AIBU to get pissed off with all the Autumn and Winter "cosy" people

Now that the evenings are getting darker I feel sad that summer is ending .. and pissed off with the "cosy" people !! I hate winter .. what is "cosy" about bumbling about in the dark and scraping ice off your car, getting fat with stodgy food , seeing all the shit sentimental Christmas TV adverts and being pale , corpse like and with drizzled on hair !!! .. this is light hearted but I just don't get it ! .... I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

I absolutely hate the start of Autumn as it's when all the horrible massive house spiders come out to play. Wish I wasn't so petrified of them.

Cittadineve · 18/08/2018 23:41

YANBU this miserable cold weather is miserable. I miss the heat and have no time for anyone who moans about good weather 😡

Chickencellar · 18/08/2018 23:41

They weren't mild last year , council used record amounts of grid around here

SerenDippitty · 18/08/2018 23:42

I used to be an autumn and winter cosy person but as I get older I find the short days and dark nights harder and harder to cope with. The worst time is just after a Christmas when all the lights have come down but there’s still a couple of months of darkness to go. And I just hate being at work when it’s dark outside. I feel trapped

StarbucksSmarterSister · 18/08/2018 23:43

I agree OP, it's absurd. Apart from the fact that it's mid August and I won't be going on holiday for another month, I hate the cold. I have sensitive teeth and spend the colder months in agony (despite special toothpaste and wrapping my face in scarves the whole time), I hate waiting on freezing platforms for trains that don't appear because of frozen points and the wrong sort of snow.

I hate that it's so expensive, what with needing the heating on all the time, having to buy coats and thick tights and a new pair of boots, etc. I hate the way my glasses steam up when I come out of the cold into a warm place. I hate not being able to spend time in my garden.

Winter is shite and Autumn's not much better. I wish it was a balmy 24 C the whole year round.

ShesABelter · 18/08/2018 23:44

I get excited about every season when it's starting and by the end I'm ready for the next. Summer's doing my nut in now.. if it's going to be wet id rather it wants clammy and the leaves were the gorgeous golden colours of Autumn. Winter for snow, fires, fairy lights and Xmas songs, films and festivities then spring when it starts to get brighter and newly born animals in spring and flowers starting to grow, smell of cut grass and longer days for playing. Then summer and the promise of summer holidays, has, festivals with friends. I love all seasons and see the positives in them all.

PickAChew · 18/08/2018 23:44

I hate the sheer pain of the heat of summer but miss the light evenings already.

I'm short, wide, pale and hairy. Built for cooler weather.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 18/08/2018 23:44

It feels like autumn's here already at the moment, which makes me happy. I made a plum crumble today with some of the bumper harvest from our tree and I'm going to see if I can find a plum chutney recipe for some of the others. I have a sausage casserole in the slow cooker ready for tomorrow's dinner. I love this time of year, as the seasons are changing.

salsamad · 18/08/2018 23:45

You are definitely not being unreasonable Alicatz.
Tonight I've had to put my flip flops away and put bed socks on to keep my feet warm, as they are freezing.
I absolutely love the hot warm weather - wearing shorts, sunbathing in the garden, having BBQs, eating ice lollies, going out for a walk in the evening and not needing a cardy/hoodie/jacket/coat/scarf/gloves.....
This summer has been spectacular and I'm so sad that it is drawing to a close and that bloody Christmas chocolates are already on sale in Tesco!

DieAntword · 18/08/2018 23:47

Nope. You can always wear more layers but I’m sweating half to death in my bed and it’s only 22 degrees in here. Bring on winter so I can snuggle up properly.

SideOrderofSprouts · 18/08/2018 23:48

I hate summer. I want my jumpers back

ashdeeashdee · 18/08/2018 23:52

What is good about it being bright 18 hours of the day, uncomfortable and restless instead of sleeping, getting into a car thats hot enough to cook a chicken, eating ice cream and lettuce cause you cant bear to increase your body heat any further, seeing nothing on TV cause all the good shows are on hiatus, and being sunburnt, corpse like and frizzy haired?!? ;) gimme autumn any day ;)

FlorencesHunger · 19/08/2018 00:21

I do love when the trees start changing into autumn colours and genuinely swish my feet about the dead leaves at any opportunityGrin but I don't go on about it.
I don't enjoy the cold at all, a summer breeze makes me feel cold even. Around this time of year I do start planning my autumn winter wardrobe(mainly boots).
I never buy a suitable enough coat.

Snow is nice aslong as its still safe to drive in.

AnnabelleLecter · 19/08/2018 00:23

Yanbu.
I'm still in shorts and have had the aircon blasting out in the car all week.
Either I'm menopausal or Autumn feels ages away.
Actually looking forward to winter this year as we've just booked a cruise to somewhere hot.

AnExcellentUsername · 19/08/2018 00:25

I love the dark nights. Can't be doing with the stupidly long days we get here in summer, like when it doesn't start getting dark till after 11pm and then the sun rises at 3am...

SteviaStephanie · 19/08/2018 01:34

YABU.

However, the supermarkets that are ALREADY selling the Christmas tubs of Roses, Heroes etc? Urgh!

(Also, what a travesty they are now. I remember when they were about £10 each and massive and lasted for months. Now they are half full, you could eat most of them in a night (I exaggerate but still!), and they all taste the same. Screw you, Kraft, for screwing with Cadbury Sad).

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/08/2018 01:36

I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

There's a difference between, "I hate summer" and "I hate winter people". Winter people are clearly nicer. I'll leave you to your leathery skin and wrinkly eyes.

ToothTrauma · 19/08/2018 01:40

OP, as someone who hates summer, I hope you can enjoy this thread without too many bellends coming on to tell you why you’re wrong. I’m on the other side of the coin but I get it Flowers

SecretWitch · 19/08/2018 01:55

Summer blows. I hate the heat and humidity. I want crisp air, pumpkins and firelight.

fieryginger · 19/08/2018 01:59

All seasons have their lovely time, but January and February are shit. The dark nights really get on my wick and are depressing.

CheekyChinchilla · 19/08/2018 02:14

Yabu - I hate summer, it’s the worst of the seasons. I love winter most, then autumn, then spring. Summer is most definitely at the bottom of the list. Admittedly, where I live we get lots of sparkly snow and sunny winter days, and a hot dry summer, but even when in the UK I felt the same. Love the dark nights. Plus in the winter the wildfire risk is vastly reduced (a real concern where I live). And everyone seems to dress better in the winter - there’s no hideous t-shirts or tiny shorts, or seeing people walk weirdly in flip-flops.

JaneJeffer · 19/08/2018 02:17

YANBU

AIBU to get pissed off with all the Autumn and Winter "cosy" people
Bloodybridget · 19/08/2018 02:20

The heat was a bit much this year, London just felt filthy and burnt to a crisp, but I did love wearing the fewest possible clothes every day and never worrying about getting wet or cold, and drying washing outside all the time. But the poor garden . .

Tinywhale · 19/08/2018 02:22

Yeah definitely NBU. I have a friend who gets all excited when the evenings get dark. I love him dearly, but liking the dark is just weird (once you are over about 23). And as for the cold - shudder.
