate 😭

seventhgonickname · 03/10/2018 16:00

Galaxy is not as nice either.
Green and blacks_what have they done to that?I don't eat a lot of chocolate but enjoy green and blacks at Christmas.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 03/10/2018 16:03

We occasionally get a box of Hotel Chocolat - the Christmas collections can look really pretty and quite nice to hand round to guests.

A tiny chocolate shop nearby runs courses on making it. Maybe I should do it and make my own Grin

BillywigSting · 03/10/2018 16:44

Red lemonade is exactly what it sounds like!

It's the colour of cherryade but it's lemonade and it's bloody lovely Grin

CiderBrains · 03/10/2018 16:49

I had a wispa gold bar last week, my childhood favourite. It was bloody disgusting and made me feel sad to think I will never taste the loviness that was Cadbury's!

Surely if sales drop that much they will have to do something? I'd pay more if it tasted like it used to!

bellabasset · 03/10/2018 17:04

Oh red lemonade, my uncle loved that. I loved Tizer as a kid. Bought a Ritter sport today and it is 50% cocoa and 40% peppermint. Difficult to read the white writing on green but yes can see the dreaded palm in brackets after vegetable oil.

Back to Lobbs then or Cornish Food Hall

BrokenWing · 03/10/2018 17:23

Someone who was leaving a work early last week brought in tubs of heroes and roses did everyone to share to say bye. They were usually eaten within 2 days. Over a week later they are all still more than half full.

AlexaAmbidextra · 03/10/2018 19:33

Palm oil is to blame. I stick with Lindt now.

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 03/10/2018 19:40

When I stole my DC’s Easter chocolate (it’s ok, he’s only 1!), I was shocked at how much nicer Lindt was than Cadbury.

The nicest I’ve had in recent years is some Whittaker’s that a colleague brought over from NZ. Amazing stuff - I treat myself online occasionally even though the U.K. prices are daft.

Katedotness1963 · 03/10/2018 20:05

Glad I'm not the only one complaining because it's shite, and smallerGrin

Stopped buying Cadbury. We get Godiva a few times a year for a treat, otherwise we have Milka, the caramel is very good, or Lindt truffles.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 03/10/2018 20:10

Been at the 30p Lidl bars tonight.... lovely

Kemer2018 · 03/10/2018 20:16

Aldi do a lovely big bar foil in a box, thick creamy chocolate with soft gooey caramel inside each chunk. Best around imho.

glivupa · 03/10/2018 20:24

I've converted to Lindt chocolate now to satisfy any choccy cravings

BlueJava · 03/10/2018 20:28

I hate it too now! And that for me is totally amazing. I have swapped to Hotel Chocolat for posh decadent times, and Green & Black (pale blue wrapping) for other times.

StrawberrySquash · 03/10/2018 21:52

I bought the new praline chunks of G&B and they were very waxy. Not had any normal G&B for a while.

MipMipMip · 03/10/2018 22:18

I've just checked a couple of bars of Ritter Sport and no oil, vegetable or palm, is listed. I got them from Lidl so maybe they were old stock?

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 03/10/2018 23:20

Local to me, and yes, they do use the wanky 'artisan' word, but their chocolate is fucking amazing: www.gnawchocolate.co.uk/

I don't eat huge amounts of chocolate, but whenever I've seen a Cadbury's bar lately it looks oddly sweaty. And a bit plastic.

PurpleArmy · 03/10/2018 23:40

Cadbury has gone cheap and nasty with palm oil and the ridiculous sugary gimmicky flavours. Fecking cocks.

The greedy Cadbury Board. You had something so loved, so quintessentially British and you sold us out to make a quick buck.

Shame on you.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 03/10/2018 23:56

Ritter don't put palm oil in their chocolate but might do in some of the fillings.

MipMipMip · 04/10/2018 00:03

That makes sense. Thanks Piper.

SingingSands · 04/10/2018 00:16

Haven't bought Cadbury chocolate in years because it tastes so rank.

My treat used to be a Caramel Bar, eaten on the bus home on a Friday after work.

Why do we let these huge companies ruin our heritage products like this? And don't start me on Palm oil. It is a disgrace, it causes huge environmental destruction - I don't believe the "sustainably sourced" crap.

I'm so riled up now I need chocolate to calm down!!

BigChocFrenzy · 04/10/2018 00:21

Lindt is still yummy - made with cocoa, cocoa butter & sugar, no palm oil or weird US sweeteners

Boycott the foul palm oil crap - it's no longer chocolate - and maybe they'll return to the old recipe.

LimboLuna · 04/10/2018 07:48

Have cadburys started paying their taxes yet?

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 04/10/2018 17:18

I was talking to my dh about this last night as I was surprised at the number of people agreeing and saying that they no longer buy it. But my dh seems to think may as well give up and accept it as there's no way the big conglomerate are going to notice or care - what do you guys think?
