To not bother with tomorrow's job interview because I can't even cope not working

sanssherif · 06/09/2018 22:04

Brief history
Well qualified good job
Divorce, during unplanned preg. Now left alone no friends no support.
Disabled dd age 12.
Have had 2 years off work, dd2 is 3.
Applied for competitive but lower level role, was excited by the role and thrilled at the interview!
Its been a shit week back to school, my exH has given me the silent treatment, dd1 isnt coping and still awake (autism) and dd2 has just been sick everywhere.
I've been recently drinking more and am getting depressed at the no interaction/general skivvy mum role.
Really cannot be bothered to go, doesnt seem much point. Just want to crawl into a hole.

Another with everything crossed for you

ImPreCis · 07/09/2018 13:17

Really well done! Whatever the outcome of the interview, you did it! You looked fab, you got out there, you faced them, answered their questions and came out alive and well.
I hope that feels good to you because it absolutely should do.
Keep that portfolio to hand, in case you need it again. Cut back on the drinking, you know that it doesn’t help your situation in any way.
Have a lovely weekend
💐

Fingers crossed OP. Really recommend a Book called She's Back - obviously about women going back to work after a break. It made me feel really positive and inspired me to go for a new much more challenging role. Good luck!

RidingARollerCoaster · 07/09/2018 13:20

sanssherif · 07/09/2018 13:25

So, so happy you went. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Redteapot67 · 07/09/2018 13:31

Well done - sometimes you just have to give it what you’ve got rather than 100%.

beachysandy81 · 07/09/2018 13:35

Fingers crossed for you! No matter what the outcome you are all ready to interview now as you have been through the process.

Claw001 · 07/09/2018 13:41

I know how hard children with disabilities can be, single parent etc. Well done for going for the interview and fingers crossed you get the job Flowers x

Singlenotsingle · 07/09/2018 14:08

When you reach the bottom, the only way is up! Grin

HashTagLil · 07/09/2018 14:31

I hope you get the job, but even if you don't, use it as a positive experience to show that you can change your current circumstances and things will improve. Maybe consider telling your GP how you've been feeling, they can help.

Redtartanshoes · 07/09/2018 14:35

I’m rooting for you. Pleased they’ll let you know today rather than stringing it out.

Good luck!!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 07/09/2018 14:54

I'm SO proud of you for:

  • Posting here to get a kick up the arse;
  • Getting the interview;
  • Getting dressed up and going.

GOOD FOR YOU, OP! Even if you don't get the job you'll only be in the same position you were, but I bet you feel so much better for going.

Really lovely thread. You're a winner in my book

Haireverywhere · 07/09/2018 15:01

OP these ARE real problems! You don't need to feel guilty for posting.

You did great well done! You're a winner in mine too.

RickOShay · 07/09/2018 15:13

That’s brilliant!!
more fingers crossed here

MrsJonSno · 07/09/2018 15:18

If you come off of Income Support because you take a job and it turns out the job isn’t manageable then you are entitled to give notice and go back onto benefits if your youngest is still under 5. It’s not the same as being on JSA and leaving a job, you don’t HAVE to work or look for work with a child under 5 x

cathcath2 · 07/09/2018 15:54

Oh well done! I know what it's like taking that first step back to the work market and it is terrifying at times. You did good whether you got it or not x

Honeypickle · 07/09/2018 16:35

Well done for going and fingers crossed for you!

triwarrior · 07/09/2018 16:39

Sending good ju-ju!

sanssherif · 07/09/2018 16:50
