Am I the only middle aged woman on MN with lines and wrinkles?

I don't mean to sound arsey (honestly!) but if you are over 45 and have no lines or wrinkles, this thread is not for you.

I'm always reading posts on here where people say they are, say, 50 and have no wrinkles or are regularly taken for 5, 10 or more years younger.

Am I the only one who does have lines and wrinkles? My facial lines are similar to say, Naomi Watts in this photo - but without the beauty.

Yes I agree. Mirren has a jawline a 50 year old would be proud of, let alone a 70 year old!

But still, having a firm jawline doesn't scream 'worked on' in the same way that filler face does. If you stop and think about it, then sure, there's no way it could be natural. But it's not as blatant as that hamster face so many celeb women over the age of 40 - and often younger - have. It makes me sad to see women destroy their faces like that. Are a few wrinkles really so awful?

It's very clever, very subtle work. Also very expensive!

CanterSlow · 11/09/2018 22:13

work or no work, YOU'RE GONNA GET OLD AND DIE DEAL WITH IT!!! Starting the embalming process early ain't gonna save you!

MakeItStopNeville · 12/09/2018 02:27

Mirren definitely looks as if she's had work done. All celebrities do, although it depends when they started as to how successful it works. Meg Ryan clearly started too young with a not so good ps as she looks terrible now. If she'd just left her face alone, she would have been so much better off!

I did genuinely look young in my 30's. People thought I was the nanny of my 4 as they were surprised I was old enough to have so many kids of that age. But having kids young aged me a million years by the time I hit 40! Grin

Also, I'd rather spend money on getting my teeth look young than my wrinkles. Old teeth age people more than wrinkles, I think.

Oh yes, I have one forehead line, above my right eyebrow. It's definitely from raising one eyebrow too often! Hmm My hair is cut to cover that and the frowny line between my eyes a bit. Grin

Every 80 year old has wrinkles. Don’t be silly.

My grandfather didn't really although that didn't mean he looked young. I think the lack of wrinkle were partly due to never going in the sun and partly because he was fat.

Was talking to my 70 odd year old neighbours recently and noticed how well they both look. They have the most beautiful skin and look younger than me, early 50's. They're farmers, so out in all weathers.

LanguidLobster · 12/09/2018 17:11

@Want2beme, I asked a lady directions today and she was the same, think she was in her sixties with really radiant skin.

I felt like a weather beaten prawn in comparison!

oohyoudevilyou · 12/09/2018 17:32

Wrinkled skin can be lovely: My nanna had beautiful soft skin - I loved her to rest her check against mine when I was little! Doesn't mean I particularly want wrinkles, but they do have a beauty of their own.

Liskee · 12/09/2018 17:36

I'm 41 and having shifted a bit of weight lately the lines and furrows that have been hiding under the bloat are making an appearance. Ah bollocks to it...I've decided I'll be wearing them with pride! And letting on they are the visual sign of the wisdom and gravitas of my years Wink

CleverTwig · 12/09/2018 17:45

wrinkles can be beautiful I agree! you can tell just by looking at someone sometimes - inner and outer beauty in alignment! its really nothing to do with looking youthful - i was observing some puffy young looking twerps today in PDSA waiting room! a dime a dozen!

Want2beme · 12/09/2018 17:54

Languid, they've got faces like lovely shiny, rosy apples. I've never looked anywhere near that good!

Want2beme · 13/09/2018 22:08

Watching No Offence. Joanna Scanlan looks really well. She's 5 years older than me but I look that much older than her.
