Boots

OP posts:
ButchyRestingFace · 21/09/2018 14:00

They're £170. Conversation over.

I wouldn't get me boots at that price.

caroloro · 21/09/2018 14:06

I think YABU to not allow her to wear them....but I also think you're insane (or very very wealthy) to ave purchased them for her in the first place!

If you don't like them, why di dyou buy them?

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:08

I’m torn OP, I agree about damage to her feet/ankles. But I also think that making something forbidden makes it more attractive, so I’d maybe try and compromise.

Wearing now and again, with jeans rather than a short skirt (not assuming that’s what she wanted btw) to limit the damage.

Cottoning on to your username they look like something Buffy would have worn!

MarcieBluebell · 21/09/2018 14:10

Far too old for her. Agree about the price too. Ridiculous.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:11

Haud the bus. £170 for boots? Whaaaaaaaat?

Canshopwillshop · 21/09/2018 14:14

@losingthewill1 - don’t you think shoes can be sexy then??
@caroloro - read the thread - the OP didn’t buy them!

Noodge · 21/09/2018 14:15

I think they're too old, for me! And I'm 40-theyre awful!

MorningsEleven · 21/09/2018 14:27

That is one ugly pair of boots - they have a Pitsea Market knock-off look to them.

Bluntness100 · 21/09/2018 14:42

They have a three inch heel not four. And i quite like them and think they would look ok with skinnies. I wouldn't rush out and buy them though. They aren't stripper boots or slutty or sone of the other bizzare things being said on here though.😱

Would I let my 12 year old wear them? Well I'd be annoyed at her father for buying them, but I'd not make a war of it or make it forbidden, so I'd probably say for rare special occasions only.

I'd also suggest selling them on eBay and letting her spend the money on what she wanted but would get use out of. I suspect she'd go for that option.

bloody journalist vultures on this site haha

Noodge · 21/09/2018 16:36

14 inch heel height! Grin . I used to want to be a journalist but I thought i was too thick!

ZanyMobster · 21/09/2018 17:01

I would have worn something similar at 12 but with a smaller chunkier heels. They are hardly stripper-like but just not suitable for a 12 year old.

What did your DD say when you said they weren't suitable?

Lotsoflaughs · 21/09/2018 17:04

£170 for boots is quite a lot
I would think twice about that and I have a solid income

Gabilan · 21/09/2018 20:35

Why are people sexualising shoes?

Do you think high heels are for comfort and practicality?

museumum · 21/09/2018 20:39

3” heel - no way!
Her feet and legs and ankles are still developing and growing, heels that high will be so bad for shortening her Achilles and calf.

lilseb · 21/09/2018 20:47

Think I would take objection to the price tag (£170!) but if the objection is to how they look, I don't think they're particularly sexualised or look too old for her.

If you're worried about her not being able to walk in them, maybe go to a shop with her and practice - they actually look like good 'first heels' because of the solid sole, they might be quite comfy and walkable compared to normal heels. It's not a stiletto boot heel either which again would be very difficult to walk in.

Personally I wouldn't object.

SleepFreeZone · 21/09/2018 20:54

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of shoes worth that much money!! For that reason alone I would say no.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 22/09/2018 10:31

I had super strict parents and even my dad got me a pair similar to these ( except they were black patent) at a similar age. Me too. I wasn't allowed to wear 'heels' until I was 15.

Thinking about DD (who is tallish, super slim with no sign of a curve yet), she'd just look like even more of a beanpole with the extra height of 3" heels (she's already got longer legs than many grown-up family members).

And this is an era when you rarely see any teenage girls (unless they're out on the town) in heels, so what's the attraction? I don't think it will make her look more grown-up but just slightly old-fashioned...

gamerwidow · 22/09/2018 12:41

Wow those comments in The Sun article Shock. What a bunch of pigs!

Broken11Girl · 22/09/2018 12:54

I was envisaging far worse Grin but no, I wouldn't. Heels a bit too high, they look like they'd come up high on the calf unless she's tall for 12. I wouldn't pay that anyway as she's still growing.
New Look 915, Primark etc will do similar but teen sized with lower heels for £20 ime.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 23/09/2018 11:35

Too grown up and slutty looking. Gives off wrong message.

Karting1967 · 23/09/2018 19:31

What message would that be then?
