Petty I know but (Would) IBU to copy everyone into the reply?

I know this is quite a petty gripe but it's been eating away at me all evening so I've turned to the reasonable minds of MN.

I'm working on a project in which I have to complete a certain aspect before a colleague can complete her bit. The deadline is looming so about 3 weeks ago she e-mailed me asking me to send her my bit when I was done. I replied that same afternoon with my finished section saying if she wanted me to make any changes or had any comments to let me know soon as and it'd be my first priority.

I didn't hear anything back so all was well in the world. Earlier this afternoon I received an e-mail from her basically saying "Vlad, I asked you to send me xyz 3 weeks ago so I could complete abc as the deadline is nearing. Where is it? Can you send it ASAP." She'd copied in her manager, my manager and their managers too, along with a few others on the edges of the project.

She's not a malicious person so what I suspect happened is that her manager basically asked her where it was as he probably wanted to have a once-over before we declared it finished. So she must have panicked and just sent the e-mail to everyone.

Thing is, if she'd just e-mailed me or just came over to me to ask about it I would have happily said 'Here it is.... I sent it to you that day but you must have overlooked it.'

Now I feel like copying in all the people in the e-mail she sent with a PA reply. As I see it - even if I take the high road and just quietly e-mail her to the others it will look as though I dropped the ball and suddenly picked it back up again when brought to attention.

I've had quite a fairly long and extensive career so I'm not a stranger to these sorts of antics but for one or two reasons this has really irked me.

If you're still with me: WIBU to copy everyone else into the reply saying I sent this to you the same day you asked me about it (which incidentally was to schedule), or should I just send it to her alone in an e-mail and think no more of it?

I would forward the original, copying in the same people. But I'm pissed off with putting up with people's shit...

I would reply all.

She cc'd in your manager and a load of others. For clarity you need to make sure they know you did your bit.

I definitely don't think it would be petty to forward your original email,copying in the others, saying here it is, please see email below on xth September. Keep it breezy and not PA.

Christ no, hit reply all and do it! There's gaming the high road and there's just unnecessarily dropping yourself in it for something you didn't do! You can word the email nicely but don't let everyone think you messed up!

Reply to all with the email you sent attached. I hate this petty office bullshit. She threw the first punch by the email, rather than say picking up the phone.

Definitely cc the world. She’s covering her arse, you need to cover yours.

I'd reply to all. If she doesn't want her missing the email flagged up to everyone she should have had the manners to email you alone first.

It's quite rude to receive an email to a group in this sort of team working situation and not include the group in your reply

Of course you reply all and copy everyone in she did. Her fault for being a numpty. Otherwise, the other people copied in will be getting an unfair and incorrect impression of you.

I'm with everyone else. It may not have been a malicious act on her part, but you absolutely have to cover your back.

Hit reply all and attach your original email. That way you're not actively copying them all in to a new thread, but just carrying on her original thread.

definitely copy all. Of course you should, otherwise you look like you have not done your part. Which is what she was saying by copying ALL in the first place.

She's made you look unprofessional. It's not pa to correct that.

Of course you must cc everyone on it; there's no room for sentimentality in business. If you don't, everyone will assume that you are not doing a good job. You don't need to be PA, you just need to be factual. You can say something like "Hi colleague, I sent this to you on abc date, in response to your email." That's all you need to say.

First check you sent it and then reply to all and tell her.

Reply all stating date you sent her the info, also that you'll resend it (then do so).

I'd reply to all saying 'Not sure what you mean, info you asked for was sent on X date at X time. Here's a screenshot of the sent email'

Keep it polite but show you dud your job and she Fubar'd.
