Boots

I would pull the parent card and just say you don’t find them appropriate and that’s that.

I agree with this, I bought high heels at that age and my dad made me return them. I was furious at the time but now I’m a mum I understand. Her feel will still be developing and she’ll have the rest of her life to look like a grown up.

Canshopwillshop · 20/09/2018 19:16

YANBU - I wouldn’t let my 13 year old DD wear them. Far too grown up!

InertPotato · 20/09/2018 19:16

Oh gosh. No. Not in a million years. They look like streetwalker boots.

Rhondacross · 20/09/2018 19:16

Laughing at the "why not?" posts. Grin

LagunaBubbles · 20/09/2018 19:17

Who would spend £170 on something without checking it was suitable first? Insane. Confused

JossWhedonIsAGenius · 20/09/2018 19:17

ErrolTheDragon

I tried to call the person who purchased them but my calls were all declined. Presumably because the person in question knew just as well as DD what my reaction would be and why I was calling.

So I ended up texting my concerns.

It didn't go well.

Too high for a 12 year old. Her bones are still growing and hardening and shouldn’t really be in heels

This ^ plus unsuitable for a child. Glad you've sorted it OP.

OnASwissRoll · 20/09/2018 19:18

i dont think theyre suitabke for 12 year olds. The heel is far too high and the overall look is too grown up. Maybe at 15, but not 12

LagunaBubbles · 20/09/2018 19:19

I'm guessing this is your ex her Dad then?

Dandybelle · 20/09/2018 19:19

I love them. But for me, not for a 12 year old.

Deadringer · 20/09/2018 19:19

Put them away until she is 16. then burn them

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/09/2018 19:20

YANBU. Too high for a 12 year old, and too expensive, given that she'll very soon grow out of them.

RoboticSealpup · 20/09/2018 19:20

Yanbu. Children shouldn't be walking around in the ridiculous torture implements we have normalised as "high heels". I wouldn't wear those, they look really uncomfortable.

NTitled · 20/09/2018 19:20

Ridiculous price aside (though you've said someone else has already bought them), and that fact that they're gross aside: I'd say just go with it. She may or may not lose interest if you are apparently not bothered (I'm guessing she will lose interest, because anything with heels is a bugger to wear), but either way, your DD is really, really unlikely to become a stripper because of some silly boots. Mine are now older teens, and there are some things that are absolutely not negotiable. Inappropriate boots aren't among them.

PorkFlute · 20/09/2018 19:20

I’d allow them for occasional wear if you are happy to pay that much!
I was expecting a pair of patent thigh boots from some of the comments 😂

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 20/09/2018 19:20

YANBU at all. So bad for growing muscles and bones. And way too grown up looking! 12!

JossWhedonIsAGenius · 20/09/2018 19:20

LagunaBubbles

Yes.

Laughing at the "why not?" posts.

As if it requires explanation.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 20/09/2018 19:21

And the cost, OMG!

VillageCats · 20/09/2018 19:21

Nope. Inappropriate both physically for her feet and socially. Nope.

TulipsInBloom1 · 20/09/2018 19:22

Op in that case they can live at her dads then.

Grandadwasthatyou · 20/09/2018 19:23

Wouldn't let my dd wear them and if I saw a 12 year old wearing them I'm afraid I would judge.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 20/09/2018 19:24

And to the poster who said they weren’t sexualised - erm, the whole point of high heels?

InertPotato · 20/09/2018 19:25

Oh my god does her father usually have such terrible judgement when it comes to buying clothes?

SirVixofVixHall · 20/09/2018 19:25

High heels on a twelve year old ? YADNBU . I was at school with a girl who wore boots with heels, not as high as those, but high, and she had terrible foot problems as a result because they damaged her grow8ng feet. That’s before you get into the twelve year old child dressed as an adult woman thing which I think is horrible.
