to book in to a hotel on my own...

and leave my husband and kids at home alone? I’m desperate for time on my own. If I don’t get it I think I might crack. It would be a massive inconvenience for my husband and my kids wouldn’t want me to go. I want to be selfish just once but no one irl would understand. I mean for weekend though, not like week or anything extravagant.

🙁

TBH, this sounds like a dream come true. Go for it, OP!

Heismyopendoor · 07/09/2018 19:33

That sounds like heaven. Do you stay anywhere near Glasgow and we could get a twin room and half the money? I’m quiet and eat non smelly snacks and won’t use all the hot water? Deal?

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:34

I’m thinking I could sheep, eat chocolate, drink fizzy pop (I don’t drink alcohol)...it’s just a dream though isn’t it.

Merryoldgoat · 07/09/2018 19:34

Are you kidding? As soon as I have money I’ll do this!!

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:35

@Heismyopendoor

Sorry lol I’m in the middle of England a loooooong way from Scotland!

Daffodils07 · 07/09/2018 19:36

I'm going to be doing this soon, nice food,drink,bath then bed with a book without any men or children sounds like heaven.

DollyWilde · 07/09/2018 19:37

I don’t have kids but when I was living at home a few years back I’d keep an eye for cheap Premier Inn deals. £29, book it, get a takeaway delivered, have a bath, watch movies, sink some wine. If im honest I can’t think of a more rewarding way to spend £29!

Soberfutures · 07/09/2018 19:37

I did this 2 weeks ago. Booked 3 nights abroad. I really needed to have time to breathe and get my own head together.

I would recommend it to anyone. I missed them all like crazy but I had got to the point I want being a good mum or wife as I was too stressed

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 07/09/2018 19:38

I dream about doing this all the time! The quiet, the sleep, the doing what ever I want uninterrupted by cries of 'Maaaaaaaammmmm' every 5 seconds.

Do it for us all OP!!!

Heismyopendoor · 07/09/2018 19:39

Ahh that’s a shame :( possibly just as well as I actually really like sour cream and onion Pringles 😂😂

But seriously you can get a premier inn pretty cheap, we often book them for less
Than £40 a night, sometimes even cheaper.

Honey2018 · 07/09/2018 19:40

Please do this!

I want to and I’m only 9 weeks into being a Mum! You’ve given me a nice idea Smile Spa hotel would be even better.

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:40

@Soberfutures

All joking aside, this is exactly how I feel.

OP posts:
Hooli · 07/09/2018 19:41

Why would it inconvenience your husband?

How old are your kids?

Can you afford it?

Me and DH do this at least once a year. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I miss them, of course I do, but fuck me do I enjoy it.

LittleBirdBlues · 07/09/2018 19:41

If finances are tight, you could also wait until a friend who lives in a nice location goes on holiday, and you can stay in their house for a couple of nights.

How old are your kids? Unless one of them is a young baby yanbu.

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:41

@Honey2018

Can’t do a spa, that involves seeing people and I could literally do with 2 days with no communication from the outside world.

OP posts:
ChanklyBore · 07/09/2018 19:44

I do this at least once a year.

It’s great and I recommend it to anyone. I choose a nice city and explore it solo, seeing only what I want to see only at the speed I want to see it - I sit in nice coffee shops, I eat whatever I like, I sleep all night diagonally and I lie in in the morning.

It is the BEST

Egg · 07/09/2018 19:45

I used to fantasise about this all the time. Sometimes I would think about just me and the dog going somewhere miles away for the weekend. Now my kids are a bit older I no longer have the urge! I’d still happily do it but I don’t spend my life dreaming about it. Although actually now I’ve read this thread it’s reawakened the urge...

Hooli · 07/09/2018 19:45

When I say me and DH, I mean that I either make them go away to his parents or I go away somewhere.

Like you, that weekend of not having to talk to or think about anyone else is sheer bliss. I buy myself new PJ's, download trash, get takeaway and a bottle of wine, lie in, read books, take a midday bubble bath, eat chocolate and pretty much vegetate. It's as restorative as a week away, honestly

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:46

No babies, aged 4-12 though. Husband would be inconvenienced as it would impede on his own social life. I don’t have that luxury.

Timeisslippingaway · 07/09/2018 19:47

Heismyopendoor

I'm 20 mins away from glasgow, I'll come 😂. I would bloody love a full weekend myself!

Honey2018 · 07/09/2018 19:47

Ahh I see! Sounds perfect. You could look on Airbnb to see what they have depending on your budget.

Your husband will just have to cope, put yourself first for once. Smile

eddielizzard · 07/09/2018 19:48

Do it. Go Saturday morning, back Sunday afternoon. They'll be fine.

HaveSomeGrace · 07/09/2018 19:48

@LittleBirdBlues

My mother lives in the south west by the sea but I wouldn’t want to drive too far. I’d go 20mins up the road and just stay in s travelodge if I could!
