AIBU to get pissed off with all the Autumn and Winter "cosy" people

Now that the evenings are getting darker I feel sad that summer is ending .. and pissed off with the "cosy" people !! I hate winter .. what is "cosy" about bumbling about in the dark and scraping ice off your car, getting fat with stodgy food , seeing all the shit sentimental Christmas TV adverts and being pale , corpse like and with drizzled on hair !!! .. this is light hearted but I just don't get it ! .... I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

YANBU I hate it. Don't mind autumn but I can't stand winter. I can never get cosy in my rented flat as it's storage heating and it's shit, plus I suffer with chilblains. My DS hates the cold too.

peppersprayfirstapologiselater · 18/08/2018 23:17

I HATE THE COLD.
I can't stand it.
I wish it was Summer all year round.
I think I need to move.

LucyAutumn · 18/08/2018 23:19

YABU. Everything about Autumn is the best Grin

cherry2727 · 18/08/2018 23:22

Surely mumsnet isn't a true reflection of reality ! Majority of posters on here claim to prefer autumn/winter, however during those seasons everyone around me seem soo miserable! No one smiles or talks to you on the trains or at the supermarket as they do during summer! Even my social invitations are fewer ! Surely the colder seasons cannot be well loved as portrayed on here !

Womaningreen · 18/08/2018 23:24

Ooh I hate xmas ads
And Ive seen threads in trending about Xmas already
Ugh
There's sunshine forecast for southeast next week, a fair bit. Summer isn't over, don't know where you are though...but it's only mid August so thete will be a back to school heatwave, isn't that how it goes?

CakeNinja · 18/08/2018 23:27

Autumn is my favourite season, end of September for a couple of weeks is the best.
However, it’s NOT bloody autumn, it’s still summer and the weather has returned to its typical ‘summer holiday grey’ and I hate it.
Bloody love the heat and the sun, I was getting fed up of people whining about the weather. For the first time in ages we had a brilliant couple of months of sun and it was moan moan moan. Bore off Grin
I’d like another month of sun and then straight into autumn days!

ReanimatedSGB · 18/08/2018 23:29

I like all the seasons. Not too thrilled with extreme weather that goes on for more than a day or two, but I'm equally happy with a snowy day, a sunny one, flopping on a beach (well, as long as there is plenty of shade) and prancing through the autumn leaves.

Yeah. Go ahead and hate me.

iamyourequal · 18/08/2018 23:30

OP. It can’t always be summer! Try and embrace each season for the good things it brings. For sure, a lot of winter is terrible, but we have the whole of autumn to enjoy first. Think of nice brisk walks in the park with the trees in glorious autumnal colours; the feel of ‘starting a new term’ perhaps new projects/hobbies. Autumn recipes of casseroles, lovely potatoes, apple crumble. Looking forward to Halloween, fireworks, hot chocolate and hot baths. I know this isn’t summer, but it’s still got good bits! No?

magimedi · 18/08/2018 23:30

YANBU - I love summer & heat & loathe winter, darkness, lots of clothes to put on, cold + heating bills.

JellyBears · 18/08/2018 23:31

That’s me, I love autumn. Sep-Dec best months of the year. Cozy dark evenings and lovely warm clothes...

ilovesooty · 18/08/2018 23:32

I agree with the OP.
I'd be more than happy to have summer all year round.

PointlessUsername · 18/08/2018 23:33

The smells
The colours of the leaves
Hot drinks
Hot baths & fresh Pj's
Stews
Nicer clothes.... ect...

I Love Autumn & Winter.

ilovesooty · 18/08/2018 23:33

And I hate Halloween not to mention Bonfire Night and Christmas.

Summerisdone · 18/08/2018 23:33

I'm with you OP, I can't stand Autumn and Winter. I do absolutely love Christmas, but apart from that, I wish the next two seasons would fuck off and get straight back to spring.
It doesn't help that I don't drive so have to walk everywhere in the sodding cold and rain Sad

Storm4star · 18/08/2018 23:34

Can’t wait to wear my jeans and wooly jumpers and cosy socks! Love, love, love the colder weather. I really hope this is an end to the nightmare that has been this summer. I literally cannot wait to wear my favourite big winter coat and enjoy a nice hot chocolate, oh and proper food instead of constant salads. Snuggling under my nice thick duvet. Lovely dark evenings. I cannot think of one bad thing about autumn/winter.

WillowPeach · 18/08/2018 23:34

Oh dear, I’m an Autumn/winter lover the most but I do enjoy it when the lighter evenings roll around.

I love the stodgy food, cups of tea, hot showers, hot water bottles, walking on crispy leaves, lighting candles and fires, feeling sleepy and warm early evening, looking forward to snuggling into a blanket at the end of the day. Mmm perfect

Autumnchill · 18/08/2018 23:34

Think you can tell where I'm gonna sit with this one Grin

paddyclampitt · 18/08/2018 23:36

YANBU. Autumn I can live with but I bloody hate winter!

Summer's not over yet - the nice weather will be back later this week!

Madein1995 · 18/08/2018 23:37

I adore autumn and winter!

The smell of the frost in the morning
Frosty grass crunching underfoot
Waking up to a lovely cosy house (heating)
Having the fire on in the evening

Then the magic of Christmas. songs in shops, the Christmas lights, the whole atmosphere. It's just such an exciting and magical time of year. I love love love December

Rebecca36 · 18/08/2018 23:38

Winter doesn't start until December and winters in England have been fairly mild of late.

Autumn is lovely, I went away in September last year and the year before and it was boiling hot both times.

LittleLionMansMummy · 18/08/2018 23:38

I love Christmas. The rest of autumn and winter can get to fuck. Yanbu.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 18/08/2018 23:40

Coming home after having been at work all day or having gone out for a walk in the cold and the rain and the storms etc, taking my coat and shoes off, putting the kettle on, serving up some casserole out of the slow cooker and then curling up on the settee underneath a lovely soft blanket is, for me, the best part of autumn and winter.

I love being all warm inside (even if I can't afford to put the heating on, the house is still relatively warm) in my bed or under a blanket and hearing the rain lash against the window.

I much prefer being too cold than too hot because there's always ways of warming up but it's impossible to cool down when it's pushing 30°C and you're sat there with next to nothing on.

MillieMoodle · 18/08/2018 23:40

YABU. Love it, love it, love it!

AnnieAnoniMoose · 18/08/2018 23:41

I love all the seasons! I love having seasons after spending many years living overseas without any real seasons. However, I have been away (unavoidable) somewhere wet & cool for a large part of this summer and I REALLY need some sunshine before Autumn starts.
