Totally in-appropriate outfits for toddler session

So this afternoon me and dd went to a holiday toddler session just in our village hall where the usual group meets up.

Ok so I get it's hot but today we had women pushing 40 (and I'm one myself) with skimpy cut off jean shorts revealing butt cheeks and chafing between the legs (to the point where 1 little boy said to his mummy "I can see that lady's bottom!!!) and dresses and skirts so short when people were bending over to play they were flashing knickers that were maybe white a long time ago and boobs hanging out of very low vest tops nearly popping out!!!

I had to laugh at one of my friends tho - she just smiled and said "the weather brings them all out" which certainly seemed to be the case today.

No idea why people felt this was appropriate!!!!! Why do they do it????

OP posts:

What’s age got to do with it? Jennifer Aniston looks far better in cut off denim shorts at almost 50 than the majority of 18 year olds I know.
Also, who cares. It’s bloody hot.

FrangipaniBlue · 07/08/2018 21:48

FML we're comparing the edge a woman's arse cheeks to a mans ball sack??? Think I must've fell asleep and woke up in 1953....

MrsChollySawcutt · 07/08/2018 21:51

OP Gilead called, they want their fashion advisor back...

Maybe if you spent more time playing with your child and less time judging other mother's clothing, you might actually GASP! have fun... Get a life...

BackforGood · 07/08/2018 21:53

I was doing some people watching today, and yes, I was judging.
I was judging the people who walked past wearing full length jeans in what has been oppressive heat here today. I was (in my head) thinking how sad that they felt they couldn't get their legs out on a sweltering hot day.
Mind, I was just judging in my head. I didn't comment on it.

VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2018 21:55

Yanbu. I fucking hate the heat. I've found dressing to be both appropriate whilst remaining cool to be nigh on impossible. But I make the effort because I'd rather not have my arse cheeks on display. MN is oftentimes a parallel universe.

nocoolnamesleft · 07/08/2018 21:57

How is their age relevant? Or would you have had no problem if they'd been slim 20 year olds? Lovely.

mikado1 · 07/08/2018 21:57

Is anyone else imagining a play group where women are deliberately flashing themselves/bending over in front of crying/traumatised toddlers and shocked mothers shielding innocent eyes? 😂

OP I don't think it looks good, but that's taste isn't it? Not your business and really a toddler group is hardly something you think of dressing less casually for.

OkMaybeNot · 07/08/2018 22:00

It's not comfortable to wear those clothes though, who is honestly comfortable with their tits nearly falling out and shorts wedged up their arse? Confused

DitheringBlidiot · 07/08/2018 22:02

And OP, can we stop with the “self-respect” nonsense please. Just because you have no respect for them doesn’t mean they don’t have it for themselves.

jarhead123 · 07/08/2018 22:03

Some people have no shame!

mikado1 · 07/08/2018 22:03

Not for me OKanyway, but people can wear what they want. I can't wait wear heels anymore i find them so uncomfortable but obviously many don't!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 07/08/2018 22:04

The size/age of people is irrelevant, but I have seen way, way more arse cheek than is ever publicly necessary this last week or so.

You can dress for the weather quite appropriately without flashing your bits and pieces. Whether they are aesthetically pleasing bits and pieces or not is really not relevant.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/08/2018 22:04

Have my very first biscuit

Isn’t it time the biscuit was deleted entirely? It’s so old, naff and so unoriginal

AnnieAnoniMoose · 07/08/2018 22:05

Just seen on the Facebook page the leader has commented on attending sessions in suitable clothing for play sessions!! Already 11 parents have congratulated her on the post and I'll be number 12

Yeah. That SO happened.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 07/08/2018 22:06

Why is it offensive? Because of the amount of flesh or because it’s unattractive flesh? Either way you're being a dick. Take the stick out of your arse and be glad that your children can see what real women look like to balance out the photoshop insta-filter culture they are growing up in. I hope they didn’t hear your bitchy comments.

Verbena87 · 07/08/2018 22:06

I really don't want to see someone underwear when they bend over also!

I care. I don’t want to see your arse cheeks.

Fab news, guys! You are in control of your own eyes! This means you can direct your gaze towards (or away from) whatever you choose? Awesome, eh?!

Hmm
ForalltheSaints · 07/08/2018 22:08

This is England.

People have almost no clue how to dress with any decorum or style in above average temperatures.

Male or female, old or young, regardless of the event.

The French may have had Francois Hollande as President and the Italians Berlusconi as PM but they have some style.

SpiritedLondon · 07/08/2018 22:10

On the one hand women are policed about wearing too little and at the other end of the spectrum the likes of Boris Johnson complaining about women wearing too much ( in the Burkha debate.). what are we going to be left with? bloody Fat Face and White Stuff that’s what.

kaytee87 · 07/08/2018 22:11

@HermioneGoesBackHome is there a rule on mn that says little girls must wear shorts under their dresses? Confused

DameSquashalot · 07/08/2018 22:14

Why would a playgroup leader tell people how to dress?

We need evidence of the Facebook post. (If it happened)

AnnieAnoniMoose · 07/08/2018 22:17

I was in a cafe the other day, the young girl serving and cleaning tables was wearing, I’ll generously call them, shorts. They were high waisted, but clearly they’d used their quota of fabric because there was basically nothing below the seam running through the crutch. It was definitely a 😳 but you know, we were all teenagers once wearing ‘fashion’. The thing that creased me up was that it’s in a cafe in the village, run by the church. Most all the staff and customers are very conservative (not me 😂) and they were clearly struggling not to inadvertently end up with an eyeful. She was blissfully unaware in that confident teenage way 😂

Had I been her Mum, and home when she was getting ready, I’d definitely have said they’d they were NOT suitable for work in the café (or anywhere outside the house really 😖). I’m still quite surprised they hadn’t sent her home to try again 😂

SaucyJack · 07/08/2018 22:18

“Why is it offensive? Because of the amount of flesh or because it’s unattractive flesh?“

Dunno. Maybe because it’s the part of the body traditionally used to shit out of? I don’t want to see inner arse cheek, I don’t want to smell it, and I don’t want to risk getting microscopic traces of faeces on my one clothing if I sit down on a public bench after someone who hasn’t wiped their backside properly.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 07/08/2018 22:20

A bit of arse cheek is hardly having you anus out.

4yearsnosleep · 07/08/2018 22:22

I love people watching and would have had the same thoughts. I just assume a lot of people don't give a shit, I often wish I didn't either!
