Am I the only middle aged woman on MN with lines and wrinkles?

I don't mean to sound arsey (honestly!) but if you are over 45 and have no lines or wrinkles, this thread is not for you.

I'm always reading posts on here where people say they are, say, 50 and have no wrinkles or are regularly taken for 5, 10 or more years younger.

Am I the only one who does have lines and wrinkles? My facial lines are similar to say, Naomi Watts in this photo - but without the beauty.

True, MadamBatty. The people that look young aren't the ones with wrinkles and jowls (me too!) but the ones with a good sense of humour and an interest in life. There's nothing more aging than a moaning old git.

Clionba · 10/09/2018 12:42

without wrinkles and jowls, sorry

MrsStrowman · 10/09/2018 12:42

I'm getting lines around my eyes, and a deep one between my eyebrows I'm 34. Don't smoke, drink occasionally once or twice a month and not a huge amount, don't tan (too pale) moisturise, exfoliate etc, I just say it must be from too much laughing and that can't be a bad thing!

MadamBatty · 10/09/2018 12:43

Or Clionba somebody who endless bangs on about how young they look!

dogzdinner · 10/09/2018 12:43

I've also seen MNers talking about the botox and fillers that they get. No one I know in real life does that.

Wrinkles are normal and the sooner we (society/media etc.) accept that the better

ALittleBitofVitriol · 10/09/2018 12:44

I'm mid 30s and definitely getting some lines. I don't care.

Threewheeler1 · 10/09/2018 12:47

I'm 45 too.
By anti-ageing (and all other) standards, I look pretty rubbish.
I have more lines and wrinkles than a tortoise.
My face is caving in to my neck.
My hair is like road sweepings after a storm.
My skin is crepey, grey and tufty like a doormat.
And, just for your mental enjoyment, I look like the love child of John McCririck and Andrew Neil.
When I was younger I didn't give a second thought to ageing with regard to how I was going to look if I carried on enjoying myself. I just am what I am.
Still, you're only here once and I like to laugh a lot.
Maybe real faces will become acceptable again one day Grin

Clionba · 10/09/2018 12:48

MadamBatty GrinGrin true!!
There's an Instagrammer/fashion blogger that gets botox. It's aged her because it's just emphasised the fine lines around her eyes, contrasting with a forehead that's a shiny flat surface and rigid cheeks.

Bluelady · 10/09/2018 12:48

You've nailed it, Clionba. I'm quite sure I look my age but I don't feel or act it.

LeftRightCentre · 10/09/2018 12:48

Same here, Three, but I'm older!

YouBetterWORK · 10/09/2018 12:48

I'm 39 and although my skin is fine the wrinkles around my eyes show my age! Crows feet etc I'm fine with, but my eyelid skin is getting loose and wrinkly which is a bit of a bugger :(

Merryoldgoat · 10/09/2018 12:50

I saw a friend of a friend recently and did t recognise her - she looked completely different.

I mentioned to our mutual friend I didn’t recognise her and I embarrassed myself by nearly ignoring.

Apparently she’s been having Botox and fillers. She didn’t look younger, she just looked different and odd.

Clionba · 10/09/2018 12:50

Threewheeler1 that's made me laugh out loud!! GrinGrin! Bless you for that!
I like winter because I can hide my jowls and crepey neck behind scarves!!

Schroedingerscatagain · 10/09/2018 12:50

I’m 49, look 39 seriously not a wrinkle or laughter line

However I often feel like 79, have serious disabilities that no one can see and have destroyed my life for almost 20 years and may yet kill me

I would gladly take all the lines in the world to actually be as healthy as someone my age

There You go, see looks can be so deceptive which choice would you make?

MrsMarigold · 10/09/2018 12:51

I'm only 42 but grew up in the Tropics and spent every day for my first 24 years outdoors, I'm so wrinkly when I poke my eye bags they don't spring back the indentations just sort of stay for a minute or two.

user1494588420 · 10/09/2018 12:52

I'm 38 and most days look like a bag of shit tied up 😁

DH says smiling takes 10 years off me (I think it lifts my jowls), so I plan to be as cheerful as possible and bugger the laughter lines (of which I have a fine collection).

itbemay · 10/09/2018 12:54

42 here and I have forehead lines, a deep frown line and 'smokers' lines.... considering botox as I type!!

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 10/09/2018 12:55

I'm 50 and I don't have that many on my face but that's genetics, my mum didn't at my age either. My neck however is starting to look a little scraggly and I have a few grey hairs around my temples and the odd one on top.
Personally I'd rather it was a more gradual thing because I'm going to wake up one day and my face will probably havetaken a nose dive to my shoulders overnight Confused

BanananananaDaiquiri · 10/09/2018 12:56

I'm 48. I don't have much in the way of wrinkles and I don't think I look my age, based on how often and with such apparent sincerity people who learn my age refuse to believe me.

However, the reason I'm fairly wrinkle-free and look young is because I have a genetic condition that affects my collagen. I might have a smooth face but I spend half my time in agony from dislocations, and I'm looking at a future as a wheelchair user probably by the time I'm 50. So given the choice between being having smooth skin or being pain free and able to run, dance...hell, even walk up and downstairs, I'd take the latter every time and wrinkles be damned.

FarrahMoan · 10/09/2018 12:57

I'm 40 and don't have any/many wrinkles but I am overweight - DD is only 4 months but I hadn't lost the weight from 6yo DS Shock. I think the plumpness irons the wrinkles out
I do have lots and lots of grey hairs

ChinUpShouldersBack · 10/09/2018 12:58

Plenty of wrinkles here and I've earned every one.
They don't bother me.
The demolition job that gravity's doing to my face and tits however....
Still. Better than the alternative.

Orchiddingme · 10/09/2018 13:02

Ha, I've noticed this on MN as well OP it's the home of mysteriously unwrinkled 50 year olds who look in their twenties!

I have a couple of friends who don't look their age, nearly 50, but they definitely look 40. No-one looks really young once they are over 40 IMO, it's all a bit blurry between that and 60.

My pet hate about this age is my matronly bust. I don't even have a big chest size, it just settles across my slightly overweight torso and makes me look matronly in every photo. It's awful and I think much more ageing than a few wrinkles (I smile a lot and hope the movement distracts people). Any suggestions other than to lose a stone or two?

PickAChew · 10/09/2018 13:02

Late 40s. I could carry a couple of pencils between my eyebrows and my neck is starting to resemble granny pig's.
