...to think that if you repeatedly get your cock out in public (allegedly) you aren't fit to offer advice to government about whether women-only facilities should become mixed-sex?

OK, I know IABU in offering a Daily Fail link, but the Guardian haven't yet covered this:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6003331/Britains-official-transgender-student-officer-suspended.html

Jess Bradley was one of the very limited number of people invited to give evidence to Maria Miller's Women and Equalities Select Committee investigation, which kicked off the current proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act so that anyone who says they are a woman is legally regarded as a woman, even if they still have a penis (and a beard and anything else they like - saying "I am a woman" would literally be the only requirement). These proposed changes in the law would mean the end of women-only services and de facto mean all services, including hospital wards, changing rooms, etc, would become mixed-sex.

Jess Bradley was also until very recently a director of Action for Trans Health, an activist group whose list of batshit demands includes the immediate release of all trans prisoners.

AIBU to think that everyone in government and beyond (including the NHS) who took advice from this individual should now reassess the value of that advice?

Any proper woman supporting this needs their head feeling.

SlothSlothSloth · 01/08/2018 02:02

Haven’t RTFT but I know some won’t want to follow the Dailymail link, so I’m just going to leave some pics of Jess here as they really do help with context, particularly in terms of thinking about how “woman” is now being defined and the consequent impacts on representation. The group photo is of a Labour panel a few days ago on trans rights. Note the absence of trans men (thats female to male transitioners, for those who don’t follow this stuff). Jess is second on the left.

YADNBU. Jess Bradley has no place advising the government on anything, let alone the safety of women and girls.

Here's two really outstanding posts from this thread. The first is from ToetoToe:

It is factually correct that Jess Bradley has been suspended due to the "Exhibitionist" site, and allegedly exposing their penis in public/the workplace.

It is also a fact that Jess Bradley has been advising the government on the GRA consultation. It is also a fact that Jess Bradley said on Sky News that self-ID'ing transwomenq (ie. Jess Bradley) should have access to female facilities, on the basis of self ID.

No.1 rule is that you cannot sue someone for telling the truth.

I think it would be fair comment/opinion to question whether such a person is the right person to listen to on this subject? Or whether we should perhaps listen to the points women's rights groups have been making - that allowing self-ID would open up an loophole for any man, any predator, any voyeur or flasher - to gain access to vulnerable women.

I don't know how many more examples of this crap we need before we're listened to about this.

The second is from Vickyyyy, and it follows the first perfectly:

When you offer MRA/incels/predators to have a say in womens rights, how the fuck else was it going to end up?

tobee · 01/08/2018 03:00

Women don't have penises. End of.

EeebyMum · 01/08/2018 07:34

He’s not a woman. He’s a man displaying male behaviours. What a wanker.

SlothSlothSloth · 01/08/2018 08:31

I think the terrifying thing is his there are NO requirements to be trans now. This person has been claiming to be trans for years, but as we can tell from their body and face, clearly hasn’t even been on hormones. No wonder things like this scandal happen.

I fear there will be no more reports about this story and it will get buried. The expensive lawyers know what they’re doing.

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/08/2018 08:34

Someone should tip off private eye ;) I’ve alteady done mine for the week ... I think they’ve had run ins with carter ruck before. Allegedly Wink

SlartiAardvark · 01/08/2018 08:39

In my view, anyone with a penis should not be discussing access to women's spaces.

starcrossedseahorse · 01/08/2018 10:56

He is a massive lump, clearly has a revolting fetish and is not someone who women should EVER have to even consider sharing a space with. He is the very type of man that opponents of self id have been warning us about and he is one of the men fighting hard to get in to female only spaces. Quelle surprise.

Anyone defending him or calling him 'she' has got serious issues themselves in my opinion. Get a grip.

StepBackNow · 01/08/2018 12:16

I do hope all the TRAs are reading this thread. I expect they will be along to explain this behaviour soon.

NoSquirrels · 01/08/2018 12:24

Jess has a girlfriend too. So they have a penis, a girlfriend and allegedly get their cock out in public. They also campaign for the release of trans prisoners, I believe, advocate violence against a 60 year old women's rights supporter and say there is no such thing as a real woman. Now they have probably the most expensive lawyers in history to silence newspapers and free speech.

Just reposting this. There's no such this as a real woman, you know.

ShotsFired · 01/08/2018 12:26

@NoSquirrels ^^ Maybe that's what they define as "living as a woman" that no man body has so far been able to elucidate Hmm

TheFoodtheFadandtheFugly · 01/08/2018 12:36

Is there anywhere we can write to or anyone we can complain to about this?

This fetish of being a woman whilst saying there is no such thing as a woman, as well as getting his penis out in public is beyond abhorrent.

NameChangedAgain18 · 01/08/2018 12:41

Write to your MP, TheFood. There are threads on the feminist chats board that will help you draft a letter or email. The government is consulting about loosening the law to allow people like Jess Bradley to self-identify as women. Once that happens, he can get his cock out in the women's changing rooms as much as he likes and no one will be able to complain because, well, he's just getting changed like every other woman in there.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 01/08/2018 12:41

If there’s no such thing as a woman then he can revert to being what we all know he is - a man.
And a disgusting little scrote of a man at that.

NoSquirrels · 01/08/2018 12:46

Petition to consult properly with women's interest groups here:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

There's a public consultation on the GRA changes here:

Ghanagirl · 01/08/2018 13:12

@TheShapeOfEwe
It’s really simple I’m a woman, a black woman a smallwoman, a married woman, a beautiful woman, a smart woman but not a CIS woman...

Ghanagirl · 01/08/2018 13:48

@PositivelyPERF

It’s like a retelling of Alice in Wonderland

More of an Alistair in Wonderland. 😁
Naughty🤣

SlothSlothSloth · 01/08/2018 13:58

Ghanagirl yep. The problem is ALL women are “cis women”, if it only means “not trans”. So it’s a useless category. There are just women, and then there are (usually gay) men who want to be women, and (usually straight) men who pretend to want to be women as part of a fetish or power game.

Alternatively, cis means “identifies wholly with assigned gender role”, in which case NO women are cis. All are limited and troubled by gender in some way, whether consciously or not.

NoSquirrels · 01/08/2018 14:01

I'm not 'cis' because I don't know if I 'identify with' my 'gender' of if I have been 'conditioned into' a 'gender' or if I am actually 'a man' because I don't know how anyone else feels.

That's why legislation cannot be made upon feelings. It needs to be made upon recognisable provable categories.

I'm not prejudiced against anyone of any 'gender'. I am just interested in a decent and fair society.

Vickyyyy · 01/08/2018 15:10

Even if TRAs eventually try the 'no true transwoman' defence here, it makes no difference, as thats exactly what women have been saying all along. That its not about transsexual people, its about male people who will take advantage, male people like Bradley. One of the people saying that women were being hysterical and such, and saying feminists were scaremongering, turns out to be one of the very same people feminists are warning about.

womanspeaking · 01/08/2018 15:13

Worth sharing this depressing article:
www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/3006679/paedophile-jailed-transgender-christyl-knight-christopher-nobile/

This convicted paedophile will now be able to access women's changing rooms / showers / toilets / hospital wards etc and places where young children are there will be nothing women can do to stop them.

Datun · 01/08/2018 15:17

Even if TRAs eventually try the 'no true transwoman' defence here, it makes no difference,

Exactly. What they seem to be saying is you can't tar all transwomen with the same brush.

My answer to that is yes, that's completely correct.

You can, however, tar all pervs with the same brush.

Because, as ever, this is not about transpeople. It's about predators. Whether they are trans, straight, gay, bi, non binary or Martian.

Demanding access to female spaces, by insisting it's not a problem; is only going to benefit perverts.

If they can't see that, they're part of the problem.

NameChangedAgain18 · 01/08/2018 15:18

Note that the trans organisation quoted at the end of that article doesn't accept that there is a problem with these transitioning paedophiles, and just talks about how hard things are for trans people.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 01/08/2018 15:22

The other point is that, although some say it's "sexist", and "women do it too", while 96% ish of sex offences are committed by men, many people instinctively view women as safer around children, the stats back up that view.

Many adults tell their kids to go to a woman or a parent if they are lost, for example. I can't see that having male child sex offenders "become" women is going to end well?
