To wear this dress to a wedding??

I've got a wedding next month, I've bought this dress but my sil says it's so much and I'll look a bit twatty?

If you saw me wearing this at a wedding what you think it was terrible? Or is it fine to wear for a wedding?

The blue flora one is lovely and wedding appropriate. The sparkly one is gorgeous but best kept for a different occasion.

Everyoneiswingingit · 28/07/2018 22:20

Wear what you like BUT it does look more like an evening dress for a ball/black tie event/prom and most people probably won't be wearing full length gowns, apart from the bride.

areyoubeingserviced · 28/07/2018 22:20

As others have said, it depends on the type of wedding. For a ‘typical ‘ English wedding it would be too much.

However, I recently attended a beautiful Nigerian wedding and most people were dressed in elaborate outfits
Not keen on the butter coloured dress tbh

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/07/2018 22:25

Of the three I’d say the blue one is most wedding-y. So if you don’t like that one pick something along similar lines. I think you might find yourself feeling overdressed in the others for an afternoon wedding in the UK.

Seriousquestion09 · 28/07/2018 22:25

Love the comment about Nigerian wedding!

I wore this recently for a wedding. Reiss have such nice stuff and sale might be still on too.

The blue flowery dress is best

IceCreamFace · 28/07/2018 22:27

Agree with PP it's a bit too evening/black tie for a wedding.

PlatypusPie · 28/07/2018 22:31

Gorgeous dress Seriousquestion09 !

MrsAndyGarcia · 28/07/2018 22:32

Unless you're going to the wedding of one of housewives of Cheshire relatives, sorry OP but that floor length dress is way to OTT and more suited to an evening black tie do like PP have said

I absolutely love the blue floral dress which is perfect for summer wedding and accessorise with a lovely pale pink/blue fascinator/ jewellery/shoes and bag and you'll look amazing Grin

OrdinarySnowflake · 28/07/2018 22:34

Blue flora dress is the most appropriate of the 3 you've linked for an afternoon wedding.

What's your budget?

lindalee3 · 28/07/2018 22:39

No, it's too flash. Are you trying to out-do the bride?

MeltingSnowflake · 28/07/2018 22:41

Agree with pp re: Reiss - pretty much anything you find there will be suitable for a wedding (other than black or white, obvs) How about something like this? www.reiss.com/p/lace-dress-womens-orchid-in-sapphire/?category_id=11000&gaEeList=W%20-%20Sale%20-%20Dresses

Of the three you showed, I think the blue floral is closest, but it does look a little cheap. I think it's definitely going in the right direction though - a floral print for a summer wedding looks lovely.

Merryoldgoat · 28/07/2018 22:43

Depends entirely on the type of wedding and any dress code. I had a black tie do - this would’ve looked fine.

HollaHolla · 28/07/2018 22:43

Where/what’s St George’s Hall? Is it something terribly grand? (I get over 40 hits when I google, so no idea which one...)
Unless it’s a proper black tie event, then the long sequinny one is OTT.

MrsAndyGarcia · 28/07/2018 22:44

forgot to say if that is you modelling the pale blue floral one in the pics then you look amazing - you can see your knicker line in the front facing pic so I'd recommend investing in a pair of belly buster knickers (not sexy but who cares as long as you look great Grin)

And it certainly doesn't look cheap imo - my cousin lives in Marbella and buys from specialist stores and she wore a similar dress recently to a lunch 'do' and also looked amazing Smile

Atalune · 28/07/2018 22:46

The pale blue one makes your bottom look an unusual shape.

Pale yellow- too bridey

Quiz- jokes right! ?

MrsAndyGarcia · 28/07/2018 22:48

Oh gawd, see it just shows how we all have different tastes Blush

Sorry melting but the dress you've linked to, to me, is utterly vile! lol!

eightfacesofthemoon · 28/07/2018 22:50

Susan Boyle 😂😂😂

Honeyroar · 28/07/2018 22:52

The long blue dress is too evening dressy. The yellow one looks cream and not really suitable for a wedding. The blue floral is probably the most appropriate, but nothing special, I'd keep looking.

OlennasWimple · 28/07/2018 22:52

If it's a very formal wedding (which the venue suggests it is), you ought to have your shoulders covered

dressesdressesdresses · 28/07/2018 22:52

Hi guys thanks for the reply's, just to clarify I'm not trying to put do the bride I'm 20 years old and I've never been to a wedding before (ever!).

I just want to look nice and and feel nice about my self. I have verh low confidence in the way I look so I'm just trying to actually get dressed up for once. Still looking for dresses, if I find any more I will post them if you all do t mind giving your thoughts. Thank you.

My shoulders are my favourite part of my body that's why I've chose dresses that show them

Aww bless you OP - the thing is posting what you like and asking others what they think is always going to get a mixed response as we've all got different tastes, as previous posts have shown. And then you'll just get jealous people posting horrible comments whatever the dress just 'because' they can.

My advice? Sequins and floor length a no-no for an average day time wedding - apart from that? Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and what makes you feel great Smile
