Now that the evenings are getting darker I feel sad that summer is ending .. and pissed off with the "cosy" people !! I hate winter .. what is "cosy" about bumbling about in the dark and scraping ice off your car, getting fat with stodgy food , seeing all the shit sentimental Christmas TV adverts and being pale , corpse like and with drizzled on hair !!! .. this is light hearted but I just don't get it ! .... I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

I'm with you op - I was made for warm weather, the hotter the better. I hate being cold and having to wrap up in layers ... and socks Envy hate the things, sandals are perfect for me!
I hate leaving for work and coming home in the dark and never feeling the warmth of the sun - hopefully next week will be hot, I've absolutely loved this summer

Togaandsandals · 19/08/2018 03:01

Yanbu OP. Autumn here is not like some New England picture perfect postcard. It’s grey skies mostly and I hate it as the days get shorter.

ALongHardWinter · 19/08/2018 03:28

YABVU. Firstly, summer is not quite over yet,it's only the middle of August. Secondly, all I can say is thank fuck it is nearly over. That stinking heat nearly finished me off. And I know I'm not alone in saying that.

3luckystars · 19/08/2018 03:29

@ursulapandress what’s to feel guilty about eating butter beans? I thought they were good for you?

I love winter because I can wear boots. I’m happier covered up and I love the fire.

PositivelyPERF · 19/08/2018 03:35

The only good thing about darker evenings and ‘cosy’ candles, is the fact that the dirt in my house is harder to see! Other than that, winter can feck off!

YABU, we've had to put up with all the summer types telling us how much we should love being sweaty and uncomfortable

As far as I am aware the majority of the threads were about hating summer.

I can't really comment on seasons as they all seem to merge into one just going from cold, colder to freezing to cold again with depressing grey skies.

I have already had my heating on. My gas and electric go through the roof (£400 per month) in "autumn".

I am riddled with arthritis, looking at me over the summer you wouldn't have been able to tell. I could walk and run and get things done. But summer is only at best a couple of months and all I could think of was that I needed to get stuff done before the weather changed and I returned to not being able to get about. So no not everyone in autumn can take a bracing walk in the park to watch the trees dying. Some of us would be in agony and struggle to walk without a great deal of pain.

So everyone can take autumn winter and spring and fuck off. Bring back 46 in the shade. At least I could actually walk.

Itchytights · 19/08/2018 04:39

I’m with you op.

Not to mention all the bugs and viruses that multiply tenfold in Autumn and Winter.

Eeeeuughh.

Emmasmum2013 · 19/08/2018 05:21

People romanticise any season when it's not here. In winter I'll be dreaming of sunbathing and summer cocktails.
When summer is here, I'll be dreaming of pumpkin spiced latte and knitwear.

QueenOfIce · 19/08/2018 05:36

It would be so much nicer if we had proper seasons. It's either boiling and high humidity or peeing down with rain. A cool autumn and a crisp winter without the months of rain would be lovely!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/08/2018 06:09

I fucking love summer, especially light mornings. But I get up at 5 for work and it's already dark now so that's over.

I also love the heat but that's very rare.

So I would say my favourite season is the period of autumn before the clocks change when it's still light after work and the trees look wonderful.

Winter can go fuck itself. And any day below 12 degrees, which actually included Friday here in Yorkshire, so summer isn't everything.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/08/2018 06:17

Also - people who hate the cold. Last year I cracked it:I bought 3 coats.

One in size 8 (my size), one in size 12 and one long one in size 14 that went below my knees. And I wore them all. At the same time.

Yes, I looked like the Michelin Man but I was warm (apart from my face, and nose and hands and feet but I'm working on the solution for those. Watch this space).

NachoCheese22 · 19/08/2018 06:19

Hate summer (apart from my August holiday somewhere hot, that's ok) Who enjoys being sticky with sweat, wasps everywhere and unbearable sleeping conditions? Give me a chilly wind with swirling leaves and big jumper any day!

tappitytaptap · 19/08/2018 06:26

I'm 33 weeks pregnant, can't wait to not be permanently sweaty and cosy up with my new baby and toddler Grin

Groomer · 19/08/2018 06:31

My DD's birthday's in Autumn. She says the trees decorate themselves in beautiful colours to celebrate with her!

Undercoverbanana · 19/08/2018 06:34

It’s already semi-dark in the mornings when I get up. I can feel my MH teetering on the edge already. I had to put a hoodie on one night last week to walk to the pool. I actually cried. The thought of all that greyness and all those clothes. I hate it.

mammmamia · 19/08/2018 06:48

I’m with you OP, I have lived in flip flops since May and I love it, i hate the thought of socks again!

ElinorOliphantIsCompletelyFine · 19/08/2018 06:53

I love summer, but my optimum temperature is 25 degrees lol.

I also love being cosy. Soft dressing gown, fluffy slippers, lots of hot chocolate with whipped cream, curled up on the sofa with a throw and a good book....you can't do all that in summer so I'm actually really glad it's getting a bit cooler.

Sorry ☺️

TiffinBox · 19/08/2018 06:59

Mmmmm apple crumble and custard weather! Autumn is my favourite season, summer not so much but give me Autumn any day.

onedayonedaymaybe · 19/08/2018 07:00

All the best things happen in the autumn and winter! Halloween, Bonfire night and Christmas! I love early dark nights!

wanderings · 19/08/2018 07:00

(To the winter lovers, not the OP) Don't forget that we had an extremely generous helping of winter this year, the last snowfall was less than half a year ago, have you forgotten already? Are you all really desperate to have all that back, are you consumed by greed?

I'm a firm believer in "no bad weather - only bad clothing". My summer holidays as a child were rainy walks in Wales and the Lake District, bundled up in plastic macs. So I'll be staying in my shorts and sandals for as long as I can! Grin Eventually I might make the transition to longer shorts and trainers; no socks or coats for me until the icicles are hanging off me.

I hid about six of the summer-hating threads. I almost wish I was alive in the summer of 1976, so that I experienced it!

I meet lots of Australians on the netball court. Many of them find it very amusing that the British Poms are never happy with the weather, even though it went all out in both directions to try and please somebody this year.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 19/08/2018 07:01

I like all of the seasons.

I love the spring because everything is bursting into life and I really love seeing the plants and trees starting to come into leaf.

Summer's great - I love being able to get the washing dry outside. Living in flip flops and a sundress and dinner being a quick salad that you can throw together.

Autumn is lovely - the crispness of the air, the crunchy leaves and seeing them change colour and look amazing.

Love winter - warming stews and roasts, snuggling in the house, seeing snow transform the garden into something quite otherworldly.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/08/2018 07:05

Give me a chilly wind with swirling leaves and big jumper any day also love being cosy. Soft dressing gown, fluffy slippers, lots of hot chocolate with whipped cream, curled up on the sofa with a throw

Genuine question but if you like the cold weather why do all you go on about is making yourself hotter

HulaMelody · 19/08/2018 07:11

I love the autumn but only when it’s the photogenic type of day - blue skies, crisp breeze, the bronze leaves glowing in the sun etc etc. Then I can put a scarf n boots on and skip about the park pretending I’m in New England or somewhere.

Normally (today included) it’s grey, soggy and dreich. Missing summer already - even with its sweat and chaffage.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 19/08/2018 07:24

Totally with you OP.
It's the summer holidays Ffs. What is WRONG with people?!
Shut UP about sharing your Christmas stuffing & bloody Baileys hot chocolate recipies you twats!
