AIBU to get pissed off with all the Autumn and Winter "cosy" people

Now that the evenings are getting darker I feel sad that summer is ending .. and pissed off with the "cosy" people !! I hate winter .. what is "cosy" about bumbling about in the dark and scraping ice off your car, getting fat with stodgy food , seeing all the shit sentimental Christmas TV adverts and being pale , corpse like and with drizzled on hair !!! .. this is light hearted but I just don't get it ! .... I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

I love Autumn - just something about the colours and darker nights. I also like September as it's the start of the new school year (teacher) and there's something about the feeling of a fresh start.

Today's weather is from where I am though - really fret and rainy! I like crisp Autumn day.

chickydoo · 19/08/2018 07:39

I'm with you OP
I love the summer and feel a bit down as September comes around

Itschristmas32 · 19/08/2018 07:42

I love a bit of cosy! Warm fires, hot drinks, snuggling up on sofa! However, the novelty wears off quickly! And my optimum would be 10 months sun and outdoor living! And 2 months of cosy, fires, Christmas etc.... [santa]

I’m on the fence. I love autumn and Christmas but hate January and February. I enjoy the colours of autumn and sunny crisp days. I think I got out for more autumn walks last year rather than summer walks this year. The thing I really loathe though is the nights drawing in. I hate driving in the dark at rush hour and I’m sure I had a bit of SAD last winter as I didn’t really see day light on my working days and it seemed to really affect me. I love light and sun but don’t particularly like high heat. A constant 23-25 degrees would be my ideal.

VickieCherry · 19/08/2018 07:52

I love autumn and spring. Changing seasons, reasonable temperatures, a sense of change in the air.

Winter post-Christmas (which is basically when we get our winter) is cold and grey and miserable. Summer always had a least a short period of hideous unbearable heat - this year was especially bad.

Give me the leaves turning and spring bulbs any day.

WaitrosePigeon · 19/08/2018 07:53

Na. Love Autumn and Winter Smile

ch0c0milkrox · 19/08/2018 08:01

My house is freezing in winter I hate but I do prefer wearing winter clothes.

Iknowwhoyouare123 · 19/08/2018 08:10

Some people act like it was a terrifying end of days ordeal.

It was just hotter than usual for a few weeks.

museumum · 19/08/2018 08:12

It’s not the summer holidays anymore in Scotland. Kids back at school and in queue like clockwork the rain started last week and hasn’t stopped. It is definitely the start of autumn here.
I’ve loved the summer (again up here, in London i would have hated it - lived there for years and know the central line in summer too well) but I love seasonality. It’s time to move on.

museumum · 19/08/2018 08:13

On cue
Not in queue. Bloody autocorrect.

donajimena · 19/08/2018 08:14

I hate winter but I do look smarter in winter clothes so I am looking forward to looking half tidy again. I usually get quite depressed in winter with it only lifting in March. However I went to university last year so winter flew by with lectures and assignments. I've got another 3 years. When I graduate I hope I can afford to go somewhere exotic every January.
Light nights and sunshine all the way for me.

mamaduckbone · 19/08/2018 08:19

I’m with you OP. YANBU - Winter is rubbish.

I’ve got dreadful circulation and have freezing cold feet and hands for months on end, and have loved every minute of this proper amazing summer we’ve had.

I look better in summer, I can eat salad every day and lose weight, get in the garden every day, dry laundry outside...and I’m a teacher so I don’t go to work for a single day of August. Why would anyone want to swap that for drizzle, dark nights and pasty skin? Ridiculous.

AuntieStella · 19/08/2018 08:23

Autumn is always my favourite time of year.

But I've loved the hot summer. It's really non-descript weather here today, cloudy, neither warm nor cold, might rain later. All very dull.

I like definite seasons - especially the ones which mark transition.

BikeRunSki · 19/08/2018 08:24

I used to be a “I love 4 seasons, especially kicking through autumn leaves” type person, but I’ve loved this long hot summer!!

NutElla5x · 19/08/2018 08:26

I just think we're lucky to have the four seasons in the uk to talk/moan about.I would hate to live somewhere where the weather was the same day in day out.I love the summer, but this one has been a bit too hot for me at times.September always still gives me that sense of doom that I had as a child because it's back to school time, and now I look at my kids and think 'you poor sods.' lol.Winter has it's good points-my birthday for instance haha but it is just soooo long!.Spring is my favourite season by far-the unpredictable weather but the longer days and the anticipation of a lovely summer.People who harp on about Christmas in August need fucking shooting.Fuck off with your wafflings about what you've bought your precious kid for it,no-one really gives a fuck.

Alicatz66 · 19/08/2018 08:26

I'm pleased !! This has been a nice friendly thread ... I'm usually a thread killer .. might join you all for a gingerbread latte !! Grin

Yanbu. The darkening evenings are already making me twitchy.
This summer has proved to me that I should live somewhere that is hot all year round. I don't even like the current 20° temp and have put a vest on.

Alicatz66 · 19/08/2018 08:30

Groomer .. my birthday is July .. maybe I love summer as Iwas a summer baby and my birthday was always at the start of the big school holiday !

I dont mind Autumn i dont like winter though. Generally i like the weather from late March/early April to end of October. Can sometimes extend to November and early March. Not a big fan of Weather in the rest if the year.

It doesn't help that i am more limited where i take the kids, in winter we do lots more walks or scooter rides at the seafront instead of other days out. We do still go to NT places on the membership too. I realise though we are fortunate to have that
option.

IGiorni · 19/08/2018 08:40

I love it, I’m definitely a cold weather person. I don’t do well with summer weather, I get too hot in my work uniform and I burn easily, the kids are grumpy because they’re hot and bothered, everywhere is busy in the summer holidays and I don’t feel like eating proper meals so end up snacking on crap. I love jumpers, boots, rain, snow, blankets and my slow cooker. I’d rather be too cold than too hot.

BarbedBloom · 19/08/2018 08:43

I can’t wait, sorry. Love the dark nights and the holidays ahead (Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas). I have endured the summer, but I am looking forward to the change of the seasons

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 19/08/2018 08:43

OP - I totally agree with you! I also have a theory that people like the time of the year they were born the best - I am July too! But I hate autumn because it comes before the dreary winter and how often do you actually see crispy autumn leaves? They are usually soggy and slippery and stick to your shoes! Winter I hate because of the darkness - I can put up with the rain and cold (just) but oh the terrible darkness. I also despite Hallowe'en and don't like Christmas much now, only because the whole build up goes on and on and on. By the time Christmas comes, it is just a relief to get it all over with and look forward to spring days!

CrumbsInBed · 19/08/2018 08:43

I love summer, but Autumn is best. 🍂 🍂.

I enjoyed the hot summer, and the vitamin D overload, but I love this bit now where it’s raining, so the plants get a good water. They look fresh and green now instead of parched, (no matter how often I watered them. That was the only downside of the summer I could think of).

I love the colour of the leaves 🍁 and the brushed cotton pyjamas.
Also, it’s not that cold in Autumn really, so when I’ve eaten something stodgy, I can still walk it off.

It’s a lovely time of the year.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 19/08/2018 08:44

'despise' not 'despite'!

Tumbleweed101 · 19/08/2018 08:46

I’m a summer/autumn person. I’ve enjoyed all the sunshine and love the light nights. I also enjoy autumn up to Halloween but then it starts getting properly cold which I’m less fond of and the dark nights kick in which I hate as I can’t do anything in the garden as it’s dark when I get home.
