To not bother with tomorrow's job interview because I can't even cope not working

sanssherif · 06/09/2018 22:04

Brief history
Well qualified good job
Divorce, during unplanned preg. Now left alone no friends no support.
Disabled dd age 12.
Have had 2 years off work, dd2 is 3.
Applied for competitive but lower level role, was excited by the role and thrilled at the interview!
Its been a shit week back to school, my exH has given me the silent treatment, dd1 isnt coping and still awake (autism) and dd2 has just been sick everywhere.
I've been recently drinking more and am getting depressed at the no interaction/general skivvy mum role.
Really cannot be bothered to go, doesnt seem much point. Just want to crawl into a hole.
AIBU?

Just wanted to wish you luck - I thought I was mad to apply for a new job when I’m on my knees in most other areas of my life, but every time I think about it, I feel really excited... so I reckon it’s got to be worth a go. Oh, and of course when youre at work, there’s structure, you can wee alone, and you physically have breathing space. In which you may find time for a 30 minute lunch to explore other kinds of help, social life, and support. Good luck Flowers

Good luck OP, forget the negative vibes on here, your feelings are normal and we all go through it. 'This too will pass', said someone wise, once.

I feel so shit saying it, when others have real problems, but everything seems so bleak.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You're having a very tough time. These are 'real' problems.

MyDcAreMarvel · 07/09/2018 11:10

If you are in a UC area and that’s why you are worried if the job doesn’t work out you will have no work conditionality if you are s carer for you dd. You will lose approx £30-£40 a week of your dd gets middle rathervthan high rate care.
I really think you should go for the interview.

sanssherif · 07/09/2018 11:11

Yes she gets middle care low mobility.
Im terrified of UC x

Dontknowwhatimdoing · 07/09/2018 11:35

Really glad to see you are going. Good luck!

lowtide · 07/09/2018 11:35

Good luck! Talk to yourself in your head like a friend would, not like your ex would.

MyDcAreMarvel · 07/09/2018 11:42

sanssherif I know the thought of UC is stressful but as a carer you would be ok other than the drop in disability premium.
As you own your own home the taper rate if you worked in the future is lower than if you claim help with rent so you would keep more of earnings.
Anyway hopefully the job will work out well and it’s all hypothetical.
Good luck with the interview am sure you will ace it!

Lollygaggles · 07/09/2018 11:46

Good luck! Please let us know how it went Flowers

sanssherif · 07/09/2018 11:48

Thanks.
Disability premium for what? Does that replace carers or dla?
Here it is still tax credits.
