Boots

I am considering that. I suspect if I keep them/get rid of them he'll just buy her another pair and she'll wear them 'in secret'.

But I also think that misses the point. Regardless of how inappropriate I think they are, wearing them is potentially damaging to her body.

Or am I overreacting? Will wearing them for a few hours every other weekend not be too damaging?

Shocked at the ‘tarty’ comments tbh. They are the exact kind of boots I used to wear at that age with thick tights, a kilt and roll neck sweater! Knee boots were a tween staple in the 90s. And I don’t think that’s a particularly high heel if they’re not being worn for long.
I’m assuming it’s her dad that’s bought them? If so is it worth rocking the boat over?

defineme · 20/09/2018 19:27

I let dd get a £20 pair of ankle boots from new look with a smaller blocker heel than that for her 13th birthday. She has been allowed to wear them for meals out, disco etc. She has actually decided trainers are better now anyway.

concretesieve · 20/09/2018 19:27

Completely agree about heel height. Other than that - for this garden-nut - they're Vita Sackville-West's gardening boots Grin

Katjolo · 20/09/2018 19:28

Not appropriate for a child

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 20/09/2018 19:28

Aw piss. Totally agree with you op. Tell her she has to keep them at his? Can’t decide if that’s better or worse now I’ve typed it.

Sell them?

BlankTimes · 20/09/2018 19:28

Get her to bring them to yours, put them in the kitchen when you're cooking. "Accidentally" spill hot oil or curry sauce or anything that will ruin them beyond redemption.

Say sorry and replace with a pair that are much more suitable for her.

Exactly. Sad

YANBU. They'll shorten her calf muscles. She's still growing.

Lethaldrizzle · 20/09/2018 19:28

Also be good to try and persuade your dd to practice some self restraint in terms of costs etc. Even if I wanted to buy my dd a pair of boots worth £170 (which I wouldn't in a million years) - there is no way she'd say yes cos she'd think it was extortionate.

Lynne1Cat · 20/09/2018 19:29

Too expensive and too high for a 12 year old

Yabbers · 20/09/2018 19:29

Nice boots, not sexual in any way. But far too high a heel for growing feet.

Feefeetrixabelle · 20/09/2018 19:29

A few hours every other weekend would be fine ankle wise so they can live at dads.

. She’s 12 she’s got years of high heels ahead of her when her feet have finished growing and forming

BeigeExpo · 20/09/2018 19:29

You're even considering spending £170 on boots for a 12 year old??

And not from Clarks???

You're out of your mind. And they're way too high.

No.

Have you actually read any of my posts?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 20/09/2018 19:32

They're way too high for someone who is still growing.

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 20/09/2018 19:33

Also agree. Too grown up.

Didn't read the drip feed. Not enough time on my hands so just answered your original post OP.

Goodfood1 · 20/09/2018 19:35

no you ANBU they are not for a 12 year old

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/09/2018 19:36

At £170 far too much money for something her feet are going to grow out of.

I think they are quite nice but I think she is a bit too young to wear them.

They look very mumsy. I would think twice about wearing them as they look like office wear rather than fashionable

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/09/2018 19:36

Laughing at Timberland boots being stripper boots. They are lush boots for an adult but no, not suitable for a 12 year old at all, they are too high.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 20/09/2018 19:38

No way, Jose. She'll fall over and break her ankle in those. Plenty of time for high heels in mid/late teens. And £170 on Timberland boots for a pre-teen (who will probably grow tired of them long before they wear out) is outrageous.

nellieellie · 20/09/2018 19:38

No. Too high.

annielouisa · 20/09/2018 19:39

Are they just being kept and the other persons, I suspect ex DH? If they are how will you prevent her from wearing them?

Anyone stupid enough to spend that on a 12 year olds boots in Disney dad territory and as you say if you are able to confiscate them they will buy new ones and laugh behind your back every time she wears them.
