To wear this dress to a wedding??

I've got a wedding next month, I've bought this dress but my sil says it's so much and I'll look a bit twatty?

If you saw me wearing this at a wedding what you think it was terrible? Or is it fine to wear for a wedding?

I was at a wedding recently where someone was wearing a similar style of dress. To be honest I thought it looked lovely but I know that a few people commented on it and said they thought it was a bit much for a wedding. You'll probably get a similar mixed reception so it just depends on how much you care about that.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 28/07/2018 21:57

It’s very Alexis Colby! OTT for a daytime wedding.

MerryMarigold · 28/07/2018 21:59

Do you know anything about the others going? I was doing a wedding which started at 4ish. The bridesmaids wore gold, sequinned, flour length dresses. I think they were middle eastern, everyone quite glitzy. This would have been fine.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 28/07/2018 21:59

Beautiful but does look like an evening dress.

However if you like it then wear it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks, they'll all be more interested in the bride's frock.

MerryMarigold · 28/07/2018 22:00

Floor length dresses. Hmm

MaryShelley1818 · 28/07/2018 22:00

I agree...beautiful dress but only for a black tie evening/ball.
Far too ott for a daytime regular wedding guest.

It looks like something I'd put on for a black tie do or a NYE gala if I wasn't a size 22. Beautiful gown, but a bit much for a daytime wedding IMO.

SilverHairedCat · 28/07/2018 22:05

The blue is a nice dress, but of you don't feel nice in it, don't wear it. The yellow is pretty, but I think it's a similar shape to the blue one. What don't you like about the blue one?

GnotherGnu · 28/07/2018 22:05

It's definitely an evening dress and black isn't that suitable for a wedding anyway. You need a smart midi-length dress, jacket and skirt, or trouser suit.

parklives · 28/07/2018 22:06

Looks like the kind of dress a cruise ship singer would wear! (Sorry)
I'm not too keen on your other choices op, keep looking is my advice, your obviously young and have a great figure, it won't be hard to find something nice.

HaveSomeGrace · 28/07/2018 22:07

The yellow dress is lovely.

WooYa · 28/07/2018 22:07

I love the blue one but, as PP said, if you don't feel clean comfortable then don't wear it. You'll feel self conscious and distracted all afternoon/evening.

littlepeas · 28/07/2018 22:07

Yellow one is a bit too close to cream for a wedding. Blue one is nice and def works for a wedding.

littlepeas · 28/07/2018 22:09

Sorry, didn’t see you weren’t happy with the blue - agree with a pp, keep looking.

Bunchofdaffodils · 28/07/2018 22:10

Pale blue one is perfect.

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 28/07/2018 22:10

I’m not sure that those are great for a wedding either: they’re both quite sexy - less so the blue one but it doesn’t leave much of your (very shapely) behind to the imagination. Now I’m generally of the ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’ attitude and OP you obviously have ‘it’ in spades, but I’d tone it down for a wedding. If you’re going to go for something tight I’d make sure it covers your shoulders and is a decent length.

Starlighter · 28/07/2018 22:10

The sparkly floor length dress, although beautiful, is more suited to a black tie/ball type of event. Not very weddingy imo.

The yellow one is ok, but my favourite is the blue flowery one. Much more summer wedding style.

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 28/07/2018 22:11

(Not that there’s anything wrong with the length of the blue one!)

MistyMinge · 28/07/2018 22:14

Lovely dress for an evening do or glitzy black tie wedding, but for an afternoon wedding ceremony I think it's too much.

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2018 22:15

The yellow one is best, the blue one looks cheap I'm sorry.

And yes the blue first one isn't ok for a day time wedding, it's basically ball gown attire,

thisisannc · 28/07/2018 22:15

Whilst I'm completely an advocate for wearing what you like, when you like... since you're asking for opinions, a floor-length, sequinned, figure-hugging dress is going to look very out of place at a daytime wedding.

The blue floral dress is pretty and you look great in it!

NordicNobody · 28/07/2018 22:16

The blue one is lovely and perfect for a wedding. I don't like the cream one personally. The original sequinny one is stunning but I agree it's OTT for a wedding, especially in the day. It's the kind of thing I'd wear to a ball or formal evening event.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/07/2018 22:17

It's a bit Kiri Te Kanawa.
