Totally in-appropriate outfits for toddler session

Bellabutterfly2016 · 07/08/2018 20:55

So this afternoon me and dd went to a holiday toddler session just in our village hall where the usual group meets up.

Ok so I get it's hot but today we had women pushing 40 (and I'm one myself) with skimpy cut off jean shorts revealing butt cheeks and chafing between the legs (to the point where 1 little boy said to his mummy "I can see that lady's bottom!!!) and dresses and skirts so short when people were bending over to play they were flashing knickers that were maybe white a long time ago and boobs hanging out of very low vest tops nearly popping out!!!

I had to laugh at one of my friends tho - she just smiled and said "the weather brings them all out" which certainly seemed to be the case today.

No idea why people felt this was appropriate!!!!! Why do they do it????

It's about appropriate clothing not body shaming.

I wouldn't comment comment on those 40 year women on the beach in their bikinis regardless of size or shape. Its appropriate. Why not just wear normal shorts rather than too short.

Same with men with their tops off. Unless they are doing manual labour its not classy.

BonnieLass5 · 07/08/2018 23:00

Why do you care what anyone else is wearing? Unless these women had volunteered for your fashion advice, don't comment.

Cuppaorwine · 07/08/2018 23:01

Oh bore off.

Appropriate clothing my arse cheeks. Live and let live. I know the people I would rather befriend on this thread and it’s definitely not the pursed lips spiteful ones.

tillytrotter1 · 07/08/2018 23:11

I'm 70 and my shorts have been outside of the garden for the first time ever this Summer, old jeans cut off where they'd rotted and split! I also have my commando dress from India, lovely cheese cloth, mid calf, floaty and airy. OH was horrified when I wore it to Sainsbury's, hadn't the heart to tell him I was only half commando.

twattymctwatterson · 07/08/2018 23:14

Ah you over-egged it.

Wdigin2this · 07/08/2018 23:21

I'm probably a helluva lot older than most posters on this thread, but I wear what I like, l like what I wear....it's got damn all to do with you or anyone else!

nightwispa · 07/08/2018 23:23

Yes, everyone's free to wear whatever they want unless they're a Muslim woman wearing a burka...

nightwispa · 07/08/2018 23:24

To prove my point:

peanutbutterandbanana · 07/08/2018 23:25

We get mocked if we wear burkas and we get mocked if we wear vest tops and shorts. Why do people feel the need to comment almost on a daily basis on what women wear? Lucky men, they don't get this judgement.

Neededastealthname · 07/08/2018 23:26

I bet most of those congratulations are from women who don't have the confidence to wear shorts but would if they did!

nightwispa · 07/08/2018 23:26

@Bellabutterfly2016 YANBU- it's shameful how some people dress nowadays. Some people have no self-respect.

peanutbutterandbanana · 07/08/2018 23:30

Totally agree - but nothing worse than seeing a 12/13 yr old girl walking around town with her arse cheeks hanging out, Adult men perving and the girl enjoying the attention

How the hell do you know that the girl is 'enjoying' the attention or whether she is just a normal 12 yo child completely oblivious to how judgemental the world is towards females, regardless of their age?.

Get your judgy pants off - they're showing too much crack.

ScattyCharly · 07/08/2018 23:37

It’s very hot and in hot countries they have clothing which covers you but is a suitable fabric.

In this country we have clothing made of thicker material. I’m exposing more than I’d like in a top with spaghetti straps but its made out of pretty heavy fabric unfortunately. I don’t own anything more suitable. I don’t care if people hoik their judgy pants over it.

Denim shorts = example of heavy fabric but not covering much.

oldsockeater · 07/08/2018 23:57

Can't bring myself to care what others wear really, but I do think all people over the age of 5 need to keep their underwear covered in public. If they will be doing cartwheels or bending over babies, a short skirt is not suitable. A flash of bum is not going to kill anyone, but the intention should be to avoid it. Beaches and swimming pools are obviously different to toddler groups.

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 08/08/2018 00:02

Its not as if shes coming to toddlers in the scud. Its been roasting of late maybe she is dressing how she sees fit to keep cool

Cuppaorwine · 08/08/2018 00:03

Muslim woman in a burka? Mmm well for me the burka is very problematic as it has no religious base and is a relatively new concept clearly based on the control and domination of women by men.

I accept some women choose to wear this as women used to wear whale bone corsets and crinolines but they doesn’t make it either sensible or a religious requirement. It’s neither.

Cuppaorwine · 08/08/2018 00:04

people over the age of 5

Jesus are you one of these weirdos who think little girls should wear shorts under skirts in case they fled pants doing cartwheels?

Cuppaorwine · 08/08/2018 00:05

You do realise that pants cover the bum don’t you? Shock

Timefortea99 · 08/08/2018 00:17

I saw a 15 year oldish girl in extremely high cut shorts going up the stairs at my local station. You can imagine the view, not just cheeks. Somebody upthread said bum cheeks were not sexual. Try telling that to the men following her up the stairs. They were transfixed.

I also saw a young girl with her arse hanging out of her shorts at a restaurant recently. All I could think was she is going to sit on a chair where someone else has to sit later. Repulsive.

It is never too that hot that you have to have your flaps and cheeks out - it is done to send out a message. That message is not I am boiling, it is I am an exhibitionist and let me show you me arse.

I also don’t like British men who walk around with their tops off. This happens when there is the teensiest bit of sun, not just the recent heatwave. You don’t see Pedro in Spain, or Guiseppe in Italy walking around with their torsos showing - not sure why British men feel it is appropriate. I have seen them in supermarkets like this which is rank.

I do judge. (I don’t like burkas either but that’s a different thread. Anything between an arse crack and a burka is fine by me though.)

SlothSlothSloth · 08/08/2018 00:22

You sound sad as hell OP

GunpowderGelatine · 08/08/2018 00:25

Maybe because it’s the part of the body traditionally used to shit out of?

Their anuses weren't on display Saucy.

GunpowderGelatine · 08/08/2018 00:35

Can we please not body shame and victim blame children on this thread FFS Hmm and you do know it's possible for men to not perve at said children, even if their 'arses are hanging out'?

Bumble1830 · 08/08/2018 00:39

I agree with OP why would anyone want to go to a toddlers club, or anywhere that isn't a beach, with everything hanging out? Also, why is it not OK for OP to comment (have an opinion) on the way someone dresses but OK for most PP to comment on her opinion, and be nasty too. Thank god we live in a free speech country, imagine if we didn't...!!

NonaGrey · 08/08/2018 00:56

Nonagrey, would yo be fine if someone turned up at your toddler group wearing a sparkly thong and peep hole bra?

Bez are you really comparing a vest top and shorts to a thong and bra? ConfusedHmm

Tomatoesrock · 08/08/2018 01:15

Whatsitoya Grin

I dont usually care whos bum or boobs are on display, big or small, all is fair in hot weather, though it wouldn't be practical at a toddlers party to be hanging out, in the garden fine.
