Boots

OP posts:

I've got a 12 year old DD and I wouldn't let her wear them. The heel is too high and they are too grown up for a 12 year old in my opinion.

JillyArmeeen · 20/09/2018 20:18

£170!!!
For a kid, your ex obviously has more money than sense.
I only spend that on my own boots that are a) way less ugly than those and b) I'm not going to outgrow by next winter.
Ridiculous..
Let her keep them at Disney daddy's.
She will only wear them about 10times before spring.
No harm done. Except to twat heads bank balance.

bourbonbiccy · 20/09/2018 20:21

What is your main concern, is it the heel or the length of the boot? I definitely wouldn't associate them with a stripper

Sallystyle · 20/09/2018 20:22

No way on earth would I let my almost 12 year old wear there.

Sallystyle · 20/09/2018 20:22

These*

speakout · 20/09/2018 20:26

Too high- unsafe , and bad for feet and spine.

bourbonbiccy · 20/09/2018 20:26

Sorry the other posts have only just loaded, OP I agree with you with regards to developing feet and think you have done exactly what's right, sorry again for 1st post it didn't load

CarolDanvers · 20/09/2018 20:28

Actually did a SIOB at those. Absolutely not!

LolaPickle · 20/09/2018 20:29

I would not let my 12 year old daughter wear them, no way. not under nany circumstanes

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/09/2018 20:29

When dd was 7 I took her to British home stores expecting then to have low heeled party shoes. I had promised heels. They had flats and horrendously high ones. I’m disabled and these were a sticker chart reward (saved up for weeks so this was the anticipated big spend). I didn’t have the energy to go elsewhere so I allowed her the high ones but just for parties.

Dd soon grew out of them and although she loved them she never asked for another pair - not that I would have bought any. I think occasional wear only is probably the best way forward as per your example of a few hours every other weekend. I know your dd is s lot older but perhaps the same still applies that something, which is forbidden is highly prized. This will prevent your ex from buying some more. Twit.

KnotsInMay · 20/09/2018 20:31

Absolutely not.

Put them on eBay.

Gabilan · 20/09/2018 20:32

Am I the only one who finds it odd that a father bought them for his 12 year old? At that age my dad would have wanted me to look younger than I was, not older. Presumably he's doing it to wind you up OP?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 20/09/2018 20:32

YANBU. They're minging.

Lifeismorethanamerrygoround · 20/09/2018 20:34

Those are far too high, get her the lower version with the flat heel, for more cool and better for her developing bones .

AhNowTed · 20/09/2018 20:34

No way, totally inappropriate

RaininSummer · 20/09/2018 20:35

Not at twelve. Too high, too dear, just too everything. At 16 fine.

1981fishgut · 20/09/2018 20:37

Your right op the it has a heel

Violetroselily · 20/09/2018 20:39

YANBU because they are hideous

Sethis · 20/09/2018 20:45

A simple (but possibly ethically grey) solution would be to offer to your DD to sell them on Ebay or Gumtree and directly give her the cash that you get for them. Given that they're £170 new, if worn once you should be able to get about £100, easy. Your DD gets that £100, maybe spread out into installments (does she have her own bank account yet?) so she can't blow it all at once.

That way she can choose between stripper boots (eyeroll) or a real chunk of cash to blow on things she really wants. If you don't want to hand over the cash direct, you can promise her to put that £100 towards anything she wants when she wants it. Maybe keep a record on a post-it on the fridge e.g. £5 spent on magazine, £10 spent on pizza etc etc, until the £100 has been reached. Gives her a nice lesson in budgeting and the value of money.

I'm aware some people might disagree with these suggestions, which is fair enough.

Theweasleytwins · 20/09/2018 20:45

Oooo i really like those😍

Although not at that price or for her age

Gabilan · 20/09/2018 20:47

Likewise, @Theweasleytwins. Timberland is now advertising nice boots on my page. But those ones are hellishly expensive and too high for a 12 year old.

irregularegular · 20/09/2018 20:53

Far too high. Terrible for feet, back etc.

Racecardriver · 20/09/2018 20:54

YANBU. Those shoes shouldn't exist.

CherryPavlova · 20/09/2018 20:57

They’re quite nice but not for a 12 year old.

DistanceCall · 20/09/2018 21:00

Noooooooo. The heel is too high for a 12-year-old.
