Am I the only middle aged woman on MN with lines and wrinkles?

I don't mean to sound arsey (honestly!) but if you are over 45 and have no lines or wrinkles, this thread is not for you.

I'm always reading posts on here where people say they are, say, 50 and have no wrinkles or are regularly taken for 5, 10 or more years younger.

Am I the only one who does have lines and wrinkles? My facial lines are similar to say, Naomi Watts in this photo - but without the beauty.

I'll join you. I have a neck that looks like Naomi's. And deep crevices from nose to mouth which appear to be now passing my mouth and making their way to my jawline, creating jowls in the process. I look like I've melted if I look slight down into a mirror.

Itsmeaga1n · 10/09/2018 12:02

I'm 54 and have the lines at the side of my mouth making me look jowly too. Otherwise a bit around my eyes. But I don't use anything other than Body Shop hemp face cream due to very sensitive skin.

Undercoverbanana · 10/09/2018 12:03

I’m 50. I look real. I’ve got grey hair and I wear no make-up.

I am, however, athletic, so people think I’m younger because of my physique and the sorts of activities I get up to.

I have no shits to give for people’s opinions about my lack of maintenance. It’s just not my thing. I am proud to be 50 and be grey and wrinkly. Plenty of people don’t get the chance. I don’t want to deny the experiences I’ve had or the memories I hold by portraying myself as younger. I’m massively proud of my adult children and all they are achieving. I am bloody proud to be old enough to be their Mum.

Older women rock. Literally.

People online can say anything at all. Doesn’t mean it’s true.

Singlenotsingle · 10/09/2018 12:04

Has anyone tried that Juvederm that's being advertised a lot atm? I'm considering giving it a go ... Hmm

OrcinusOrca · 10/09/2018 12:04

I have wrinkles and I'm a way off 45! Forehead is the worst. I blame my DF's genes...moisturising does naff all for me.

SilverApples · 10/09/2018 12:05

No you aren’t the only one, but as my default face is cheerful, with a half smile, all my wrinkles are in the right places. I’m late 50s, cleanse and moisturise, but have neither the inclination or the money to try and pretend to be 40.

specialsubject · 10/09/2018 12:05

lines and wrinkles here commensurate with age. Have had a lot of.sun exposure, would be much worse without all the sunscreen.

why worry? better than never wrinkling due to dying young.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/09/2018 12:05

Judging by the “how old do you think I am” threads then people almost always look their age

I’m not middle aged yet but have some natural lines - laughter lines, start of crows feet etc. I don’t mind at all.

SilverApples · 10/09/2018 12:06

Or what Undercoverbanana said!

Merryoldgoat · 10/09/2018 12:07

I don’t have wrinkles and I’m 40. However, I have an ‘old’ face, I’m fat with crooked teeth and I’ve been going grey since I was 23.

I’d happily swap my shitty teeth for a few wrinkles.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/09/2018 12:07

I've had a line between my eyebrows for ten years and I'm your age. My advice? Be cheerful. I plan to be one of those apple faced, wrinkly old ladies who smiles all the time and it shows. Shame I'm not.

PorkFlute · 10/09/2018 12:11

I'm in my 30s and have smile lines and some light crows feet around my eyes. Doesn't stop me being asked for ID when I want to buy alcohol! I think looking young is more to do with how you dress and style your hair/wear your make up unless you're massively wrinkled.

Ivaidea · 10/09/2018 12:12

Thanks for replies. Got to nip out - back soon to discuss with my new found tribe!

Lines you say - I have furrows!
And I care not a jot!!

alittlequinnie · 10/09/2018 12:16

I'm almost 48 and my face is full of wrinkles.

I have had to give up wearing foundation because it collects in all the "laughter lines" around my eyes - which DON'T go away when I stop smiling.

I also have those two saggy bits either side of my mouth which are from the muscles under my cheeks sagging (I presume).

To top it all off I have those lines around my lips which were probably helped along (with all the other wrinkles) by 20 plus years of smoking.

I am totally grey (but dye it a light brown/blonde highlight combination) but I feel old and feel that I look old when I look in the mirror. It's horrible.

Having said all that I would happily age another 10 years overnight if I could get my 20 year old eyesight back!!

ErictheGuineaPig · 10/09/2018 12:16

I'm 42 and have wrinkles. The grey hair is coming thick and fast too and I'm going to embrace it after following the Grombre instagram account.

Doesn't bother me in all honesty. Going old is a privilige, I have zero inclination to spend a fortune on creams or botox or fillers or whatever.

Merryoldgoat · 10/09/2018 12:26

Grombre?

LeftRightCentre · 10/09/2018 12:29

Oh, they all say that! And they don't have a skincare routine (or Botox or fillers or work). They drink plenty of water, never ever drink of smoke. And everyone tells them they look much younger. No one's ever fat, either. Or have shitty hair.

It's a load of bollocks.

ErictheGuineaPig · 10/09/2018 12:31

It's basically just a load of women posting pictures of them looking good with grey hair! Nothing very earth shattering but it's a change from the idea of having to hide them with hair dye.

EvilEdna1 · 10/09/2018 12:32

I am 45 and jowley. Everyone I know my age or older looks about their age. Even the ones with Botox.

Clionba · 10/09/2018 12:34

It is bollocks.
Also, don't touch botox or juvederm or any such thing. Seriously.
The people that have it don't look younger, just filled in.
Youthful attitude is what keeps you young!

EBearhug · 10/09/2018 12:35

I'm 46. Life's been shit at times. I don't want to look all smooth-faced like I never experienced anything in life. I certainly have wrinkles, so my life does show in my face.

LeftRightCentre · 10/09/2018 12:35

I had a boyfriend who constantly banged on about how everyone told him he didn't look 39. They were right, he looked like the back end of a bus and was a twat inside and out.

MadamBatty · 10/09/2018 12:39

I am 50, I look 50. A fit healthy 50 but still 50.

I have a mate who is 48, she regularly says people think she is 28. They don’t
