Every time someone asks about a breed, people criticise it. Apart from retired greyhounds.

AIBU to wonder if the perfect breed does actually exist?

Thank you.

Try having one of these! Excuse the blanket over her head!

I completely understand why people are against Bulldog's being bred. Ours was from a very good breeder and she manages to run around on walks very well and apart from allergies that have just started she has not had to have any vet treatment, bar the normal injections etc. I would not get one again though, and I know that we/she have been lucky so far.

My mum has labradoodles, they are so beautiful. I love crosses.

Bad head day, U2dog?

FASH84 · 16/08/2018 23:21

Didn't dogs who were weird mash ups of different breeds used to just be called mongrels? Why isn't that ok anymore and they have to have a silly contraction as a name?

Sallystyle · 16/08/2018 23:24

It is the only way she looks half pretty Grin

pieceofpurplesky · 16/08/2018 23:28

Mine is a much hated flat faced pug. He is healthy so far but I keep him inside when it is really hot and walk him early morning. He was a rescue and when I saw his face I couldn't resist!!

Eskies for me. :)

I've had a beautiful black and white cocker spaniel (first dog as an adult), but believe it or not, Eskies (American Eskimo Dogs) are actually a breeze to keep groomed (virtually self-cleaning, only smell "doggy" when wet) compared to a cocker spaniel.

Of course, you will be covered in white dog hair and conduct an endless battle with fur tumbleweeds, but I'm resigned to that, at this point.

I believe it's called a Cockapoo, the variety of it pictured doesn't require walking and doesn't bark or tear things up. It's the perfect dog.

they have got long legs and are lazy

And can reach food on a really high shelf and stuff their bogging faces with it!

The dog is in a lot of trouble tonight!

Prettyvacant2003 · 16/08/2018 23:54

Ahh, I love a dog pic post! I have nothing of any use to add except to say whoever said dogs are love is dead right. And this is the perfect dog right here. Grin

I think mumsnet is full of intelligent compassionate people , who would rather someone adopted a dog that needs a home and is likely to suffer a horrid lonely life or be put to death, than buy a specific breed 'cause they like the look of it.

BitOfFun · 17/08/2018 00:12

@allthelittleangels ,I'm so sorry, you must be devastated Sad. I lost my darling Pickle at the end of last year, and it broke my heart.

I've got Rory now- seven months old, the first boy I've raised, and he's a crazy Springer in a lanky Cavalier body. Here's a rare picture of him chilled out.

As people say, there's only ever the perfect dog for you.

DownAndUnder · 17/08/2018 00:15

Every time I mention my dog I also mention that I acquired her as an adult and didn’t buy a puppy Grin. She’s definitely not on MNs approved list of dog breeds.

Purplesky I don't hate your flat faced pug, just the grasping unprincipled breeders who have made him that way. William Hogarth, the artist, had a pug that was very dear to him and had his portrait painted with it in 1745. It bears barely any resemblance to the poor disfigured creatures they have become, simply for fashion and profit. Its very sad.

MaitlandGirl · 17/08/2018 00:41

shinyredbus

I’m quite partial to the hairy little hellions too lol

RedneckStumpy · 17/08/2018 00:47

For me our huskies are the perfect dog

Have you been on doghouse by any chance OP? Definitely not a good place to post unless you fit the very set opinions. Almost every post somehow ends up as a debate about breeders and an advert for rehoming greyhounds. You can actually predict the answers

TattyTShirt · 17/08/2018 01:39

Mumsnet approve of any dog, provided the dog is a cocker spaniel, Irish wolfhound or rescue greyhound.

Any other breed can fuck off - basically.

BlueUggs · 17/08/2018 02:03

Here's my smelly fat naughty lump. Beagles all the way!!!
She was purchased from a breeder and is now 9. She's an absolute shit and is a highly experienced escapologist but we love her!

pieceofpurplesky · 17/08/2018 02:09

Longwayoff people say my dog doesn't look like a pug - he looks a lot more like the Hogarth painting as he is longer legged and not as stocky in the body as most pugs. It's terrible how breeders create these dogs. I had no intention of a pug but when the rescue lady sent me his picture I turned to mush.
My comment was in general as on MN flat faced dogs are not popular!
