Am I the only middle aged woman on MN with lines and wrinkles?

I don't mean to sound arsey (honestly!) but if you are over 45 and have no lines or wrinkles, this thread is not for you.

I'm always reading posts on here where people say they are, say, 50 and have no wrinkles or are regularly taken for 5, 10 or more years younger.

Am I the only one who does have lines and wrinkles? My facial lines are similar to say, Naomi Watts in this photo - but without the beauty.

45, and honestly no wrinkles. I look fucking knackered though.

abacucat · 10/09/2018 13:05

I am so stunningly beautiful that strangers are awed into silence by my beauty.
Not really of course I have wrinkles. But don't believe everything anyone says online.

mydietstartsmonday · 10/09/2018 13:06

I have a good face not many lines or wrinkles but the body is shit!
Thank god for M&S big knickers and Bravissimo scaffolding for big nooks
You can't win them all...

tillytrotter1 · 10/09/2018 13:06

Feel like I've wandered into the nursery, I'm 70, I like to read the posts and wonder how on earth I managed without airing my every teeny concern!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 10/09/2018 13:06

I'm 40, and have pronounced lines on my forehead, and reasonably age-appropriate crows feet. Frustratingly, in a teenager/old lady combo, I also still have a fair few spots. No grey hairs yet though.

I have no plans to have Botox. For some reason botox is quite a thing locally, and you can always tell. I don't think those who have it look any better or worse, just "done".

bananafish81 · 10/09/2018 13:06

The skincare is a con threads always have hoards of posters boasting that they look 10 years younger and have fantastic skin without using anything more than a baby wipe and a dab of nivea

I've always used sunscreen, drunk water etc but a few really stressful years took their toll on my skin. I have no desire to look younger, but unlike all the posters who are lucky enough to be mistaken for someone much younger, I resented premature ageing in my mid 30s

Baby botox around my crows feet has been a game changer. People keep telling me how well I look, asking if I've changed my hair or similar. No one has said I look younger. My friend was most indignant when I revealed I'd had botox done as she had always maintained you could ALWAYS tell when someone had botox, and she hadn't twigged at all

I wish I could have embraced my wrinkles, but after lots of failed IVF, I felt that I wouldn't have minded looking knackered if I'd been up all night with a screaming baby - but that I resented being barren AND looking much older than my age!

PaulDacreRimsGeese · 10/09/2018 13:08

Never mind middle aged, I'm a millennial and I'm getting lines in my forehead!

Fairylea · 10/09/2018 13:09

Oh god I am 38 and have wrinkles - especially round my eyes. I am going through the menopause and have lots of health issues and despite wearing spf50 everyday and doing everything I can to help my skin (don’t drink or smoke blah blah!) I am still wrinkled. And I have grey hair and I can’t be bothered to dye it.

Oh well. Age is something that happens to us all, if we’re lucky!

Yikesisthatmeinthemirror · 10/09/2018 13:09

My eye wrinkles show when I smile, a bit like the example pic. They don't stay when I relax back to my natural RBF, but they will very soon. My jowls are starting to develop, my jawline is beginning to sag.

I'm nearly 47 and frankly, I'd be surprised if it were any different. My DM is beautiful, but wrinkled. She is 28 years older than me so I expect the next 28 years to be a gentle progression towards wrinkles of the same magnitude. Unfortunately my mum was always better looking than me, but that's another issue Grin

@Ivaidea

Don't be silly OP. Half the posters on here over 40 look 20 years younger than they are. The doctors, dentists, hairdressers, and everyone else they encounter assumes they are waaaaaaay younger than they are, and that their children are their siblings.

At 45-48 y.o, they regularly get asked for I.D. to buy alcohol, they are all a size 8, and they don't have a single line on their face or body, or a SINGLE grey hair!

Hope that makes you feel better. Grin

Ivaidea · 10/09/2018 13:12

Oh you lovely lot have made my feel better! See, I don't mind the way I look but I don't know many people - MN is my lifeline - so I'm not sure what is and what isn't "normal".

Fairylea · 10/09/2018 13:13

I also think if you’re over 40 people love to say how young you look, even if you don’t, because it’s a compliment. Or people think it is. A bit like saying someone’s hair is good, or asking if they’ve lost weight (which I would never do) etc. Half the time I don’t think people even mean it!

I know I look my age and I’m okay with that. I might have a trendy day where I make the effort and wear “younger” stuff but my face isn’t 21 anymore. Grin

badtime · 10/09/2018 13:15

I do know people who look a lot younger than they are, but they are rarely the people who are very concerned about how they look.

People who are very concerned tend to look, at best, 'good for their age'.

(My husband doesn't give a shit how he looks and in his early 40s he can pass for late 20s. Git.)

SerenDippitty · 10/09/2018 13:16

To top it all off I have those lines around my lips which were probably helped along (with all the other wrinkles) by 20 plus years of smoking.

I have thoseclines on my upper lip and I’ve never smoked. Sad. I am 57 though.

Shockers · 10/09/2018 13:17

You’re completely free to wander out again tilly Wink.

Meant to tag you the other day in the skin routine post, you had me in stitches with your comments Grin
I love the honesty on this thread.
Feeling positive about owning my face folds!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/09/2018 13:22

I have deeper wrinkles, fine lines and sun damage.

I look my age.

I use serums and moisturisers burbim sure it’s all 80% genetics and lifestyle, rather than topical applications.

oohyoudevilyou · 10/09/2018 13:23

I have wrinkles. In fact I noticed a new one this weekend and was not too pleased. My eyes are also getting a bit baggy but if I open them wide to try and hide it, I just look manic!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/09/2018 13:23

Droopy eyelids - I seem to have gained them overnight, the flicky bit of my eyeliner just disappears underneath it now Confused

Miladymilord · 10/09/2018 13:24

I am 52, I have wrinkles, lines, grey roots and sun damage. I think I'm attractive and youthful in outlook!

RyderWhiteSwan · 10/09/2018 13:24

As near as dammit 64, hair only slightly greying, greasy skin still, so not many wrinkles - but I have the smoker's lines. Everyone I disclose my age to is surprised, and yes think I'm 10 years younger. Nothing I've done, just inherited good genes!

RyderWhiteSwan · 10/09/2018 13:25

Oh yes - sun damage on chest Sad

Miladymilord · 10/09/2018 13:26

My chest is awful. I also have a hairy chin Grin

It's a miracle I have the confidence to go to lidl, never mind to parties

The80sweregreat · 10/09/2018 13:30

i'm 53 and embrace the lines. if your rich and famous I guess you have to spend loads on not looking older! must be painful though.

JaceLancs · 10/09/2018 13:31

I’m 54 and have minor forehead lines
I’m slightly overweight and that and oily skin seem to have stopped any others as yet
However I have double chin, and bingo wings, veins starting to show on backs of hands and feet
I’m told I look younger than I am, but I think that’s more down to hairstyle and how I dress than wrinkles
DM is nearly 80 and she’s not go many either
