...to think that if you repeatedly get your cock out in public (allegedly) you aren't fit to offer advice to government about whether women-only facilities should become mixed-sex?

OK, I know IABU in offering a Daily Fail link, but the Guardian haven't yet covered this:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6003331/Britains-official-transgender-student-officer-suspended.html

Jess Bradley was one of the very limited number of people invited to give evidence to Maria Miller's Women and Equalities Select Committee investigation, which kicked off the current proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act so that anyone who says they are a woman is legally regarded as a woman, even if they still have a penis (and a beard and anything else they like - saying "I am a woman" would literally be the only requirement). These proposed changes in the law would mean the end of women-only services and de facto mean all services, including hospital wards, changing rooms, etc, would become mixed-sex.

Jess Bradley was also until very recently a director of Action for Trans Health, an activist group whose list of batshit demands includes the immediate release of all trans prisoners.

AIBU to think that everyone in government and beyond (including the NHS) who took advice from this individual should now reassess the value of that advice?

I do often wonder at these very obviously looking Male trans women if they are taking the piss and secretly chuckling at the idiots fawning over them and telling them how stunning they are.

I genuinely think the more extreme ones who do nothing to look like women are just trolling. This Jess one, Danielle Muscato etc. I’m not sure it’s a joke, more of a power game, to see how far they can push people.

The anger when they are crossed is real. If they saw it as a joke they wouldn’t get angry in that way.

NoSquirrels · 02/08/2018 08:26

what can you not do if you are trans that everyone else can do?

The campaign for trans rights at the moment focuses on removing barriers to changing of birth certificates etc. Self ID.

Instead of focusing on ways in which trans people can deny their birth sex and pretend it never existed at all, the campaign could focus on raising awareness for funding for dysphoria clinics, unisex toilets and facilities, gender-neutral spaces or trans-specific services. Getting their own distinct category of ‘trans’ to be celebrated and valued by society.

For some reason though, it’s all about denying that and wholesale assimilation into gender norms that women in particular have been trying to break free of.

I find it strangely eerie in the real world, where no trans person seems to have condemned this behaviour.

I say no trans person, the ones that have are of course the usual 'wrong trans' people.
What we might call 'genuine' trans people.
What the trans 'community' call Truscum.
Because that is the level of support the community offer people with the real dysphoria.
Nice eh?

All the others, the silent ones, the vocal ones calling us scum for caring about womens' and girls' right, the ones who strangely seem to be busy doing other things this week - are not calling this out.
Why not?

Yet, we on mumsnet [according to a previously banned poster ] are shaming JB for their kink and this is no different to racism.
We should all just sigh, and forget all the past instances of male violence that we know about or have witnessed in our lives; and just accept this is one bad apple and 'not all trans'.

As this previously banned poster on Mumsnet would have it - we are all prejudiced against trans people because we take the evidence and use it to form an opinion, that men are a threat to women.

How very dare we!

I am not giving that person any clicks. So not posting their 'article'.

The question here is - why are the community not up in arms that this person has let the side down?

Why are they not contacting the government to protest that they are not all like that?

Why is there no thread on here saying 'Oh my god, please forgive us for not seeing this earlier, yes this is a threat to women and girls'?

You can draw your own conclusions from Jack's distinct lack of concern.

And yes - to those who start with 'trans women are women' - including Penny Mordant on the Self ID consultation - something like 80% of these 'trans women' do not, and never intend to, give up their cocks.

Weird huh?

There are several consultations running at the moment regarding this issue.

There is a consultation on the Equality act, because it has come to the attention of regular ordinary citizens, that many councils deleted the protected characteristic 'sex' which is a right through the Equality Act; and replaced it with gender. This means that your rights as biological women, are null and void. You might want to put your feelings about this across to the government.

There is consultation on the changes to the Gender Recognition Act, which basically means that anyone [for example famously Ian Huntley] could 'Self ID' as a woman, and immediately get all the rights that a biological/natal woman can get. For Ian - or Nicola [the name of one of his victim's mother - nice] as he is now wanting to be known, that means moving into a female prison. Safeguarding = none.

There is the City of London consultation which is remarkably convoluted because they start with the premise 'trans women are women' and are trying to push through making all of the City of London Corporation's facilities 'gender neutral'. Which means - no more women's loos. Nice if you and the kids are in London, trying to find a toilet where you can be sure a man isn't legally in.

There are others, you might want to have a look at this thread which sums them all up for you - but whatever you do - make your voice heard. Even if it doesn't affect you - it will affect other women and girls.

Its narcissistic injury and narcissistic rage.

Ah, who could forget "Savile's apprentice" at rape.com with pretend blowjob photo....what a lovely pair of young ladies. Just takes me back to the fun I had in my 20s, making jokes about rape and waving my cock around the office...

Indeed! Those halcyon days.

Ereshkigal · 02/08/2018 09:47

I had to laugh at a thread on Twitter where a trans person advertised "her" crowdfunder. The money was to be used to get taxis home. "She" finished with the words along the lines of "you can't even imagine how terrifying it can be to walk and use public transport - the comments, the looks etc.

Backed up by this tone deaf, utterly clueless woke bro:

This

But most of the trans activists seem to be envious of the achievements of feminist activism in ensuring that women's rights are recognised and defended.

They're like extreme versions of those whining boys who can't see their masculine privilege - the "what about t'menz?" ideologues. It's oppression/identity politics Top Trumps.

I tend to think that they have untreated mental illness, and try to see this with compassion. But people with MH issues can still be arseholes - a mental illness is neither cause nor licence to be nasty.

Bodily dysphoria is a psychological disturbance: look at the way we treat anorexia.

Funny that: anorexia is largely a female body dysphoria (because "femininity" & harmful gendered views of female bodies & minds) so it's seen as something to be got rid of. GEnder dysphoria - largely male - is celebrated as bodily truth. Hmmmmmm

SlothSlothSloth · 02/08/2018 11:36

RiceandBeans i think people like Jess Bradley obviously don’t have body dysphoria though, as they don’t do anything to change their bodies. If there are MH issues there it’s surely some kind of compulsive attention-seeking problem, or a personality disorder such as narcissism, as a PP suggested. However, it’s worth noting that for people like Jess Bradley and Lily Madigan there is obvious material advantage in claiming to be trans.

Exactly. They just like wearing the clothes & the shock factor (hence keeping the beard).

20 years ago they'd have been transvestites & quite happy with the label. Now they want to go into female loos & piss all over the toilet seats....

Bloody hell he was beaten with the ugly stick and he looks like he stinks. The thought of him getting his greasy little willy out makes me quite ill

This is a serious and horrible topic but this did make me laugh!

RiceandBeans · 02/08/2018 12:31

personality disorder such as narcissism

Definitely a personality disorder.

The few transwomen (post-SRS) I know also suffer from depression, and as far as I know, that's not been "cured" by gender reassignment ... But they are not (in my experience) narcissists; borderline personality disorder maybe.

It must be such a painful condition for anyone to feel that their body is deeply "wrong." As women we are socialised into femininity & feminine gender roles with this feeling of our bodies being wrong as basic background noise. But mostly, women learn to counter this - through experiences such as childbirth & breastfeeding, where we are doing some of the things our bodies are made for; or via movement, sport, dance etc etc etc.

Post-WW2 feminism (the second wave) & women's lib also helps: to see past valuing ourselves & other women simply for our bodies or our looks.

It's always a battle, though IME. But it's generally not debilitating nor does it interfere with interacting 'normally' in our social, work, and domestic lives.

But things like anorexia, or sex/gender dysphoria must be buried very deep for them to take over people's lives. And I suspect the physical emanation of bodily dysphorias is actually a symptom (not a cause in itself) of deeper psychological issues.

It's why recourse to puberty blockers & cross-sex hormones should be the last resort, not the first. Therapy, therapy, therapy
